"He's fleeing." Sukuna sensed the negative emotions around him, surprisingly hard to do when other people were fighting nearby, especially with the Root members being held back by the Uchiha.
"Where is he?" Izumi eagerly asked, anxious about him running away.
"Don't worry, he won't get away." Sukuna replied offhandedly, then started running outside.
Izumi, of course, gave chase.
And sure enough, Danzo was trying to run away. With all of his Sharingan lost, he couldn't keep fighting anymore. He had to get out of the base and hide in the village. Let Hiruzen know what the treacherous Uchiha clan had done.
Unfortunately for him, the moment he got out of the base, he ran into the reason why none of his Root shinobi were able to contact the Hokage. Sukuna's barrier was there.
"A barrier." Danzo's face darkened. While he had no idea what kind of barrier this was, one thing was certain—this was the reason why none of his Root shinobi had returned with reinforcements from Hiruzen.
It was also a barrier unlike anything he had ever seen before: a wall of dark, shimmering energy. It was chakra, of course, but there was something different about it. It felt… wrong.
He pressed his palm against it, feeling the strange force ripple under his touch. He stepped back, forming hand seals with only one hand, forcing out every jutsu he knew that could break through. Fire Release. Wind Release. Even his Vacuum Bullets.
Nothing.
The barrier didn't even flicker.
Danzo's teeth clenched. This was no ordinary sealing technique. Someone had put this here specifically to trap him.
'Can't be the Uchiha, they don't have this kind of jutsu...' Danzo couldn't believe it, so it had to be that masked person.
That's when he heard footsteps.
Danzo turned, chest heaving. Izumi Uchiha emerged from the shadows first, Mangekyo glowing like a curse in the dim light. Sukuna followed, his manner nonchalant as ever, but his presence carried the same oppressive weight Danzo had felt in the battle before.
Clearly, this masked boy couldn't be older than ten, so how come this brat was so strong? And that strange jutsu… Danzo couldn't wrap his head around it.
Danzo straightened his back despite his injuries, forcing himself to appear calm.
"You think you've cornered me," he said, voice steady but hoarse. "But attacking me… attacking an advisor of the Hokage… do you realise what you've done? This is treason of the highest order."
Izumi didn't even flinch. "Did you make Itachi do it?" She only cared about knowing the truth.
"Itachi... yes, it must be him. He must be behind this. Damn him. He was supposed to end every one of you accursed Uchiha, I even let him a way out, sparing his siblings." Danzo's voice turned even colder.
"So, it was you." Izumi's voice too was cold as ice.
"I did nothing, it was Itachi. All him. I only tell him what had to be done. You and your clan, the village would have never been safe. He did it on his own." Danzo chided.
"You didn't use Shisui's..." Just as Izumi was about to ask further, Sukuna on the side interfered.
"We don't have time for this, the village will sooner or later realise that something isn't right. Hurry up." He scolded Izumi with impatience.
Izumi glared at him. However, this time, strangely, Sukuna didn't budge; he kept looking at her with the same intensity.
She ultimately had to falter. What did it matter anyway? It's not like she could change the outcome.
However, she wished to know at least whether it was Itachi's own fault. If Itachi had indeed been controlled, then he was innocent.
"OH, good. Good. You should care," Danzo replied, hearing what Sukuna had said, his single eye narrowing. "When Hiruzen hears of this—"
Sukuna cut him off with a cold laugh. "If Hiruzen Sarutobi hears of this. He dies too. However, he won't. Cause you won't be there to tell him."
Danzo's gaze shifted to him, studying the stranger who had been carving through Root like it was nothing. "You… you're not from this village. You have no idea what you're involving yourself in. Konoha's stability is at stake. People like her," he nodded toward Izumi, "bring nothing but destruction."
Izumi took a step closer, her eyes narrowing. "The only destruction here is you, Danzo."
"Can't argue with that old man. You're like a plague. Konoha is better without you. Don't blame us, we're doing all this for Konoha." Sukuna shrugged.
Danzo almost spat blood at that line. 'Why it feel so familiar?'
The old man's lip curled into the faintest smirk, masking his growing panic. "You think killing me will change anything? You think the corruption ends here? No. All you'll do is give the Hokage reason to wipe out every last one of you. Your clan's blood will soak this village again."
Izumi's expression didn't falter, but her fingers tightened at her side.
Sukuna chuckled lowly, tilting his head. "For a man missing an arm and an eye, you sure talk big. However, one thing you are never able to understand about Uchiha, even after coveting their power for yourself. This clan just get stronger the more they lose. It was you who was digging your own grave from the start, you fool."
"I can still end this," Danzo said, his tone suddenly colder. "If I die, I'll make sure you come with me."
Sukuna's grin widened. "Now we're getting somewhere."
Danzo took a deep breath. His last trump card—the Reverse Four Symbols Sealing. He had planned to use it only if there was absolutely no other way, and this was it. Slowly, the ink began to spread across his skin, glowing faintly, crawling upward from his chest and down his remaining arm.
Sukuna's eyes narrowed. He recognised it immediately. "Tch… annoying old geezer." He muttered with irritation and moved toward Izumi to prevent her from evaporating in the upcoming matter-erasure attack Danzo was going to pull.
But before he could move, Izumi's Mangekyo flared with sudden, blinding intensity. The space between her and Danzo warped, and a swirling black void began to form—a gravitational pull so strong that even the air seemed to bend toward it.
Danzo's eye widened. "What—?"
The pull caught him instantly, dragging him forward. The ink of the sealing jutsu was still crawling over his body, but his form was already being ripped apart by the immense force. His breath caught in his throat as he tried to fight it, his fingers clawing at the ground.
He with all of his remaining chakra use a powerful wind attack towards the black hole like earlier he did.
However, to his horror, this time it didn't worked.
Sukuna's eyes widen, realising that Izumi had earlier feint her attack.
Izumi's voice was calm, almost quiet. "NO... no more chances. Just die. Once and for all."
Danzo's last words were lost as the black hole swallowed him completely, devouring him before his technique could finish. The area fell silent except for the fading sound of fighting still coming from inside the base.
Sukuna let out a low whistle. "Feisty, No wonder Itachi ran away."
Izumi's eyes shot at him with utter murder in them. The thought of feeding this annoying brat to her black hole was so desirable now. She could bet one of her Mangekyo on it.
Izumi closed her eyes, letting the Mangekyo fade. "Bring back Kiyomi."
Sukuna smirked. "What's the hurry. Lets finish this mess here first. Let spare the girl all the gore and more death people for once, I also have much looting to do in this base." Sukuna chirped as he folded his hands behind his head and, in a jolly attitude, strolled straight back to the base.
And there was a good reason he was happy: Danzo's death. What's there not to be happy about? If it were up to him, he would distribute leaflets throughout the Elemental Nations to bring people together to take part in this joyous occasion.
He'd sing the song of Shimura's demise to the children of the village with pom-poms in his hands. He'd write the story of this great victory in chalk on every wall within Konoha's boundary...
This was, without doubt, a good day.
"Sigh." Izumi just sighed, too tired and chakra-exhausted to comment on the eccentric boy's antics.
