Audrey's POV

Alpha children were meant to be strong, unshakable, and proud. But me? I was nothing like that. I was different, painfully so.

The fork slipped from my hand and clattered against the plate, the sharp noise snapping me back to reality. I looked up and locked eyes with Katherine.

She rolled her eyes, sighing dramatically. "Baby, why does she have to eat with us?" Her voice dripped with irritation as she shifted her gaze toward Liam, who was sipping his coffee as though the world revolved around his calm.

"She used to dine with me when Father was around," he replied casually, lifting another forkful of pancake.

"But your father isn't around anymore," Katherine muttered beneath her breath, but not quietly enough.

Liam's head snapped up. "What do you want, Kat?"

"I don't want her to dine with us. She can go eat with the maids," she said, her voice as smooth and cutting as broken glass. "There's no difference between her and the maids. They're all weaklings."
