Chapter 3 - Fear and Excitement

Ray was shocked!

Not just because what he saw in his 'dream' could be real, but also because something else entirely.

His innate skills didn't show a rank!

Ray lived his whole life surrounded by hunters, even though they were all low-ranked. His parents and even his Aunt were undoubtedly hunters. That's why he knew that (???) is not a normal rank for an innate skill.

"How do I activate this?"

Ray was now facing an unexpected problem. No matter what he did, the Innate skill {Inverted Tower of Manas} didn't seem to activate.

"Is this why it's a question mark, because it cannot be used?" Ray couldn't help but sigh.

"Atleast I've Awakened", Ray tried to cheer himself up. He knew it was pointless to think about things he could control. His Aunt always used to say, "We cannot control external circumstances, but we can choose how we respond to them."

With such thoughts in mind, he reached his home, a run-down brick house.

"Huh? "Something strange!" He noticed some movement inside his house. He carefully entered the house and immediately took a small hammer from behind his door.

"Who is it? Ah, Raymond! So you weren't dead? What a pleasant surprise". A young man a little taller than Ray spoke with a gentle smile, but the next moment another man punched Ray in the face, making him drop his hammer.

"Davi.what do you want?" Ray spoke with unbridled hatred.

The man in front of him was Davi Alonso, the son of the merchant Jonathan Alonso, who works for the Medusa Guild. Davi is 25 years old and is unable to awaken, just like his father, but the one who punched Ray was Mendos Gonzalez. He was an F-Rank hunter.

"I heard your death, and it hurt me so much when I thought that all your things were going to rot.so I came to protect them.they will be very safe in my place, don't you think?" David said with a gentle smile, but it turned malicious at the end, and he looked straight into Ray's eyes with his amber eyes

"Then get lost I am still alive"

Ray said as he thought of a way to fight back. Ray had just awoken. His stats are just basic. He may not be stronger than Davi. Despite being just a normal human. David is someone who knows how to fight, but even if he somehow beats David, there is still Mendos, a proper F-Rank hunter. There is no way for Ray to win, unless

"I have to find a way to activate my innate skill"

Ray thought to himself,

"Yes, that's a huge problem.but it's not without a solution," Davi said as he waved his hand at Mendos and a sadistic grin appeared on Mendos's face, and he began hitting Ray. Each hit felt like being hit by a car, his bones were broken, Mendos's fist was stained with Ray's blood.

Soon, Ray finds his vision blurring.

"Why? Why is this happening? Why is Davi here? For my things? That doesn't make any sense."

Ray thought to himself like he was struggling to stay conscious, but in the end he failed.

Ray was knocked out.

When Ray opened his eyes, he felt a familiar feeling.

"This feels just like a dream"

Ray looked around and found himself in a white room and on the floor was a huge crystal door that was shining in multiple colors and on it was the number 1 etched on to it.

When Ray touched the door, a status window opened.

Level 01

Main Quest: Defeat the Shadow Wolf

Reward: Shadow Wolf familiar

Sub-Quest: Hunt 10 Gale Rabbits

Reward: F-Rank Skill Box

Accept?

Ray was dumbfounded and confused, maybe a little bit scared as well, but he also felt uncontrollable excitement.

"This is Crazy. I don't know what this Shadow Wolf is, but F-Rank Skill Box? If that's what I think it is, then this changes everything."

Normally, Skills are obtained when one passes through the gate, raids the dungeon and slays the Boss Monster. It was not easy to raid an F-Rank dungeon. One needed at least a group of F-Rank hunters or an E-Rank hunter.

Ray knew that this was an opportunity that he couldn't miss, but he was scared! What if he isn't strong enough? In his entire life he doesn't remember winning any fights, not to mention killing a monster.

Ray took a deep breath and pressed 'yes' on the light green holographic window that was floating in front of him.
