Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Hinata - Father, We're Going to Live Together

Hiashi Hyuga: My daughter's been abducted?!

"Father, what did I do wrong?"

Hinata lifted her head, bringing her fingers together in front of her chest, her two index fingers poking each other nervously. She blinked innocently, her soft voice full of sweetness and confusion.

"Don't play dumb."

Hiashi Hyuga's face darkened, fists clenched, and his voice carried a restrained fury. "I heard everything from your escort, Hyuga Fuyu. He said you like that boy behind you, even said you wanted to keep him, and now you've brought him into the clan compound?"

"That's not true. I never said I liked Romon," Hinata shook her head. "Hyuga Fuyu must have misunderstood."

Hiashi's expression relaxed slightly.

So she doesn't like him… good.

Hinata is my daughter. By clan tradition, she's the next head of the main branch essentially the princess of the Hyuga clan. She absolutely cannot fall for some ordinary boy.

If she just appreciates his looks, that's another story. With the clan's wealth, keeping a pretty boy around isn't a problem.

Just as Hiashi's heart was beginning to calm, Hinata's sweet voice chimed in again.

"Even if I didn't say those words, Romon is the most important person to me. He's my other half."

"Father, from now on, I want you to treat Romon just like you treat me."

Hiashi's entire body tensed. His clenched fists trembled, veins bulging on his forehead.

Right now, he really wanted to yell at his daughter and ask what nonsense she was spouting.

Calling Romon your other half? Isn't that the same as calling him your husband?

But Hiashi held back.

After all, this was Hinata his daughter. And over the past year, she had done nothing but amaze him.

No one taught her, but she figured out chakra control techniques like walking on water and climbing trees all on her own. She even trained in her room until she could walk upside down across the ceiling.

She had also, completely without instruction, managed to create the Fourth Hokage's A-rank technique, the Rasengan, using nothing but balloons and sheer willpower.

Would such a genius of a daughter really be driven by something as silly as love?

Maybe… maybe there's more to her bringing Romon home.

Hiashi began to consider deeper possibilities. He turned toward the clan elders and even Hyuga Hizashi, along with the gathered branch family members.

"Everyone, that's enough. Disperse. I'll deal with this later."

"No, this can't just end here."

One of the elderly clan elders, his voice raspy with age, opened his clouded eyes and stared at Hiashi in disapproval.

"Hiashi, look what you've done to your daughter. She's only five five! And already talking about keeping a man? This is unacceptable. You need to stop her now. If she inherits the clan leadership one day and starts collecting men, the clan's wealth will be squandered!"

Hinata replied softly, "Elder… I won't do that. Romon is the only one I want."

With that, she wrapped her arms around Romon's arm.

The elder's face darkened further. He gave Hiashi a sharp look, silently demanding he do something.

Hiashi sighed. He glanced at his daughter and Romon, then at the elder whose eyes were still boring into him. He took several deep breaths to calm himself.

"…Fine. Just as I said before, this matter is closed for now. I'll handle it."

Hizashi nodded and motioned for the branch family members to withdraw.

Seeing that even Hizashi was leaving, and with Hiashi making clear promises to resolve the matter, the other elders finally backed off as well.

"Come with me," Hiashi said.

After the crowd had dispersed, he held back his urge to eliminate the boy who'd "abducted" his daughter and led the two of them to his private study.

Soon, the three arrived in Hiashi's chambers.

He closed the door behind them, sat down, and looked directly at Hinata.

"Hinata, you're a clever girl and a gifted ninja. Tell me the truth what's the real reason you brought Romon into the clan compound?"

"To keep him, of course."

Hiashi's face darkened all over again.

Before he could explode, Hinata added, "Well, yes, I want to keep him. But there's another important reason too… I just can't tell you that part yet."

So there is another purpose.

Hiashi was relieved. He activated his Byakugan and scanned Romon from head to toe. When he found no trace of chakra, he finally spoke.

"You're growing up, Hinata. I understand that you'll have your secrets. But by bringing Romon into the clan and openly calling him your other half, people will judge you. The clan elders won't let this slide."

"I don't care what anyone else thinks. Romon matters to me. He's very important."

"…"

Hiashi froze.

She's my daughter. She just met this boy… and already, he's more important than me?

Sensing her father's gloomy expression, Hinata added, "You're important to me too, Father."

It was clearly an afterthought, devoid of emotion nothing like the heartfelt declaration she made about Romon.

Hiashi sat silently, a little heartbroken. After a long pause, he gritted his teeth and said, "Fine… Romon can stay in the Hyuga compound. I'll prepare a guest room for him."

"No need. He can stay in my room."

Hiashi's eyes widened. He looked at Romon. Then at Hinata.

"You… you want him to sleep in your room?!"
