Finally, it was time to check out what he had gotten from that old goat Danzo. He had waited to go through all the loot lying in his Kamui dimension and sealing scrolls because after Root's destruction and Danzo's death, there was enough chaos already.
And then, he kind of just forgot about it. Strange thing to say, but yeah. He could have gone through it in his free time, like during the recent lockdown, however, he just didn't.
'Now that I think about it, all that time I was lazing around during the lockdown, this was the first thing I should have done,' he deadpanned.
'Take any other protagonist reborn in the Naruto world and give him all the precious resources Danzo kept tight in his base, they would be jumping for joy. And here I was, almost forgetting to check on my own hard-fought loot.'
Not anymore.
So here he was in his Kamui dimension with pen and paper to note everything down. Sooner or later, he would have to move all these things out of here as well. There were times when this place was used to dodge attacks and trap enemies.
The last thing he wished was for his enemies to be locked in with all this treasure.
From that point onwards, Sukuna diligently started to note down everything he had gotten from Danzo's base.
And there were a lot of things—from precious chakra metal to substances he had no clue about.
From ordinary techniques to the extreme forbidden ones—hell, this old man even had a few forbidden techniques of other villages recorded in his catalogue.
Has to give it to Danzo, no matter how deranged he was, the man had taste.
'Not like most of it would be any use for me…' He sighed. Sometimes his inability to use normal jutsu stung harder than he could explain.
Sukuna even took instruments and research data from Danzo's base. He pretty much dug out every single thing he could move with his Kamui, teleporting it from the base to his personal dimension.
So yeah, pretty much everything.
"Damn, Kamui is such a cheat, man." His appreciation for this technique seemed to rise every time he found a new use for it.
It took him a long time to record everything he had looted from that old man. Most of the things he didn't even understand.
Old files, records from some long-forgotten secret missions, DNA samples, research data, machines, and equipment—half of which he didn't even know the purpose of.
He created two lists in this case.
List one… 'Useless to I don't know what this is.'
And list two, which he adeptly named, 'Good Stuff.'
This was the list he cared about the most. Again, this list contained the things most valuable to him or specifically useful to him.
Like Hashirama Cells, a few Sharingan Danzo had lying around, Uzumaki sealing techniques, chakra metal, properties under that old man's name, mission reports he found particularly interesting, a future source of blackmail material, and of course, cold hard cash.
There were a few things even Sukuna didn't expect Danzo to be holding, like sleeper agents and his personal spies in other villages, in the Fire Capital, and even in Konoha.
Who could have thought that Danzo had spies implanted even inside the Sarutobi clan?
Damn.
"And now this all is mine." A big smile appeared on his face.
Though, in all this, what was really useful to him, he himself wasn't sure.
He was hesitant to use Hashirama Cells, seeing how they contained strong Yang while his CE resembled Yin. If these opposing elements clashed, his body would be torn from the inside. Not to mention, he already had a working solution to prevent his Mangekyo from going blind, so injecting Hashirama Cells didn't appeal to him much.
Research data was interesting, but he was no scientist. He couldn't understand half of what those papers recorded. He didn't need more Sharingan, and he didn't see how the spies and sleeper agents would be of much use to him outside some specific conditions.
So, honestly speaking, while there was a lot of good things he had gotten from Root, ultimately what he had to work with was a rather small pile.
"Let's start with sealing," he muttered, seeing nothing else he could use right now.
Oh, don't underestimate his gains. There were a lot of things he could have used—like Eternal Darkness Genjutsu recorded in the Scroll of Sealing, which could make anyone blind, or Hiraishin, or barrier techniques, not to mention chakra metal.
But he found most of them had barriers to learning before he could actually use them. Let's say the Genjutsu in this case: yes, he could use it with his Sharingan, but the technique was described with normal hand signs, which he couldn't do.
Meaning, he first had to master basic Genjutsu techniques with his Sharingan before trying to replicate the Eternal Darkness Genjutsu created by Tobirama with his Sharingan.
Yeah, Tobirama would be rolling in his grave by then.
And just like this, he needed master-level skill in sealing techniques before attempting to use Hiraishin and barrier techniques—if doing so without using chakra and hand signs was possible in the first place.
'I mean, at least Kamui didn't need any hand signs, and CE works close enough to Yin chakra. There is a slim chance I can do it,' he muttered to himself.
As for why? Didn't he already have Kamui?
Well, yeah, but Kamui's offensive ability was rather low. Even with both eyes, he found actually landing his Kamui attack on an enemy at long distance was rather hard.
Flying Thunder God was far better in this regard.
But again, it was a question whose answer he would only get if he tested it out himself. If yes, then awesome. If no, then at least he tried.
Overall, he had his work cut out for him.
As for why he suddenly took out time today to check all this out, which he had been delaying for the better part of the week…
Because of Mangetsu.
Sigh.
The fight with that slimy mist shinobi was on his mind, pestering him ever since he came back from that bounty mission.
Up to this point, he had mostly won due to his meta knowledge about this world, his particular cheats, and of course, Kamui.
But there existed characters in this world who could bypass those advantages. He had no idea about Mangetsu. He just couldn't recall any intel about this ninja, even to this date, from the original manga. His slashes didn't work on him, and without Kamui, he honestly doubted he would have made it out of that situation unharmed.
That fight reminded him that no matter how many cheats and power-ups he had, in this world, there was no perfect jutsu. Everything had a counter.
Famous Itachi Uchiha words, to his dismay, but ones which were true.
If Mangetsu himself hadn't handed the Kiba Blades over to him, then he literally had no other way to beat him, at least not until he figured out Genjutsu.
This just showed that he still had a long way to go.
After going through most of the things he got from Root and expending the entirety of his weekend sorting out what he really needed and what he was about to either throw out, sell, or just hide away until he knew what the fuck those things were, he was finally wrapping things up.
Wrapping up until his eyes finally fell on a small tube. That was arguably the last thing before he walked out of his Kamui dimension, and this last thing fell into the category he wasn't sure how to categorise.
Was this tube anything valuable? Could it help him get stronger? He didn't know.
He squinted his eyes to see a small object floating inside the murky liquid. His sci-fi sense was tingling that whatever this thing was, it wasn't natural.
Just to test it out, he poured a bit of his cursed energy into the tube.
Twitched.
Just as he was so close to the glass, glaring at the little object inside to the point that his eyes were about to make physical contact with its slightly dusty cold surface, the object inside twitched—almost making Sukuna jolt back in surprise, and he almost dropped the tube.
'What the hell. This thing's alive?' His mouth went wide open in thought. He was expecting to find some unnatural substance, not a living thing in it.
"What the hell is this?" Even his Sharingan had a hard time figuring out what he was looking at. He noticed a faint, very faint chakra signature coming from whatever was inside. It was small, barely alive in fact, but it was there.
"Damn, there should be some sort of documentation for this thing, shouldn't there?" he complained, looking around for a user manual.
As expected, he found none.
So now it was on him to decide what to do with whatever was inside it.
'Man, the ninja world is cooked if something like Covid-19 came out of this on chakra steroids.' He was already getting goosebumps.
But now that he thought about it, didn't this remind him of those cursed womb paintings from JJK?
He paused.
Could it be?
"Brother, you in there?"
...
What do you guys think this thing is? Any guesses?
