Landon's POV
I stared at the meals before me, then at the man who stood just a few steps away, urging me gently to eat. I avoided his gaze, unwilling to meet his eyes. I slumped like a disgrace, ashamed of how dirty and tattered I looked inside his tiny home—a place so neat and orderly despite its smallness.
I couldn't help but wonder how a man so young and strikingly handsome could live in such a humble space.
"Go on and eat, Ian. You can take your bath once you're done," he cooed softly, his voice carrying that same soothing calmness I had first heard in the woods when he saved me.
I still found it unbelievable. The way he shielded me beneath the thick fur of his wolf while the men chasing me ran past without so much as sensing my presence. It was nothing short of a miracle.
