Chapter 68 - CHAPTER 68: THE HEART WAS NEVER HER'S..

---

Scene: Nari's Apartment – Midday

Rain drizzled against the glass windows. Pete stood in the doorway, soaked, hands in his pockets, heart full of storm.

> "I need answers, Nari," he said, voice low. "About Rose. About Rin. About you."

Nari, always calm, always collected—this time she looked tired.

She moved aside silently, letting Pete in.

No hugs. No warm tea. Just silence between siblings now split by secrets.

---

Scene: Living Room

Pete sat on the edge of the couch, eyes locked onto his sister.

Nari crossed her arms, pacing slowly, then finally spoke.

> "You want the truth, huh?"

"Yes," Pete replied. "No more games."

She nodded, then dropped the bombshell.

> "Rose... came to me once. Crying. On her knees."

"What?" Pete blinked.

> "She begged me to talk to Rin. To ask him to give their love a second chance. She didn't care about money. Revenge. Nothing. Just wanted Rin back."

Pete's lips parted.

> "But Rin turned her away?"

Nari's face twisted into something bitter.

> "No. Rin wanted her back. He still loved her. But he couldn't."

"Why not?"

"Because of his father."

---

Flashback: A Hidden Memory – Years Ago

Rose stood outside Nari's school, soaked in rain, eyes swollen from crying.

> "He said he loved me!"

"Then why did he leave?" Nari asked.

> "Because his father said I was trash. That our family was just bait to get closer to Pete's father."

Nari had never seen someone fall apart like that.

> "He chose his career. His family's name. He left me, Nari. He left me to die."

---

Back to Present

Pete clenched his fists.

> "So Rin's father… he was the one who destroyed her."

> "Yes," Nari confirmed. "Rose was just a girl who loved someone too much. And she lost everything."

She looked up at her brother with weary eyes.

> "Don't you see now, Pete? Rose became a villain not because of hate... but because everyone she ever loved either betrayed her or stayed silent."

---

Scene: Outside – Pete Walking Alone

The rain poured heavier now. Pete didn't care.

Rin's father. His own father.

And even Nari…

They all stood by while a kind girl became a broken weapon.

He looked up at the stormy sky.

> "Mek… what have we gotten ourselves into?"
