The first bullets hit the ground around us before the announcement even finished.
"Move!" Elias roared, already grabbing Dante and hauling him toward Rowan's vehicle.
My instinct was immediate. I reached for my shadows to create a shield, to protect everyone from the hail of bullets raining down from above.
Except nothing happened.
I stood there, hand outstretched uselessly, as reality crashed down. The shadows were gone. Malevolent's corruption had left with him, and whatever remained of my power was gone as well.
"Maeve!" Lucian grabbed my arm, yanking me toward the car as bullets pinged off the concrete where I'd been standing. "Run!"
We ran.
Freya was already at Rowan's vehicle, throwing open doors. Lucian practically threw me into the back seat before diving in after me. Elias shoved Dante in from the other side, then tried to squeeze his massive frame in after.
"The freed lycans!" Ronan shouted, looking at the unconscious bodies scattered across the square.
