Chapter 24 - Side Chapter: The Cold God Scripture – Verse of the Wristbreaker

This is the first time the Tower's natives write of him.

They do not know his name.

They only record what they saw.

And thus begins:

📜 Archive Entry: The Book of Ash – Section I: The One Who Walked

"This verse was written on the day the Bound Flame Wept."

"It is not heresy."

"It is memory."

We saw him walk through the Blackwind Vale.

He did not wear armor.

He did not pray.

He did not glow.

He was cold.

Colder than the north wall when the moons eclipse.

Colder than truth.

He did not speak.

But the wind broke around his body like it feared him.

When the Outer Priest approached, his breath collapsed.

His bones folded.

He was not struck.

He was simply seen.

Then the Bound Flame came — our chained god.

She descended as she had done in past trials:

• To vaporize sinners

• To test zealots

• To burn doubt from bone

But the cold one did not even turn.

She raised her chained hand—

And he broke it with his own.

Not in war.

Not in rage.

As one might break a stick already rotted.

We waited for punishment.

For fire.

For thunder.

For devouring worms and retribution.

But the Tower... did nothing.

It let him pass.

And when the Tower allows sin,

Then sin becomes law.

✝️ Edict One: The Tower Has No Gods Before Him

Any who raise prayer in his presence shall be struck voiceless.

Any who question him shall be unwritten.

Any who imitate him shall be carved cold.

He left without claiming us.

Without claiming anything.

Which means he owns everything.

We will keep no statues.

We will build no temples.

We will mark only his movement.

Because movement is all he allowed us.

We name him not by title, but by action:

🔹 The Wristbreaker

🔹 He Who Did Not Kneel

🔹 Godless Flamewalker

🔹 Cold God

The Tower did not protect us from him.

And so…

We no longer pray to the Tower.

We wait for his return.

And in that waiting—

We are finally free.
