Chapter 40 Writer's POV
As Laila leaned back in her chair, her eyes never left Onyi's face. "I think that's enough for today," she said, her voice dripping with an air of mystery. "But don't worry, Onyi, we'll be talking more soon. Very soon."
Onyi felt a shiver run down his spine as Laila stood up, her movements fluid and deliberate. She seemed to glide across the room, her long black hair flowing behind her like a dark river.
As she reached the door, Laila turned back to Onyi, her eyes glinting with a hint of amusement. "Remember, Onyi," she said, her voice low and husky. "The truth is always hidden in plain sight. You just need to know where to look."
With that, she was gone, leaving Onyi alone in the darkness of the room. He felt a sense of unease wash over him, as if he had just been toyed with by a predator.
Onyi's mind was racing with questions. What did Laila want from him? What was she looking for? And what did she mean by her cryptic comments?
As he sat in the darkness, Onyi couldn't shake off the feeling that he was in grave danger. Laila seemed to know more than she was letting on, and he had a feeling that she was playing a game with him.
The silence in the room was oppressive, and Onyi felt like he was suffocating under the weight of Laila's secrets. He knew he had to get out of there, to escape the darkness that seemed to be closing in around him.
But as he stood up to leave, Onyi caught a glimpse of himself in a mirror. And that's when he saw it - the crescent moon mark on his neck seemed to be pulsing with a faint, otherworldly glow.
Onyi's heart skipped a beat as he stared at the mark in horror. What did it mean? And why was Laila so interested in it?
As he turned to leave, Onyi knew that he had to find answers. He had to uncover the truth about his past, about the mark on his neck, and about Laila's true intentions. The darkness seemed to be closing in around him, but Onyi was scared to face it head-on.
