Chapter 99 - Shocked

Chapter 99 Amanda's POV

I watch Onyi from a distance, feeling a mix of fear and sadness. Since his transformation, he's been different. His body glows faintly with an otherworldly power, and his eyes seem to see right through things. He's distant from me now, like he's in a world of his own. I try to reach out to him, to connect like we used to, but he's hard to get through to.

Onyi keeps staring at the war outside, at the battle between Delilah's forces and the kingdom's defenders. He looks at it all with interest, like he's studying something fascinating. I see the way his eyes linger on the flashes of magic, the movements of Delilah's followers in ancient hoodies. It's like he's drawn to the power, to the chaos unfolding.

His body, now transformed into that of a god, seems to radiate a quiet strength. I don't know what he's thinking or feeling anymore. Onyi's connection to me, to humanity, feels like it's fading. He's something more now, something beyond human understanding. The thought scares me – what will happen to him, to us, in this new state of his?

I want to ask him what's going through his mind, if he's still in there somewhere, but I hesitate. Onyi's transformation has made him... other. I don't know how to reach him like this.

Amanda tries to approach Onyi again, hoping to bridge the growing gap between them. "Onyi," she says softly, trying to get his attention away from the war outside. But Onyi doesn't seem to hear her. His gaze remains fixed on the battle, his godlike body unmoving like a statue watching the chaos. Amanda feels a pang of sadness and fear – is Onyi lost to her now?

As Delilah's forces push harder against the palace's weakened defenses, the sounds of battle grow louder. Onyi's interest in the war seems to intensify, like he's waiting for something to happen. Amanda wonders if he'll intervene in the battle, given his newfound power as a god. But Onyi doesn't move to act, just watches.

As the war reaches its peak, with magic clashing and the sounds of battle filling the air, Onyi leaves through the window. He walks in air toward Delilah, moving with a silent grace that belies the power radiating from his godlike form. Delilah is lost in the intensity of fighting against the king's remaining defenders, unable to see Onyi approaching.

Onyi's voice is barely audible as he says Delilah's name softly, "Delilah." The sound carries on the wind of battle, and Delilah, amidst the chaos, seems to hear something. She whispers back, "Xerxes." As soon as she does, the war stops abruptly. The clashing of magic ceases, and the followers in ancient hoodies bow down to the ground, their heads lowered in submission. The king's defenders pause, caught in the sudden stillness of the battlefield.

Onyi hovers in air near Delilah, watching. The connection between Onyi's voice saying "Delilah" and Delilah whispering "Xerxes" has brought an eerie calm over the battle scene. The air is heavy with anticipation, like the fate of the kingdom hangs in the balance of this strange pause.
