Chapter 9: Training the Youths
In a special combat and training arena inside the tribe's territory, a large, brave man with a strong build steps forward.
Man: "I am Abdul Rahim, one of the tribe's combat trainers. Are you ready to fight?!"
Some of the young trainees shout back confidently, while others remain silent.
Abdul Rahim: "You sound like cowards! I said... ARE YOU READYYYYY?!" (shouting loudly)
Youths: "YES!!!"
Abdul Rahim: "There are many types of magic. The most important ones are: Emission, Summoning, Special, Influence, Illusion, Talismans, and Astrology.
I'll explain each one!"
---
Emission Magic is the most common form. From what we understand, you release energy that violently pushes the air in front of you, striking the enemy with deadly force—if you're strong enough.
Summoning Magic is less common and limited. The user can summon fighters from the jinn to aid in combat, but only until their own energy is exhausted.
Special Magic is also common. The user cannot activate their magical power except through a specific weapon they've used for a long time—one that becomes a part of them for life.
Influence Magic is extremely dangerous. It affects the minds of others. Only a limited number of people are known to wield this type.
Illusion Magic creates fake images to deceive enemies. You might believe the ground is burning—but it's not real. This gives the user an edge by exploiting fear and confusion.
Talisman Magic and Astrology Magic are both extremely rare.
Talisman Magic: If you read the runes or sigils drawn by the caster, you'll be caught in a deadly trap—especially if you're weak. If you ever see talismans: RUN!
Astrology Magic: The user can only access their power during natural celestial phenomena like eclipses, volcanoes, earthquakes, or cosmic alignments. But when they do—it's terrifyingly powerful.
There's also a category called Control Magic, which varies widely between users. It allows them to manipulate the terrain and use it in battle. Most people fail at mastering it though.
---
Abdul Rahim: "Now... split into groups and begin your training."
The young warriors begin training with weapons and try to awaken their magical energy. Among them, only Nazek manages to unlock her power—it turns out to be Illusion Magic.
Imran, Absi, and Nazek meet other new recruits:
Raheem, 16 years old
Eyad, 18
Fahmi, 17
Leila, 16
They all gather and spar against each other in a training match.
From a distance, Samir and Riyadh observe.
Riyadh: "It seems your niece is quite talented. She's already accessed her magic power."
Samir: "Looks like it. She's smart and very focused."
Riyadh: "We'll need a lot more strength if we hope to win this war."
Samir: "Let's wait and see… let's see what unfolds."
Over the next few days, most of the youths unlock their magical powers and start developing them—including Absi, whose magic turns out to be Speed. He gains incredible quickness, letting him move rapidly despite his heavy frame.
But… the only one who fails to awaken his magic is Imran.
