Chapter 28 - New Life DxD- Chapter 27

"WHEN I GET OUT OF HERE, I'M GOING TO KILL YOU, GILGAMESH!"

I just watch as Valerie runs away from a group of Maou-class demons in the dungeon.

Well, I guess you guys must be wondering what's going on here, right?

Let me start from the beginning.

Right after Valerie and I woke up from our night—and what a night it was—we went to the kitchen to have breakfast. We found everyone, except Asia, with teasing smiles, and after a lot of laughter, we headed to the dungeon, except for Sebas, who preferred to stay back and organize the house.

So, me, Enkidu, Valerie, Mordred, and Asia came to the dungeon since Mordred and I wanted to train and show Asia what real combat is like.

But, unintentionally, I ended up setting the dungeon to Maou-class demons, and that resulted in Valerie fleeing from them while threatening me.

Don't be fooled—Valerie is strong. She has power comparable to Ultimate-class demons, but she can't do much against dozens of Maou-class demons, even with her Longinus. After all, the [Seraphirotd Grail] isn't a combat-oriented Longinus.

Looking to the side, I see Asia hiding behind Enkidu, who effortlessly crushes any being that gets close to him with the [Chains of Heaven].

As for Mordred, she's vanished somewhere, though I can sense her magical power obliterating hundreds of demons' magical energies a few kilometers away.

Another cool thing is that, by having sex with Valerie, I earned a reward from a secret quest.

That classic "have sex" quest.

Although, I wasn't a virgin even before meeting Valerie.

What?

You can't seriously think I'd spend over ten years in the DxD world and not have sex with anyone.

A world where the protagonist is practically lust incarnate.

If I'm not mistaken, I was ten at the time, so it had been four years since I arrived in the DxD world.

Now that I think about it, that might've been a crime, since I was ten and the woman I slept with was over twenty.

Not that it matters, of course—I took precautions at the time.

Magic is very useful, after all.

Back to the quest.

**[Secret Quest]**

**[Title: My Dhampir]**

**-Description: Conquer and have sex with Valerie Tepes.**

**-Reward: Blood Manipulation, Time Magic, 100,000 Gold.**

First off, I still think the system is pretty uncreative with quest titles.

Maybe when I reach level 100, where Sebas said a lot of abilities are unlocked, the system will update.

Now, about the abilities.

**[Name: Blood Manipulation]**

**-Type: Active.**

**-Rarity: Mega Rare.**

**-Level: 02/100.**

**-Description: The user can generate and manipulate blood from themselves, other beings, or their surroundings, whether from blood banks, hospitals, or battlefields. The user can also sense heartbeats from miles away, turn blood into vapor or stone, and even burst veins in a human or animal's body. In a way, the user can "control" living beings by manipulating their blood.**

First of all, it seems that depending on who I have sex with and complete a quest for, I can gain some of that person's abilities.

After all, Valerie has the ability to use [Blood Manipulation].

Being half-vampire and half-human, she has all the abilities of a normal vampire without the weakness to sunlight.

Among them is [Blood Manipulation], which Valerie can use. Honestly, I've seen her shape blood into stakes and use them to pierce her enemies—she looked like Vlad III, the Impaler.

But she can't manipulate the blood inside other people's bodies. It seems the user needs perfect mastery of this [Ability] for that, probably at levels 90 to 100.

Another thing I noticed about Valerie is her ability to absorb blood, which, like all vampires, she has.

But Valerie's is special because, to a certain extent, she can use some of the abilities of the people whose blood she drinks.

When she drank my blood, I saw her use [Darkness Magic], something all vampires have, but to a greater degree than she normally would. I even saw her use [Light Magic], and, hell, she could even use [Hellblaze], but it seems that's only temporary.

Now, onto the next one.

**[Name: Time Magic]**

**-Type: Active.**

**-Rarity: Mega Rare.**

**-Level: 05/100.**

**-Description: This magical attribute allows users to have some degree of time manipulation, but it doesn't extend to instantly aging someone or paralyzing them. Basically, this type of magic allows the user to steal a person's life time and use it for various purposes, from trapping enemies in temporal loops, healing wounds by rewinding their body to a previous state, accelerating their own time to move almost instantly, and even using time to see possible outcomes for specific events.**

First, there's a difference between [Time Magic] and [Time Manipulation].

[Time Manipulation] is absolute, as the user can manipulate time however they want without limitations.

[Time Magic], on the other hand, doesn't reach that level.

Basically, with it, I can steal a person's life time and use it freely. I can accelerate, decelerate, or stop and paralyze the flow of time until it's nearly frozen.

It's basically the same magic as Julius Novachrono from the anime Black Clover.

While it's not as powerful as [Time Manipulation], with this magic, I can avoid almost any attack since everything is affected by time, even the [Power of Destruction], [Light Magic], and other abilities.

I can also accelerate a person's time flow to age them or speed up time around me to predict and anticipate attacks.

And it's very useful since most supernatural beings live almost eternally.

"GILGAMESH!"

I hear Valerie and turn to see her impaling some demons with her blood spears, though most of them came out almost unscathed due to their regeneration.

Valerie quickly runs and hides behind me.

"If you don't protect me now, we'll never have sex again," Valerie says, looking into my eyes.

I seriously doubt she'd follow through on that, given how much of a pervert she is, but alright.

"Okay."

I step in front of Valerie and start eyeing the demons. The most interesting ones are those hit by Valerie's stakes, where flames cover their bodies and regenerate them.

This started happening after the dungeon sort of got an update.

Over time, the dungeon became boring due to my immense power—there were no longer any challenges in battles. I just came to level up.

But after a while, the beings started developing different abilities.

First, they began adapting to different battle situations.

For example, I kill a demon with a surprise sword strike. The next time I come, the demons have already adapted and manage to at least dodge the blow.

Another thing is that they now have a more human-like form and, most importantly, new abilities.

It seems these abilities are based on the 72 Pillars of the Underworld.

For example, some demons have the [Immortality] and [Fire Magic] of the Phenex House, making them stronger and more resilient.

Others have the [Power of Destruction] of the Bael House.

Or the [Worthlessness] of the Belial House, an ability that allows the user to temporarily negate their opponent's powers.

Looking at the demons in front of me, I prepare myself and charge at them.

In my right hand, a large axe materializes in golden particles, with a silver handle and a golden blade engraved with intricate designs—anyone would call it a masterpiece.

As I approach the demon, I simply swing the axe, cleaving the demon in half effortlessly due to the blade's sharpness.

The axe in my hand is replaced by a sword with a silver blade and a golden hilt.

Spinning the sword, I block the demon's attack and, with mastery, fling it away before piercing it with the sword, making it scream in pain.

Sensing danger, I grab the sword, still lodged in the demon's body, and throw it along with the demon into a fireball, burning it.

The sword vanishes in particles, returning to the Gate of Babylon, and in my hand materializes a golden spear with a curved silver tip.

I simply hurl the spear, which easily pierces the demon's head before disappearing.

Honestly, the [Gate of Babylon] is an incredible [Ability], not just because it contains all the world's treasures but also because it has so many weapons that you'll have one for every occasion.

Sensing a buildup of magical power, I look up and see several demons preparing various spells to launch at me.

Smiling, I summon a sword from my treasures—a normal katana with a black hilt and a gray blade.

I start releasing my magical power.

"Mana Zone."

At that moment, all my magic begins to spread across a large area around me, encompassing even the demons.

Mana Zone, or Mana Area, is a technique I created based on an ability from the Black Clover universe.

Basically, I expand my magic over a large area. Within this area, all my spells have their power amplified, and my enemies' are weakened, making it great for both attack and defense.

Offensively, this mana can be channeled into spells to increase their size, number, and range. It can also be used to launch attacks from any direction within the zone. Spells can be created around a target to prevent escape, inside an enemy's spell to destroy it, or behind a target to catch them off guard.

Defensively, the mana can enhance mana detection and reaction time, as well as amplify my magic and other spells, allowing me to predict enemy attacks and enabling the user to move and/or stay in the air.

The demons start firing their spells while my sword becomes enveloped in darkness.

"Darkness Magic: Black Hole."

As I spin my blade, a small black hole forms from it, advancing toward the demons' powers and absorbing them.

[Darkness Magic] is exactly and completely opposite to [Light Magic] in every way, whether in attribute or speed.

But [Darkness Magic] is particularly good at one thing.

Absorbing other magics.

Coating my sword in darkness again, I prepare another spell.

"Darkness Magic: Dark Slash."

With a swing of the sword, dozens of black blades shoot out, cutting through the demons.

Even the [Power of Destruction] of the Bael or the [Immortality] of the Phenex becomes useless, as the darkness devours other magics.

Looking to the side, I see large waves of fire coming toward me, destroying everything.

With a wave of my hand, I gather a large amount of moisture from the air, creating a wave of water that engulfs the flames, extinguishing them, and continues advancing toward the demons.

As it approaches them, I move my hand, making the wave of water take the form of a gigantic dragon that swallows the demons.

Clenching my fist, the water turns into a massive block of ice that shatters, creating dozens of ice spears that shoot toward the demons.

Many demons die upon being hit by the spears, but most create a large magical defense circle.

Smiling, I summon a spear from the [Gate of Babylon], and in my right hand appears the mark of my [Lightning Devil Slayer Magic].

Charging the spear with lightning, I prepare.

"Penetrate..." I say as I manifest the [Boosted Gear] in my left hand.

[Penetrate], says Ddraig's voice from within the [Boosted Gear].

"Lightning Devil Spear."

I throw the spear toward the barrier, enveloped in lightning.

The moment the barrier and the spear collide, the barrier vanishes as if it never existed.

This is due to one of Ddraig's abilities, [Penetration]—not what you're thinking, you perverts. This ability allows the user to destroy and penetrate any defense, whether physical or magical, so I simply enchanted it into the spear.

When the spear pierced the demons' defense and reached the sky, it unleashed massive amounts of lightning and storms, striking and killing many demons.

Seeing more demons approaching me, I raise my hand and charge a large amount of White Magic.

"Sacred Ray of the White God."

From my hand, gigantic rays of light shoot out, piercing the demons with the [White God Slayer Magic].

"Gil, you need to finish this quickly," I hear Enkidu's voice, and I can't help but agree. I need to clear this dungeon fast.

The problem is that most of the demons have gathered in front of the Boss tower, and I need to get through them, which will take a while.

"MASTER!"

I hear a voice before something hits the ground beside me, kicking up a cloud of dust that, when cleared, reveals Mordred in her armor, wielding Clarent.

"Hey, Mordred, done already?" I ask her.

"Yeah, they were boring," she grumbles.

Not that the demons could do much against Mordred, considering how strong she is even without releasing her Noble Phantasm.

"You gonna finish this?" she asks.

"Yeah, it's about time," I say, preparing myself.

I see a big grin cross Mordred's face.

"How about a bet?" she asks.

"What?"

"Whoever kills the most wins," she says with a smile.

"Alright, let's do it," I say, summoning a sword from the [Gate of Babylon].

It's a simple sword, not even a Noble Phantasm, with a medium-sized silver blade and a blue hilt.

But what makes it special is what resides within it.

A Djinn.

A Djinn is basically a being made of pure magic that inhabits its wielder's weapon, considered a King, granting various types of magic and abilities.

They were a kind of reward from some random dungeons I did, only obtained by defeating the Boss. I already have five of them—it's kind of rare for them to appear.

I raise my sword as a small magical circle appears on it.

This represents the Djinn inhabiting the sword.

"My servant of Wrath and Heroism, I command you, inhabit my body and transform it into the body of a great and powerful sorcerer."

At that moment, a massive lightning bolt strikes me, and my appearance begins to change.

When the lightning clears, my new appearance is revealed, resembling a dragon with two horns, a jewel on its forehead, an elaborate golden necklace, blue scale-like armor covering parts of my body, and a long tail.

"Masou: Baal."

The Djinn inhabiting my sword is Baal, the Djinn of Wrath and Heroism, capable of manipulating lightning.

Masou is basically a form where you transform into a great sorcerer by incorporating all of the Djinn's power, allowing you to wield its true abilities.

Though Mordred shows a bit of surprise, she's already familiar with some of my Djinns.

"Let's go!" Mordred shouts as she charges at the demons.

I start flying, thanks to Masou, and launch myself toward the demons.

The demons don't stand a chance. Those that get close are simply annihilated by my lightning. Looking at Mordred, I see she's destroying them with her Red Thunder.

---

It's been a while since my competition with Mordred started. Looking back, you'd see a massive number of demon corpses, either burned by lightning or completely obliterated.

Now, Mordred and I are standing in front of the Boss room.

"So, how many did you kill, Mordred?"

"55, Master," Mordred says with a smile, which I return.

"What a coincidence, I also killed 55," I say.

We stare at each other for a bit until Mordred speaks.

"Then whoever kills the Boss first wins," she says, and I nod in agreement.

We walk to the door, which opens.

[You are entering the Boss room. You can only leave after defeating it.]

[Good luck, host.]

Thanks, system.

When we enter the room, it lights up in flames all around, revealing the Boss.

It's huge, really massive—probably eight to nine meters tall, made entirely of molten lava stones with flames coming out of its eyes and mouth. It also has four arms and eyes, looking very much like a monster.

The monster starts emitting flames from its entire body as the temperature in the area rises, though I don't feel the heat due to my [Purgatory Dragon Slayer Magic] and natural resistance.

Mordred doesn't seem affected either.

"I'm gonna finish it before you can blink, Master," Mordred says with a grin.

"And I'll kill it before you can even breathe," I retort with a smile.

We end up getting carried away, throwing taunts at each other.

"I'll kill it first!" Mordred yells, annoyed.

"I'll kill it first!" I shout back.

"AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!"

We hear the monster roar.

"Don't interrupt us, mutt/idiot!" Mordred and I yell at the same time, pointing our swords at it.

From Clarent, red lightning energy surges, while from Baal's vessel, blue lightning emerges.

"Bararaq!"

"Clarent!"

Massive waves of lightning shoot simultaneously toward the demon, which can do nothing but be destroyed.

[Boss has been defeated.]

Damn, who hit it first?!

System, who hit first?

[The strikes landed at the same time.]

Damn!

"That was..." Mordred starts.

"At the same time," I finish.

We just stare into the void for a while.

"So, how about we settle this now, Master?" Mordred says, gripping Clarent's hilt, making it crackle with electricity.

"Yeah, let's settle it," I say, gripping Baal's vessel, lightning dancing around it.

We charge at each other, our swords clashing and repelling each other as lightning sparks from them.

Stepping back, I see Mordred gathering a massive amount of energy in her sword, glowing with red energy and lightning.

Wait, she's going to release her Noble Phantasm here?!

Storm clouds begin to form around me, and massive waves of lightning pour out, absorbed by Baal's vessel.

Damn!

"Clarent Blood..."

"Bararaq..."

"ARTHUR/SAIQA!"

All that could be seen were two lightning bolts, one red and one blue, colliding before an explosion.

**Scene Change.**

**Kuoh Academy.**

Well, here I am at school after my battle with Mordred.

The result of releasing Clarent and Bararaq Saiqa was a massive explosion that hit both me and Mordred.

Though our attacks canceled each other out, mine came out slightly on top.

No surprise there—while Clarent's release is strong, it wasn't as powerful as Bararaq Saiqa, which could easily obliterate a mountain range.

Though I've got a slight pain in my arm, Mordred got a bit injured too and used it as an excuse to stay home.

That damn girl!!!

It didn't take long for my eyes to spot Koneko and Asia. When the white-haired devil saw me, her entire body tensed. I could tell she was trembling slightly and trying to escape.

But there was a problem—Asia was holding her hand, dragging her toward me.

Good job, Asia!

The reason Asia is here is that she was enrolled in school along with me and Mordred.

"Gilgamesh-san! I brought Koneko-san," Asia said when she saw me.

"Ah, good. Thanks, Asia," I replied in a grateful tone, and the blonde girl smiled. I then turned to Koneko, who tensed when I smiled at her.

"Hello, Koneko, can I call you that?" She nodded, and my smile widened a bit.

"Hello, Koneko, it's a pleasure to meet you again."

Koneko just nodded. Her face might've been blank, but I could see the slight trembling in her body and the sweat on her forehead.

I sighed inwardly. Well, it wasn't surprising to see her like this. Could you imagine being in her position? If you were standing in front of a dragon who had threatened to eat you during your first meeting, wouldn't you be scared too?

"Koneko, relax," I said in my gentlest tone, and though the effect wasn't obvious, I noticed she relaxed a bit.

"I'm not going to hurt or eat you, so you don't need to fear me. In fact, it's the opposite," I said, and her eyes showed confusion for a moment.

"I came… to apologize…"

Her shock was clearly visible as her eyes widened, a surprised expression on her face.

"What I did during our first meeting… was too much, I think," I continued, still looking at her with an embarrassed expression.

"That's why I want to apologize to you."

There was a moment of silence as Koneko stared at me with confused eyes. I could tell she swallowed a lump in her throat before speaking.

"I… don't understand…" Her voice was full of confusion.

"Why don't you talk to Buchou? That would surely be easier?"

"Because she doesn't deserve it," I said with a firm expression.

"She tried to manipulate and enslave me, and no matter how kindly she might've treated me as a slave, it would still be slavery and manipulation. My nature as the host of the Welsh Dragon and King of Heroes won't allow that. If I found out I was being manipulated, master or not, Ddraig would be furious," I declared, and Koneko's eyes widened with slight horror at the mention of Ddraig's anger.

It was true that Ddraig was a very proud dragon. If I died and became Rias's servant, and found out we'd been manipulated, it wouldn't have been pretty. I barely managed to contain Ddraig's aura of pure hatred directed at Rias for her blatant disrespect and trying to act innocent back then. True, he wouldn't hurt anyone, but suppressing his raging aura would be very annoying and still traumatic for the targets. I didn't think Rias could stand being near me if that had happened.

"I'd die… I'm sure of it, but Rias Gremory would die with me. I can guarantee that," I said firmly, knowing that even in a state of rage, I could easily take down Rias Gremory.

"Then why?" Koneko asked again, clearly confused. Why was I apologizing to her but not her master?

"Because I treated you like her," I said softly.

"When I walked into that room, I saw everyone as Rias Gremory, as a demon who tried to manipulate my life. And when I saw your horrified look…" I closed my eyes and paused as Koneko's horror flashed through my mind. "I only feel regret for that… I was pretty naïve back then. I admit it, and what I did to you was wrong."

Koneko looked at me with a blank face, all her fear seeming to have vanished. True, she was still cautious—I could tell—but she was more confused now.

"There's also Akeno-fukubuchou and Kiba… Why me?" she asked again.

"Akeno-san, for some strange reason, gives me a vibe similar to Rias Gremory," I said, then shook my head. "I don't like her… The aura she exudes feels more obscene and darker than Rias's. I'm not talking about strength but the nature of her presence…" It was true—Akeno Himejima's aura was stranger than Rias's or Sona's. It was dark like a demon's, but the corruption it carried was greater than those two.

It was likely because she was a mix of a fallen angel and a devil. The only aura that surpassed a devil's in terms of corruption was that of a fallen angel. They fell from heaven due to being corrupted by sin. Think that's absurd? How could a fallen angel be more corrupt than a demon? Simple.

The brighter the light shines, the darker it becomes when it turns black.

"As for Kiba… That guy doesn't get scared as easily as you," I declared.

"No offense, it's because of your status as a Nekomata." Koneko's eyes widened in surprise.

"Oh, don't be surprised, I can sense you're a Youkai and quite adept at Senjutsu." Here, I grimaced, realizing she must've seen something worse than Rias and the others, but surprisingly, I saw her pale too. "And that's why I deeply apologize to you," I said sincerely, bowing my head slightly.

Koneko fell silent upon hearing this. I could see that, despite her blank face, she was genuinely shaken and didn't know what to say. I didn't blame her—I'd probably have the same expression in her position.

"I also brought a cake I made as an apology," I said, trying to bribe her, and she perked up at that.

"Cake?"

"Yeah! I made it myself, don't worry, it's not poisoned. I swear on Ddraig's name and my status as Sekiryuutei," I declared firmly, holding out the box to her.

Koneko stared intently at the box, her golden eyes fixed on it like it was some kind of prey. Slowly, she took the box from me and opened it to reveal the food I'd made, with a fork and spoon already inside.

"Gilgamesh-san's cooking is great," Asia chimed in, and I puffed out my chest slightly.

I've always enjoyed cooking, and traveling the world teaches you a few things. I also learned from Sebas, but the main thing is the [Gate of Babylon]. It contains only the best things in the world, from food and drinks to weapons.

And if I take a knife from there, one used by a great chef, thanks to [Weapon Proficiency], I could acquire all the knowledge of the culinary arts.

Koneko seemed convinced after hearing Asia as she looked at the white cake she was holding. She scooped a spoonful of cake and put it in her mouth before her eyes widened.

"mmmmMMMMM!"

Koneko's eyes closed, her lips curled upward into a pleasant smile. She then let out a cute moan, and to be honest, that moan sounded like she'd just had an orgasm! That dreamy look of hers wasn't helping either!

I held back the blush threatening to surface—that moan was clearly… too hot, if you ask me. What? I'm a man! A teenager, even! I still have raging hormones!

Meanwhile, Asia was openly blushing at Koneko's moan.

After swallowing the bite, Koneko looked at the rest of the cake with sparkling eyes, as if it were some sacred food. She slowly raised her head to me, and there was no longer any fear in her eyes, but a firm, demanding look.

"Do you have more?" she asked me.

"You'll have to finish that one first if you want another," I said with a laugh. This girl was really cute! Her blank face strangely suited her. Ahh, she was one of those Kuudere types, wasn't she? That's rare—I didn't expect to meet one now.

"Done…"

I blinked when she said that and looked at the box, my jaw dropping. It was empty! Empty! The cake! Where was it?! Where was the cake?!

"What the hell…" I muttered with wide eyes and shock. "W-where's the cake?" I asked Koneko immediately.

"I ate it," Koneko said, wiping her mouth with a tissue.

"Koneko…" I called, my tone solemn and my face grim. "Koneko, the cake was 20cm in diameter. How in the name of Satan, Odin, God, Zeus, and Ophis did you eat it so fast!" I shouted by the end, seriously, how the hell did she finish the cake so quickly?!

Even Mordred can't eat that fast!

"I ate it," Koneko repeated, her face and tone unchanged, as if she were talking to a foolish child.

"That's not an answer!" I groaned. "You! You!" I shut my mouth before slapping my face with my palm hard. I slowly let out a heavy sigh and shook my head. "You know what? For the sake of my sanity, let's pretend we never had this conversation," I said to her with a serious tone, and Koneko just tilted her head to the side, still with a blank face.
