Landon's POV
I was being led by four guards, my hands bound tightly in front of me.
Fenris wasn't with us. One of the men had followed him elsewhere and I was left to the mercy of the others who'd wasted no time in dragging me through a different direction.
They hadn't bound me in chains when Fenris was around. But the moment he was gone from sight, they had done it without hesitation, as though waiting for the chance.
I couldn't help but suspect who Fenris really was.
I still found his claim that he was Lord Varron's twin brother too far-fetched to believe. But the way the guards had bowed to him, immediately and without question, gnawed at me. If he wasn't who he said, then what exactly was he?
"Walk faster!" one of the guards barked, yanking at the chain binding my hands. His voice dragged me out of my storm of thoughts about Fenris. My attention shifted from him to the looming structure ahead.
