Chapter 42 - New Life DxD- Chapter 40

Grayfia, who snapped out of her shock upon seeing her husband kneeling and trembling, widened her eyes and tried to help her husband, but a single glance from Gilgamesh, with a draconic emerald glow, was enough to freeze her as she recalled that feeling of helplessness.

Gilgamesh's words pulled Sirzechs out of his trance.

Sirzechs forcibly controlled his trembling body. He tried to calm himself. It was a difficult and arduous task, but after ten seconds of regulating his breathing, he finally calmed down.

Sirzechs stood up, resisting his mind and instincts that were still trying to make him kneel.

When he stood, he tried to look at Gilgamesh, but every time he seemed to focus on his eyes, his body instinctively avoided looking, and that terrified and shook his soul with fear.

Gilgamesh looked at Sirzechs and laughed.

"I think we understand each other, Sirzechs. If you don't attack me, I won't attack you," Gilgamesh said calmly.

Sirzechs only nodded as he approached his wife, who was still frozen, then placed his hand on her, and a magical circle appeared beneath them, and they disappeared.

Gilgamesh let out a sigh as he sat on his couch.

All his friends looked at him apprehensively because they had never seen him act so hostile toward anyone.

"Are you sure about this, Gil?" Enkidu asked as he approached.

They knew that Gilgamesh had met Azazel and torn off the arm of the Fallen Angels' leader, and now he had threatened Sirzechs and his wife, which could result in a war or a great battle.

"It was necessary. I needed to make my point clear to them, to let them know they wouldn't want me as an enemy," Gilgamesh said without even looking at his group.

[Partner is right,] said Ddraig, manifesting as an emerald green light in Gilgamesh's left hand: [It's not about respect; it's about fear. Only absolute terror keeps people from trying anything against you. It all comes down to power.]

Ddraig was right; in the supernatural world, only power matters.

It all comes down to power.

The strong rule while the weak die.

Those with power do what they want with the weak.

Truly, the encounter with Azazel was not planned but rather surprising for Gilgamesh, but it still served to make his point to Azazel, so the Fallen Angel wouldn't challenge him. After all, a mere threat cost him his arm.

Although Gilgamesh wasn't expecting Sirzechs, he knew that sooner or later the Crimson Maou would come after him. After all, he wouldn't let a strong ally slip away in his territory.

Gilgamesh also admitted that Sirzechs' offers were good, but none of them would be acceptable to him. After all, he would never sell his humanity for power, especially since he already had plenty of power as it was.

Gilgamesh was also surprised by Grayfia's sudden outburst and her power, which, while impressive, wasn't enough to intimidate him.

Grayfia's power was great, on the level of a Satan-class demon, but neutralizing her was very easy. To neutralize her power, Gilgamesh cut it off at the root and neutralized it using his own power and the [Magic Negation] ability.

As the name suggests, this ability allows its user to negate and nullify any form of magic and its derivatives. However, it's not possible to nullify the magic within someone's body, as that is part of the person. The most it can do is prevent the target from using magic for a while.

And that was more than enough to terrify Grayfia. Gilgamesh admitted that her expression was hilarious, quite different from her usual stoic face.

Gilgamesh also admitted that he was surprised by Sirzechs' outburst and power; he truly had great power and deserved his title as the Strongest Demon.

He really is powerful, but not enough.

To neutralize him, Gilgamesh used his [Magic Negation], but because Sirzechs was far more powerful than Grayfia, Gilgamesh needed to touch him to use his ability and temporarily nullify Sirzechs' power.

Right after that, Gilgamesh used his [Haoshoku Haki] to nullify Sirzechs' will to fight. However, even for Gilgamesh, it would be difficult to make Sirzechs faint due to the small difference in power between them, unless Gilgamesh used his Longinus.

After that, Gilgamesh used his [Emperor Eye], which allowed him to anticipate his opponents' movements through their muscular responses, to put him in an inferior position.

Then, upon touching Sirzechs, Gilgamesh used a trick Ddraig had taught him in the past: how to establish hierarchy through total intimidation. He didn't know what kind of hallucination Sirzechs' brain showed him, but it could be reckless. What matters is the result, not the process.

[Intimidation], a trick Ddraig had taught him in the past. It was similar but fundamentally different from killing intent. While killing intent was a potent intention to kill someone, [Intimidation] had the intent to show how powerless the target was in front of him. Of course, the target had to be much weaker than the user. After all, it would be futile for a calf to intimidate a tiger. It would be pitiful and laughable for prey to intimidate a predator.

Instead of giving off a strong killing intent, this trick allows the target to know that I am far, far stronger than them. Whatever the target tries, it's futile and meaningless against the absolute power of the Celestial Dragon at its peak. Well, Ddraig and Albion were two monsters at their peak. They feared no one except Ophis and the ultimate existence known as the Apocalyptic Red Dragon and the Beast of the Apocalypse.

Gilgamesh sighed as he leaned back on the couch.

"Are you sure they won't unite against you, young master?" Sebas asked.

That was their biggest concern.

After all, what you don't understand, you fear, and what you fear, you seek to destroy.

If Sirzechs and Azazel didn't unite against them, although they weren't afraid or hesitant to face them, if a battle broke out against the Fallen Angels and Demons factions, it's likely that the Angels would side with them, either due to Gilgamesh's reputation in the Church or the appreciation the Four Great Seraphs, Michael, Gabriel, Uriel, and Raphael, had for him.

Although if a battle occurred, Gilgamesh and his group would have a good chance of winning. After all, Gilgamesh alone could defeat the faction leaders, and the rest would be simple.

"Don't worry, Sebas, they won't," Gilgamesh said firmly.

Everyone was surprised by the firmness in Gilgamesh's voice; it seemed he was completely certain of this.

Then, for the first time, Gilgamesh turned and looked at them.

While Gilgamesh's right eye was normal, with a crimson slit iris, his left eye was a brighter red with black patterns around it.

Gilgamesh's [Eternal Mangekyou Sharingan] was activated.

"I see, so you used the ability of your left eye," Sebas said in agreement, confusing the others.

Gilgamesh possesses all the abilities of the [Eternal Mangekyou Sharingan], but he has two original abilities in his eyes that weren't acquired through the system. The ability he used was the original one of his left eye.

[Kotoamatsukami] or [Distinguished Heavenly Gods].

[Kotoamatsukami] is one of the greatest abilities of the [Eternal Mangekyou Sharingan], and although it's not combat-oriented, it is undoubtedly one of the most powerful and dangerous abilities of the [Mangekyou Sharingan].

It allows its user to indirectly manipulate a person's mind through memories, experiences, and false intuitions. It could make a father kill his beloved son and think he did it of his own free will.

Truly one of the most dangerous abilities of these eyes.

Gilgamesh had used this ability on Azazel and Sirzechs, but he didn't use such a drastic measure. He implanted the idea of 'Protection' in their minds so that any thought they had that would harm or hurt Gilgamesh and his group would be redirected and changed to protection.

They would always try to protect Gilgamesh and his group.

Thus, Sirzechs and Azazel ended up becoming Gilgamesh's allies without even knowing it.

Gilgamesh sighed and deactivated his MSE (Eternal Mangekyou Sharingan) and looked at his friends.

All of them seemed surprised and cautious, though Gilgamesh couldn't blame them. After all, it was rare for him to act this way.

"Sorry, guys, I scared you," Gilgamesh said, laughing nervously.

Everyone let out relieved sighs.

"You scared us, Gil," Valerie said, receiving a nod from Asia.

"Damn, I thought you were going to fight right here," Mordred said, laughing, though she really wanted them to fight there.

"Be more careful, Gilgamesh," Arturia said, worried about her new master.

Gilgamesh laughed nervously at his group until he stood up and stretched.

"So, anyone want to eat something?" Gilgamesh asked his group, who nodded.

"Would you like assistance, young master?" Sebas asked as he approached.

"Actually, I have a request for you, a mission. Will you accept?" Gilgamesh asked Sebas, leaving the butler and the group confused.

Sebas bowed slightly while placing his hand against his chest.

"Just give the order," the butler said with conviction.

Gilgamesh smiled and then explained the mission he had accepted to the butler.

Gilgamesh headed to the kitchen to cook food for his friends without worrying, as he knew Sebas would fulfill the mission.

Abandoned Warehouse, Kuoh City.

In a more secluded part of Kuoh City, there was an Abandoned Warehouse. Not much is known about this place, only that at some point before the series, it was abandoned, and at another point, members of the Hero Faction took it as a base to monitor the heiresses of the Gremory and Sitri Clans, two of the 72 pillars of the underworld, along with their peerages.

Currently, in this warehouse, there were several members of the Hero Faction, visibly disturbed.

It had been a few days since other main members who were there had gone after the Sekiryuutei and hadn't returned, and this was causing concern.

And that meant they were probably dead.

The group was preparing to set a trap to intercept the Sekiryuutei and his group, but for that, they needed to inform their leader, Cao Cao, to request reinforcements.

However, before anyone could do anything, the warehouse doors were blown open.

One of the giant doors was torn from its hinges, flying forward and nearly crushing some of the Hero Faction members before finally skidding and stopping a few meters from the door. The other door slammed violently against the wall, drawing the attention of everyone in the warehouse.

Emerging from the dust was Sebas, walking calmly with his arms behind his back.

All the members of the Hero Faction quickly stepped forward and stood in front of Sebas. None of them had summoned their weapons because the man emitted no power at all.

"Who are you, old man?" shouted one of the members, who seemed to be the youngest, in an arrogant tone.

Sebas bowed slightly to the men before speaking:

"My name is Sebas. I came here at the request of my master, the Sekiryuutei, Gilgamesh," Sebas said respectfully to everyone.

All the members of the Hero Faction widened their eyes upon hearing this.

"So where are my friends?" one of them asked.

Sebas promptly responded.

"Unfortunately, your allies attacked the young master, and so he killed them," Sebas said to the Hero Faction members, who widened their eyes.

But before they could even respond, Sebas intervened.

"My master requests that you leave peacefully and never return to this city, so you may remain alive," Sebas said to them.

The Hero Faction members stared at this in disbelief.

"Leave?! You must be taking us too lightly! We're going to kill you here and now, and then we'll kill him! Your damn master isn't a hero; he's just an idiot—"

But he couldn't finish speaking because, in an instant, Sebas appeared in front of him and delivered a punch so strong that the shockwave destroyed his head.

"To think that a worm like you dares to use such vile words against the young master. You are nothing more than a worm that deserves death; your very existence is a sin," Sebas said with disgust.

Sebas looked at the other Hero Faction members, all of whom had their Sacred Gears activated and various magical circles around them.

"You think you can defeat us?" one of the members questioned while holding a bow in his hand.

"Taking me lightly? No, it's you who are taking me lightly. My name is Sebas. The one who gave me my name is the strongest warrior. The master I serve is a Supreme Being. But I can see it's pointless to talk about him to inferior creatures like you. I'm tired of talking. Let's finish this," Sebas said calmly.

They quickly began firing energy waves at Sebas with their magic or Sacred Gears. The butler quickly dodged with incredible skill, to everyone's astonishment.

In an instant, Sebas disappeared and appeared in front of one of the members, delivering a blow so strong to his head that it exploded.

Raising his hand in the shape of a blade, Sebas brought it down, and in that instant, all the other Hero Faction members were decapitated.

Such was the power of the man who had trained and taught Gilgamesh all these years.

Sebas looked around and saw that it was full of bodies and blood everywhere.

Raising his right hand, he made a purple energy sphere created from [Destruction Magic] appear and launched it at the bodies.

The energy began to annihilate everything in its path and wiped everything out of existence, whether it was the bodies or the warehouse itself.

Sebas sighed before leaving and returning home.

The next day, all the local residents would wonder what had happened to the warehouse that had literally disappeared from existence.

Another Day.

Kuoh Academy.

Currently, in the hallways of Kuoh Academy, most students were leaving to go home, as it was past school hours.

However, even though it was closing time, it was still possible to see some students walking through the hallways.

Among them was Gilgamesh, who walked through the hallways, drawing attention wherever he went, with everyone looking at him.

Gilgamesh was heading toward the Occult Research Club room at Rias' request.

The Occult Research Club at Kuoh Academy was originally disbanded due to a lack of members. After entering high school, Rias and Akeno revived the club as president and vice-president, eventually turning it into a base for Rias and her servants.

The club itself serves as a front for Rias' servants and other supernatural individuals who appear later in the series, allowing them to skip school activities or classes in case of emergencies, such as hunting a Stray Demon or destroying a Fallen Angel.

The abandoned dormitory was secured with school resources and is used as a base that prevents scrutiny from other students.

The club building is a three-story structure, with the third floor serving as a clock tower. It is painted white with a black roof, with vines climbing up to the second floor.

Gilgamesh quickly reached the club's door and knocked twice until he heard an "enter," then turned the doorknob to enter.

The interior of the club room is a wood-paneled room with Victorian-style sofas and chairs along the walls. One side is set up to be used as a bathroom, and a large magical circle from the Gremory Family is also there to allow teleportation to and from clients.

Gilgamesh entered the room and saw Rias sitting at her desk with Akeno beside her making tea.

Koneko was sitting on a sofa eating a chocolate bar, and Kiba was sitting next to her polishing his sword.

The biggest difference was the addition of Issei Hyoudou, who was sitting on another sofa, leering lasciviously at Rias' bouncing breasts.

Gilgamesh crossed his arms.

"So, what did you want, Gremory-san?" Gilgamesh asked seriously.

Rias turned her gaze to Gilgamesh and smiled nervously.

"Hey, Gilgamesh-san," Rias said, smiling nervously.

She still remembered the power Gilgamesh wielded, and it still frightened her.

When she met him, she thought he wouldn't attack her because that would be the same as picking a fight with the Gremory Clan, one of the 72 pillars of the underworld, and with Sirzechs Lucifer, one of the Four Maous.

But she admitted she felt guilty when she manipulated him, especially after the conversation she had with her parents.

Her conversation with her parents was horrible; she had never been so outraged by her family, and her parents even wanted to remove her from their territory, but thanks to her brother, she managed to stay.
