A boy returned to his hometown named Emberhold,"Oh! I arrived earlier than I expected" Kaen said.
"K-Kaen… y-you came back…" Master Thallos said, surprised. Master Thallos was surprised to see Kaen after five years, He thought Kaen will never came back, but now he is standing front of him.
"You're looking older than before" Kaen said in funny way. They arrived at townhall, and start their conversation again. "Where were you living all this time" asked Thallos "I was living in Lunarise" Kaen answered.
Master Thallos decided to hold a welcoming ceremony for Kaen. The news spread in whole Emberhold,Kaen happy to see efforts of people for him.
That night, as Kaen slept peacefully in his dorm, a faint light began to pulse from his void marks.Kaen jolted awake as his sleep was interrupted. "It's happening again," he muttered, eyes wide with unease.
Years ago, people shouted in unison, "He has a void mark—he doesn't deserve to live!""Kaen, you should leave this place. If you don't, the people of Emberhold will kill you," Master Thallos said.
Still in his dorm, Kaen stared blankly at the ceiling, lost in thought. Why are they greeting me now? Back then, their faces held nothing but hatred. He saw a shooting star and made a wish — to do something great, something that would make people truly love him.
Later that night, the town gathered under moonlight for the grand ceremony. Master Thallos stood at the center, proudly introducing Kaen to the people of Emberhold. Music played, laughter echoed, and for a moment, peace felt real — until the sky darkened unnaturally. A horde of shadow beasts erupted from the forest, crashing the celebration in a storm of chaos.
Kaen's eyes flared as the void marks on his arm shimmered. In an instant, flames burst forth from his hands, casting blazing arcs that lit up the night. Shadow beasts screeched and stumbled back from the inferno.
Before he could catch his breath, a gust of wind cut through the smoke. A girl with silver hair landed beside him, her arms glowing with wind sigils. "Need a hand?" she smirked.
A boy followed, leaping over a toppled table. With a focused breath, he raised a wall of swirling wind to shield the crowd. "You handle the front, we've got your back."
Kaen glanced at them, surprised — but grateful. With fire and wind crashing together, the three stood firm as the tide of darkness surged forward.
From the edge of the chaos, Master Thallos watched with wide eyes. The flames, the wind, the darkness — it was all too familiar.
"No... not again," he whispered, clutching his staff tightly. "This is exactly how it began five years ago."
His gaze locked on Kaen, whose fire danced wildly, uncontrolled but powerful. The girl and boy beside him fought fiercely, yet the air around them trembled with something deeper — something ancient.
"If the pattern repeats," Thallos muttered under his breath, "then the true threat hasn't even shown itself yet…"
Suddenly, a voice pierced the silence.
"You said his marks were erased!" someone shouted at Master Thallos from within the uneasy crowd.
"You told us he was no longer Void! That's the only reason we agreed to this ceremony!"
The accusation echoed through the square like a crack of thunder. Heads turned. Whispers swelled.
Kaen froze.
His mark… it was never gone?
They never truly accepted him—only a version of him they thought was safe.
His heart pounded louder than the murmurs around him. Thallos opened his mouth to speak, but Kaen had already turned.
Without a word, he ran—past the flickering torches, past the stunned villagers, past the celebration turned sour.
The sounds of celebration, of betrayal, faded behind him.
And for the second time in his life…
He ran from Emberhold.
