Chapter 2 - Chapter 2 Codename: Shadow

Chapter 2

Whether it was the original Shadow Spider-Man or the Peter now attached to his body, passively receiving everything, both could hardly believe all of this.

So, Peter came to the Daily Bugle, wanting to confront Jonah and get to the bottom of things.

As a result, he saw "Jonah" shot dead in the office!

The moment he appeared in the office holding a gun was also "coincidentally" witnessed by the police who happened to be there!

After escaping the police pursuit, Peter went to the morgue at the police station and discovered doubts surrounding that corpse.

When he returned to his small room where he stored his materials, trying to find some clues from the materials left by Ben Urich, another Peter took over his body!

Peter opened his eyes, blinked, and found that the pain in his mind had completely disappeared.

The fusion of memory fragments left him momentarily unable to distinguish whether he was Peter as the Shadow Spider-Man or the Peter who had just started high school.

Or perhaps, both?

But this did confirm one thing: in this world—no, in some world—there existed someone just like him!

Someone who was also bitten by a spider, who also gained extraordinary abilities!

Only, compared to this Spider-Man codenamed Shadow, his life was much happier.

Although he, too, had never met his parents since childhood, he had an Aunt May who loved him dearly!

"Can I still go back?"

With that thought, Peter tried to communicate with the strange spider web in his mind.

Soon, he confirmed that he could indeed go back!

As long as he actively severed the glowing thread from the point of light, his consciousness would leave this world and return to his own world!

But with this realization, Peter was in no hurry to go back.

He wanted to see another world, another Spider-Man, and another adventure!

Peter turned his gaze to the few photos in front of him.

These were detailed profiles of the Green Goblin gang members:

[Sergei Kravinoff, also known as: Kraven the Hunter, Occupation: Animal Trainer, Nationality: Bear Country]

[Adrian Toomes, also known as: Vulture, Savage, Nationality: Unknown.]

[Dmitri Smerdyakov, also known as: Chameleon, Nationality: Bear Country, Kraven the Hunter's half-brother, possesses the ability to perfectly mimic the appearance of others!]

"The core members of the Green Goblin gang were all recruited from circuses and freak shows, so it's not surprising that they have some strange abilities." After merging with the Shadow Spider-Man's abilities, Peter found his logical reasoning skills had greatly improved.

"The dead Jonah was fake, so the real one must have been kidnapped by the Green Goblin!"

"Why did they kidnap Jonah?"

"Urich!"

"Because before he died, he wanted to expose the Green Goblin's crimes through Jonah, but the Green Goblin found out. There must be a mole from the Green Goblin in the Daily Bugle! Afterward, the Green Goblin sent someone to kidnap Jonah and had the Chameleon disguise as Jonah. But then, he was shot dead!"

"Who did it?"

"It should be Felicia Hardy!"

"She said she witnessed Thompson kill Urich, so she took advantage of the chaos to take the evidence Urich had collected. And since she and Urich were once lovers, it's only natural that she'd seek revenge for Urich."

"But there are too many coincidences in this world. The one who killed Urich was the Chameleon disguised as Thompson, and they didn't expect Felicia to act so decisively, so the Chameleon died."

"But this puts Felicia in danger, too, because since they kidnapped Jonah, who was contacted by Urich, they definitely won't let Felicia, who was even closer to him, go!"

"Wait, no, there's one more person who's also their target!"

"That's me, Peter Parker!"

"Because before Urich's incident, I was his best photography partner, and I had a conflict with the Green Goblin at Felicia's bar!"

"They'll definitely come to my house to find me... Oh no, Aunt May!"

Peter suddenly stood up.

Although this Aunt May wasn't his Aunt May, having merged with some of the Shadow Spider-Man's memory fragments, he still felt deep affection for her.

Thinking that Aunt May might be in danger because of him, he couldn't sit still.

---

The Parker House.

Knock, knock, knock.

Aunt May stood in front of the room and knocked on the door.

"Peter, are you home?"

After waiting a while with no response, Aunt May pushed the door open and walked in.

She had just heard some noise in the room and wanted to check.

Whoosh—

A gust of wind hit her face.

Aunt May noticed that the room's window wasn't closed.

She let out a sigh of relief, complaining slightly, "This kid, I've told him so many times, if he's going out, he should close the window properly, honestly."

Saying that, she walked toward the window.

After taking just a couple of steps, a massive shadow suddenly lunged from behind.

Aunt May sensed something and instinctively turned around. "Peter?"

"It's Toomes!" The shadow pinned Aunt May to the ground, laughing sinisterly.

Only then did Aunt May realize this was a complete stranger.

He was wearing a large black robe, his head was completely bald, and his mouth was full of sharp fangs, looking far from a normal human.

Even more terrifying were his eyes, ferocious and horrifying, as if he wasn't looking at a person but at food?

The Vulture sized up Aunt May's body, disdainfully saying, "Hiss hiss hiss—a bag of old bones. Your husband had more meat on him... and was much tastier, hiss hiss—"

Aunt May felt a chill, her eyes widening suddenly. She couldn't believe what this person was saying.

The meat on him... tastier?

What... did that mean?

A terrifying thought appeared in her mind.

Could it be that Ben wasn't torn apart by wild dogs, but was... by this person...

"Let him go, Toomes!" A figure in a black robe appeared in the doorway, breaking the atmosphere in the room.

The Vulture, one hand gripping Aunt May, turned his head. "Spi-spi-spider-Man, you can move, right? With that weird web? But how fast can you move, Spi-spi-spider-Man? Fast enough to stop me from tearing her throat apart?"

"No..." Peter had a moment of weakness; after all, he was just a teenager.

But at that moment, the part of him that was the Shadow Spider-Man took over.

Almost uncontrollably, he pulled a revolver from the pocket of his black trench coat and pointed it at the Vulture's head.

"I can!"

Bang!

With a resolute voice, a gunshot rang out.

The revolver automatically rotated once, its recoil negligible under Spider-Man's formidable physical strength. The bullet hit the Vulture's forehead with extreme precision, piercing straight into his head.

The powerful kinetic force instantly turned the Vulture's brain into mush, and he collapsed immediately!
