Elizabeth Hayes was a name that carried weight. At Ducksbane University, she wasn't just known, she was revered and feared. Back in the college where Adrian and I attended high school, her name had already been legend.

When Adrian agreed to the alliance that would bind him to her in marriage, I never understood his reasons. Perhaps he was simply following his father's orders. Perhaps he was trying to be noble by putting what he knew about her behind him. Or maybe he never truly knew who she was at all.
