Chapter 1 - Ch-1

The mornings in Landour are late , just like they should be at a vacation town , the coffee and instant noodles shop opposite to us isn't even open yet and its 9 am .My cousin Aparajita , i call her Apu,she owns a bakery at the Landour market. Its a nice little cozy bakery with just four little cozy serving tables upon which i painted different scenaries of Mussoorie. I like seeing people watching my art on the tables amusingly while they wait for their carrot cake or baked sweet curd . Those two are our speciality , though i consider my aunt's carrot cake the best , my cousin is second best and i get a pout every time i say it. I'm an artist and though i don't live in Mussoorie i spend around six months on and off here.My aunt and cousin live here and run this bakery . I come here to get inspiration for landscape painting commissions but mostly end up working part time at the bakery and sorting books at the local library and passing my time eating snacks and reading comics at the library, since not much people visit libraries nowadays. The librarian Ms. Janet often says, "why don't you just rent a room here ,Aakira" and i answer with "I think i should Ms Janet ", everytime.

I came here a week ago , and was helping Apu with the bakery as usual. Nothing unusual happens or happened , in my many years of on and off living here. So when a police officer, in uniform walks into your little bakery the first thing in the morning you are bound to feel a wierd churn of anxiety in your stomach.
