Gilgamesh continued walking toward where he sensed Riser's power until he was stopped when several members of Riser's—er, I mean, the Roasted Chicken's—peerage stood in his way.
Six members of Riser's peerage blocked his path.
The [Rooks] Isabela and Xuelan, the [Knights] Karlamine and Siris, and the [Bishops] Mihae and Ravel Phenex, who stood further back.
Isabela was a woman with short light brown hair and gray eyes. Her hair had three red streaks and she wore a plain white mask covering the right side of her face. Her outfit consisted of a black jacket and matching jeans. The jacket had wide shoulders and a wide collar, with three leather straps on both arms. It was slightly open, revealing her rather large breasts and cleavage, and was cropped at her midriff. Her jeans had a section (on the right pant leg) cut out, revealing some of her thighs and backside, and featured three leather straps on her calves, just below her ankles, with two extra straps on the right pant leg to hold it in place. She also wore black fighting gloves and boots to enhance her strikes.
Xuelan was a well-endowed young woman of Chinese descent with shoulder-length black hair and teal eyes. Her hair had two Chinese-style buns on both sides of her head, while the front featured a fringe that formed a slight V-shape on her forehead.
Her outfit consisted of a navy blue qipao with golden details, a white sash around her waist, and low-heeled black shoes. The qipao was open at the chest area, revealing Xuelan's breasts and cleavage. She also wore black arm guards over her forearms. She wore no underwear.
Karlamine was a young woman with light brown hair and green eyes. Her outfit consisted of a full set of silver armor with black details that appeared to be a cross between a European knight (chest plate, gauntlets, and greaves) and a Japanese samurai (hip and shoulder plates), and she wore a headband that crossed her hair and forehead. She was equipped with a broadsword and a dagger, both attached with brown belts hanging from her hip. The broadsword was hung on her left hip, featuring a red gem on the hilt and bandages on the grip. The dagger, located behind her hip, had a golden handle with bandages on the grip.
Siris was a tall young woman with long black hair with a dark blue tint and brown eyes. Her hair featured five thin ponytails around her head, held up by a golden hair accessory on top. Her outfit consisted of a white blouse with black details styled like a Chinese cheongsam, red shorts, and knee-high armored boots with matching gauntlets. The top featured a diamond-shaped cutout at the chest, revealing her breasts and cleavage.
Siris was primarily seen with a giant Zweihänder mounted on her back when not in use. It had a black blade with silver edges and a black handle with a red grip.
Mihae was a young woman most notably always seen wearing a kimono with a purple, orange, and pink color pattern, with her hair tied to the opposite side.
Ravel was a beautiful young woman with dark blue eyes. She had long blonde hair tied in twintails with large drill-like curls and blue ribbons holding them in place. The front of her hair had several bangs hanging over her forehead, with a V-shaped bang hanging at the tip of her nose. Ravel's body measurements were [B85-W59-H84 cm] [B33-W23-H33 in]; her height was 153 cm (5 feet 0 inches), and her body weight was [47 kg].
Her initial outfit consisted of a light purple dress with dark purple details and a blue ribbon at the front. At the back, three feather-like extensions resembling a bird's tail protruded from the dress, which, when combined with her fiery wings, gave her a bird-like appearance.
Karlamine stepped forward while unsheathing her sword.
"I commend your courage for appearing before all of us," Karlamine said with a smile.
"Enough nonsense, Karlamine, let's just defeat him," Siris said to the other [Knight].
All of them, except Ravel, quickly positioned themselves in front of Gilgamesh in fighting stances.
Gilgamesh smiled.
"Very well, I suppose I should draw my weapon too," Gilgamesh said, smiling.
"Alright, draw your weapon," Karlamine said, expecting Gilgamesh to grab a weapon.
But it seemed none of the others were going to wait.
Gilgamesh smiled, and the space around him rippled into golden waves, from which various weapons emerged.
The most diverse weapons began to appear from the ripples—swords, axes, halberds, and spears, among dozens of others, all aimed at Riser's servants.
All of them widened their eyes at the sight of the attack.
"Sorry, but I don't use just one weapon," Gilgamesh said, and with a wave of his hand, all the weapons shot toward the devils.
It was unprecedented when all the weapons fell upon them; whether they used magic or weapons, everything was shattered when it collided with Gilgamesh's.
When they all crashed onto the battlefield, massive explosions erupted.
[One Bishop, two Knights, and two Rooks of Riser Phenex have retired]
Grayfia's voice announced the defeat of several of Riser's pieces.
Gilgamesh looked at Ravel, who wore a frightened expression, but before he could approach, several explosions rained down on Gilgamesh's body, causing the ground to shake.
The source of the explosions was a woman hovering in the air with a magical staff pointed at where Gilgamesh stood, panting.
She was a voluptuous woman with long, wavy purple hair cascading down her back and matching eyes. In the front, the right side of her hair fell over her breast, covering her right eye, while the left side fell near the top of her skirt.
Her outfit was a dress composed of a navy blue tunic with golden details and a light blue skirt with open sides, black shoes, and matching thigh-high stockings with garters. The top revealed much of her cleavage and was held together with a gold choker with blue and red jewels. Over it, she wore a white overcoat with black and gold details and matching trim. As accessories, she wore a black headband with a reddish-orange jewel over her forehead to keep her long hair in place, and she wielded a staff-shaped scepter in battle. For cosmetics, she wore purple lipstick and nail polish, matching her eyes and hair.
It was Yubelluna, Riser Phenex's [Queen].
Yubelluna had been ordered by Riser to take advantage of the distraction caused by the other peerage members to attack Gilgamesh with all her power and eliminate him.
She was surprised by this but did as ordered.
"It seems you were defeated without even using your Sacred Gear, how disappointing for the King of Heroes," Yubelluna said sarcastically.
The demons were already cheering with joy, shouting that a human could never defeat them.
But when the dust settled, Gilgamesh was revealed, not even scratched, to the horror of all.
"You call that an explosion? I'll show you what an explosion is," Gilgamesh said, pointing his hand at Yubelluna.
Suddenly, dozens of magical runes and circles appeared around the woman, who was stunned.
When the magical power filled them, an explosion erupted, creating a gust of wind so strong it shook the trees and filled the sky.
[Riser Phenex's Queen has retired]
Grayfia's voice announced Yubelluna's defeat.
Gilgamesh turned his gaze to Ravel, who was trembling.
Ravel quickly raised her hands in surrender.
"I-I don't want to fight," Ravel stammered nervously.
Gilgamesh approached her, placed his hand on her head, and ruffled her hair while laughing.
Ravel's face turned completely red.
"I know you don't. Stay here, or you might get hurt," Gilgamesh said as he moved forward, leaving Ravel behind.
**With the Four Great Satans**
"That was impressive," Serafall said with a visibly impressed look.
"Truly impressive. The magic he used was very precise and required a lot of control, especially to place them in the air and make them undetectable. And those weapons too—those are the legendary treasures of Gilgamesh? Impressive," Ajuka said, surprised and very curious about Gilgamesh's abilities.
"Yes. We need to find a way to get him on our side or at least not make him an enemy," Sirzechs said, turning to his friends, who nodded in agreement.
They all gathered as they began discussing a plan to make Gilgamesh join their faction.
**With Gilgamesh**
In front of the Kuoh Academy field, a battle was taking place.
Two figures stood face to face. One was Riser, glaring at his opponent with a furious look, while Gilgamesh looked at him impassively. Suddenly, a giant flame erupted from Riser's back, transforming into a massive pair of wings.
[New Quest]
[Title: A Roasted Chicken]
[Description: Defeat Riser Phenex]
[Reward: 5,000 Exp, 100,000 Gold, Tori Tori no Mi: Phoenix Model, Sunshine Magic, Snatch Magic]
Gilgamesh smiled when he saw the quest and rewards, then looked at Riser.
"Ready?" Gilgamesh asked.
"Ready?" Riser scoffed, rising into the sky. "I wield the power of the Phoenix. An insignificant mortal like you isn't even worthy of standing on the same stage as me."
Before Gilgamesh could respond, Riser sent a storm of flames directly at the boy. As far as Ravel, who was watching, could tell, no conscious effort was made to dodge the attack. Gilgamesh simply stood there and allowed the jets of flames to engulf his body completely. The force of the attack caused the entire forest beside the school to start burning, and Ravel could feel the intense heat from her position.
Even if Gilgamesh had managed to dodge, the raw heat of the fire should have melted his skin. Ravel bit her lip and turned away, not wanting to witness the gruesome death of a human teenager.
"This is your fire?"
Gilgamesh stood, enveloped in flames. The fire acted like an entity, coiling around him like snakes. Even as the fire climbed up his arm, his skin wasn't burned. His entire body was immune to the famed fire of the Phenex House.
With a single swing of his arm, the flames dissipated. At that point, a look of panic appeared on Riser's face, and he tried to send another burst of fire at Gilgamesh, but this time, the fire stopped midway. It condensed into an incredibly dense sphere of pure energy and floated toward Gilgamesh, where he plucked it from the sky and placed it in his mouth, swallowing it in one gulp and laughing.
Now, it wasn't just Riser who was freaking out. Every demon in the room with a pair of eyes who could see what was happening had their jaws on the floor.
"What?!" Riser's surprise was quickly replaced by rage. "You dare mock me?"
In a burst of fire, Riser propelled himself forward with insane speed and attempted to strike Gilgamesh. Just as he was about to make impact with the boy, a massive crack resounded across the battlefield, and Riser's momentum was completely nullified. Ravel couldn't even catch the movement that occurred, but Gilgamesh managed to deliver some kind of blow that smashed Riser's face and sent him flying to the other side of the barrier, crashing into the ground in a pitiful heap. His fiery wings extinguished as his regenerative powers kicked in, but Gilgamesh didn't stop there.
One moment, he was on the other side of the battlefield; the next, Gilgamesh was right above Riser's body. With a stomp on his shoulder blade, Gilgamesh pressed Riser's body into the ground while his free hand grabbed the devil's right arm. Almost like child's play, Gilgamesh ripped the arm off entirely and tossed it toward the center of the arena, splattering blood everywhere.
Ravel screamed for him to stop, but Gilgamesh didn't hesitate. Methodically, Gilgamesh grabbed Riser by the neck and threw him across the battlefield. The devil's battered body crashed into a mountain before falling to the ground.
Gilgamesh looked at his clothes and, apparently noticing some kind of stain, said, "Damn. I don't think I can get that out."
"You…" Riser staggered, already beginning to regrow his arm, "you bastard! You piece of shit! How dare you—"
"You have very strong regeneration," Gilgamesh said simply. "I suppose it's because of that fact that you can somehow delude yourself into believing you have a chance of beating me."
Riser quickly regenerated his hand and pointed at Gilgamesh, making flames appear and shoot toward the King of Heroes.
Gilgamesh raised his hand, causing black flames to emerge and clash against Riser's.
The flames met and collided, but Gilgamesh's black flames quickly annihilated Riser's and continued advancing toward the devil.
Riser defended himself with his arm, letting the flames engulf it.
Facing the flames, Riser laughed.
"You want to beat me with flames? Me, a Phenex, the one who commands flames and winds? That's ridiculous," Riser shouted with laughter.
But when Riser was about to attack Gilgamesh, he widened his eyes as he felt his skin burning.
Looking at his arm, he saw it was burning.
"AHHHHHHHH, my arm!" Riser screamed as he fell to the ground with his arm burning.
All the spectators watched with wide eyes.
Fire had burned a Phenex.
What kind of fire was this?
Gilgamesh, while everyone was shocked, said, "Don't compare my flames to yours. While your flames are those of hell, mine are the black flames of purgatory, capable of burning anything, even an immortal," Gilgamesh explained, making everyone widen their eyes.
"Don't worry, I'll help you," Gilgamesh said with a wicked smile.
Beside him, a golden ripple appeared, and from it emerged a weapon.
It was a special sword resembling a scythe, with the cutting edge on the inner side of the blade, though it wasn't a remarkable sword in itself.
In an instant, the sword shot forward at astonishing speed and sliced through Riser's arm where the flames were.
His arm fell to the ground and, a second later, was completely burned and incinerated by the flames.
Riser's eyes widened. Where the blade had cut his arm, it wasn't regenerating. Where his right arm should have been, there was only a stump stopping just above the elbow. Everyone in the room began to understand the event that had just occurred: Gilgamesh had somehow completely disabled the famed regenerative ability of the Phenex House. Riser, who was starting to realize this himself, fell to his knees as he stared at the stump of his arm.
He quickly looked back and saw the sword that cut him dissolving into golden dust.
"What is this…?" Riser said, bewildered.
"Your arm will never regenerate, Phenex," Gilgamesh said, catching Riser's attention. "That's no ordinary weapon. It's Harpe, the weapon given by the Greek God Hermes to the great hero Perseus to slay Medusa, a weapon capable of killing immortals," Gilgamesh said, making everyone widen their eyes.
