Chapter 177 - 177. Weight of the Truth

Lucian's POV

My eyes widened in disbelief. She didn't care? How could she not care? I was a walking nightmare, a contradiction of nature that shouldn't exist. I was dangerous to her in ways I'd never been before.

All the fear I'd been carrying, all the pain and horror and isolation of the past five days, came crashing down on me at once. Before I could stop myself, before I could maintain the facade of strength I'd been clinging to, I was crying.

The sobs came from somewhere deep in my chest, raw and broken and desperate. I'd been so terrified while they held me. They'd tortured me continuously, beaten me until I couldn't tell where one injury ended and another began, forced me to watch as they injected their poison into my veins over and over again.

I'd thought I was going to die in that place. I'd thought I'd never see sunlight again, never see the pack, never see her.

And now she was here, holding me while I fell apart, her small hands moving in soothing circles over my back.
