Chapter 87 Writer's POV
On the other side of the temple, far from where Aurora lies on the altar merging with Delilah's spirit, Onyi suddenly feels a searing pain. His crescent moon mark, begins to burn intensely. Onyi screams in agony as the mark seems to react to something beyond his understanding.
In his mind, a voice whispers, cold and compelling. "Merge with me."
Onyi's eyes widen in shock as he looks around, trying to understand who is speaking to him. But there's no one there. The voice is in his mind, echoing with a dark power.
As the voice repeats, "Merge with me," Onyi's eyes begin to turn pitch black. The darkness spreads through his irises like ink in water, leaving his eyes completely black as coal. Onyi screams again, feeling a strange, dark presence invading his thoughts.
The pain in his crescent moon mark subsides slightly as his eyes turn completely black. A sense of cold power courses through him, like shadows moving through his veins. Onyi stumbles, disoriented by the sudden change in his senses and the darkness now inhabiting his vision.
Amanda rushes to him, concern etched on her face. "Onyi! What's happening?"
Onyi looks at Amanda, but his pitch-black eyes seem to see right through her. His expression is altered, a hint of darkness in his gaze as he looks at her.
Amanda tries to reach out to Onyi, who's now standing with pitch-black eyes, a stark contrast to his normal warm gaze. "Onyi, what's going on?" she asks again, her voice filled with worry.
Onyi's expression is hard to read with his eyes turned completely black. He looks at Amanda, but it's like he's looking through her, not at her. His voice is low and slightly altered when he speaks. "I... feel darkness. It's in me."
Amanda's concern deepens. "What darkness? Onyi, talk to me."
Onyi takes a step forward, his movements slightly stiff. "The voice... it said to merge with it. My eyes... they're different now." He looks down at his hands as if feeling the change in himself.
The queen and king, who were watching the situation unfold, step closer. "Onyi, what's happened to you?" the queen asks, her voice filled with concern for her daughter's mate.
Onyi doesn't respond directly to them. Instead, he looks around the palace hall, his black eyes seeming to absorb the surroundings in a new, darker way. "I need... to understand this," he says, his voice hinting at a struggle within himself.
