Chapter 58 Alexis POV
I, Alexis, watched from the shadows of the palace garden, a sinister smile creeping onto my face as I saw Duke Ryker and Onyi together. The duke, with his power and influence in the kingdom, and Onyi, the young and vulnerable one. It was almost like watching a game of intrigue unfold before my eyes.
As I watched, Duke Ryker touched Onyi's hand, his movements gentle but with an undercurrent of intensity. Onyi looked caught off guard, unsure how to react to the duke's advances. I could almost taste the tension between them, the sparks of connection they didn't try to hide.
I liked what I saw. Duke Ryker was a force to be reckoned with, and if he was interested in Onyi... well, that opened up possibilities. Possibilities that I could exploit. My smile grew wider as I thought of the angles, the plays I could make using the duke's interest in Onyi.
The palace guard appeared, calling Duke Ryker away to discuss tomorrow's plans for the temple of the black witches. As the duke left with the guard, Onyi was left alone in the garden. I watched Onyi for a moment longer, seeing the mix of emotions on his face – confusion, maybe a hint of excitement.
I stepped back further into the shadows, my mind racing with plans. The duke's interest in Onyi was a card I could play. And I would play it well.
