"Sir! Stop what you're doing right now!
When Seraphina heard this, she started grinning and a rush of excitement started pumping through her veins.
It was not because she wished there would be trouble but because of a rule!
Since keeping adventurers in check would be difficult for guild personnel with no combat ability, the Guild had instaured a rule—one that said that if a troublemaker appeared inside the Adventurer's Hall, whoever dealt with it would receive some 'perks'.
Seraphina's golden eyes darted around, quickly scanning the area the cry had come from.
'Elyott the baldie...' her eyes stopped on a male adventurer with severe hair loss. Seraphina instantly recognized him thanks to her amazing memory, people called him Elyott the Shining, he was 32 years old and a Shining 2 star adventurer.
His so called 'Shining' title did not come from his talent or his intelligence but actually from his Radiant-stage scalp!
The man had first undergone Nature's tribulations at the young age of 22, truly ahead of the mass.
'2 Stars is not a problem...' Seraphina thought, readying herself to make it quick—otherwise her prey would be snatched by others. The gap between a 3 Star and a 4 Star was immense, so the difference between a 2 Star and a 4 Star could only be imagined.
Seraphina got up from her perch and leapt off at once. Then, she very 'softly landed' onto the Shining's shoulders with a quiet 'pouf' sound.
*CRAASSHHH!*
"AGHHK!" Elyott staggered and his body almost tripped over from the collision. The sword he carried at his waist slid off from its sheath and fell to the wooden floor with a metallic 'clank'.
"WHAT'RE YOU DOIN!? GET THE F*CK OFF ME!" He thrashed around wildly, trying to shake her off.
"Sorry Mister, but this is for my own good." Seraphina said, awkwardly positioning her legs around the man's neck.
Then, she tightened her hold around his neck like a vise, suffocating him in a leg-lock
"GRRH!" seeing he couldn't shake her off, Elyott bit her leg with all that he could muster—which was not very much coupled with the fact she was wearing a robe, but still.
"Ouch! Are you crazy!?" Seraphina cried out.
Although she was in a very advantageous position, Seraphina was very light and did not want to hurt him too badly, that had given Elyott an opportunity to do what he just did.
'What's with the bites today..... Could it be that I am tasty?' pondered Seraphina, as she tightened her hold once again while trying to get her leg out of that nasty and foul place.
Seeing his vision starting to blacken, Elyot—in desperation, hurled himself backward, slamming his own back—together with the little girl on his shoulders, on the nearest counter.
*CRACK!*
The wooden counter broke under them, and the crowd parted making some space for the two.
Seraphina and Elyott now laid amidst the wooden counter's debris, and after a few seconds the two had yet to make any movement.
'I'm never doing this again...' decided Seraphina, clearly annoyed.
It had not been worth the effort at all! They had caused a huge scene and ended up embarrassing themselves.
'Maybe I should have just waited...' she wondered, releasing her hold on Elyott's neck. When she handled him she would have asked for his place in line, looking back now, waiting would probably have been better.
"Sera! Are you okay?" asked a hazel-haired woman, concern laced into her voice.
'Am I okay...'
What kind of question was this!? Seraphina could even survive with all her bones crushed, of course she was okay! She even thought that if she could survive in that state then, even cutting her head off might not be enough to kill her—she had never put that theory to the test though.
Still, she got up from the rubble and answered the voice because it would be rude not to.
"CORY BIG SISSS! You know that I am fine, so why are you asking?"
"Well Sera, wouldn't it be rude not to?" replied Coralie, licking her lips
Seraphina pouted a little and didn't say anything more.
Coralie reached out to Seraphina, putting her hands behind Seraphina's back and thighs before lifting her in a cradle carry.
Coralie had short shoulder-length hazel hair and a matching pair of eyes to boot, her skin was fair and smooth unlike Seraphina's pale one. She was wearing a uniform composed of a black and white coat with a short black skirt and black tights.
"What brings my cute little baby sister here? If it's about that then, sorry I'm not returning." she whispered in Seraphina's ear
"No! I'm not here because I want you to quit your job and bring you back to the church." said Seraphina, feeling indignified.
Coralie was once part of the church and the two of them had been adopted by the same man. She had left because she did not truly believe in the church's teachings, and considered it to be betrayal towards Gabriel to stay.
As for Seraphina, whether she believed in Fosanthrophisme was not the right question. Father Gabriel had expected her to stay so she would stay. For her, the man who had raised her and her beloved and beautiful sister were more important than a nameless deity.
"I'm here because well, I finished a quest and uhhh..." Seraphina shyly said, looking away from Coralie .
"Right! Isn't it your birthday today? "
