[LUCAS – POV]
It started at Friday night's house party.
The music was loud, the lights dim, and the air thick with gossip, perfume, and bad decisions. I wasn't supposed to be there for long, just enough to show my face.
Then I saw her.
Jasmine.
In ripped jeans and a cropped black hoodie, she looked like trouble dipped in confidence. She didn't notice me at first—until our eyes met across the crowd.
"Lucas! Spin the bottle!" someone yelled, dragging me into the circle.
Jasmine got pulled in, too. She sat right across from me, arms crossed, clearly not in the mood for games. That just made it better.
The bottle spun.
It landed on her.
"Truth or dare?" Ryan grinned.
She smirked. "Dare."
Ryan looked around, then locked eyes with me. "I dare you... to kiss Lucas."
A ripple of gasps and giggles.
Jasmine turned to me slowly, then leaned forward, her voice low and teasing: "You sure you can handle this?"
I didn't flinch. "Try me."
And just like that—her lips brushed mine.
Soft. Quick. But electric.
Everyone whooped, but I barely heard it. She sat back like nothing happened, like she hadn't just short-circuited my brain.
She looked at me with that smirk again.
Game on.
[JASMINE – POV]
I didn't mean to kiss him like that.
Okay, maybe I did. But only because I wanted to see if Lucas was all talk.
He wasn't.
His lips were warm. Gentle. Confident. He didn't try to show off or turn it into something dirty. It was short... but intimate in a way that scared me a little.
After the game, I slipped out to get air.
Of course, he followed me.
"Want to talk about that?" he asked, hands in his pockets.
"No," I said, walking ahead.
He caught up. "So that meant nothing?"
I stopped. Looked at him. "I didn't say that."
We stood there under the porch light, the noise of the party behind us, the tension thick between us.
"I don't want to play games, Lucas," I whispered.
"Good," he said, moving closer. "Because I'm not playing either."
