Alvin, now Torvane, read over his character profile.

There were still more sections he could view, such as personality traits, and active spells and abilities, but he did not need to focus on them yet.

"Just as I thought, Torvane is exactly as I designed him. Overpowered..."

Though there was one skill that he did not remember adding to Torvane's character.

[Ascended Death Sense ~ The ability to sense your impending death]

Not only was it a powerful skill, but it was at the Ascended Level, a rank above Master.

That meant that by even doing something as simple as reading someone's name, he could tell whether the person had intentions to kill him.

A fitting skill, but strange. How did this end up there? This definitely wasn't in my game before.

I'll have to keep it secret, otherwise I'll be forced to document the spell onto a scroll...

Alvin shook his head free of the thoughts. For the time being, he had to get into character.

If he wanted to survive, he couldn't just act as Torvane.

He had to be Torvane.

That started with planning.

Torvane made his way over to his large study desk. On the way, he passed a mirror that showed him a glimpse of his 6-foot, muscular frame.

Brown hair sat atop his head, framing eyes dark like the night sky.

Many had said he was too handsome to be a mage. Due to his trait [Stubborn], this led to him following the path of magic even stronger than before.

As he reached his desk and rummaged through piles of scrolls, journals, and historical texts about the world's events, he came across the student enrollment papers.

Every year, Hellsfall Academy would train a hundred students along the paths of magic, by using Hades Volcano.

These papers contained the names of every student he had accepted into the academy.

[Ascended Death Sense Activated]

As he began to flick the pages, one of his skills was naturally activated. He felt a slight strain on his mana veins, though it was hardly enough to cause any concern.

He continued until he found the source of trouble.

"There!"

Torvane came across a student enrollment that he was very familiar with. Not just because he had accepted her earlier. No...

He had a much deeper connection with this young, red-haired lady.

Julianor Redheart. The niece of his dead wife, Arissma Redheart.

Arissma had practically raised Julianor herself, allowing them to form a strong bond.

However, as the world knew, Arissma was killed by her husband, Torvane.

Many believed it was due to a political or religious disagreement. However, Torvane knew that he was neither religious nor much of a politician when it didn't concern the war between humans and elves.

The real reason for her death was that she had refused to teach her husband Advanced Swordsmanship, afraid of what such a man would become whilst having both magic and swordsmanship in his arsenal.

Torvane shuddered.

Just how evil did I make you?

He put Julianor's enrollment away for now, highlighting the first death that Torvane could experience.

At the hands of his wife's niece.

Yet still, there was another enrollment in the pile that radiated with a strong sense of death.

He flicked through the pages until he came across the name. The sense of death on this enrollment was even stronger.

Eysil Lightknot.

The Hellsfall Academy accepted only students of the human race. However, Eysil was an Elf.

With the ongoing war between the two races, she had undergone powerful alteration magic that had changed her entire appearance and even her genealogy itself.

Before Torvane's body had been taken over by Alvin, he accepted her student enrollment, not knowing that she had been tasked with a simple mission.

Infiltrate the Hellsfall Academy and kill the Master Torvane to stop the production of powerful magicians.

Torvane cursed to himself, slamming his fist into the desk with a thud.

"If only I had been transmigrated a few moments earlier, I could have prevented the infiltration..."

He ran the situation through his mind.

Eysil Lightknot was ranked at Low-Gold, putting her only two subtiers below Torvane himself. A big gap, but not comfortably big.

She was an elf prodigy, student of the Elf King himself.

This... is an opponent that I'll need to deal with as fast as possible. Otherwise, my death will arrive sooner than I expected.

He ran through all of the potential scenarios that Eysil could take to kill him. Luckily, none took place within the first week of his enrollment.

That meant that he still had time.

Torvane clenched his fist and rose to his feet. His resolve burned heavily in his heart.

I'll deny this fate, no matter what. And to do that... I might have to kill her.
