The four boys surrounded Ranmo, boxing him in. Beside him, Ayame clutched his fingers tightly, her voice trembling:
"Ranmo…"
"It's alright. Don't be afraid."
Ranmo gently pulled her behind him.
Hayate Gekkō stood in front of him, face twisted with aggression. Last time, Ranmo had humiliated him in front of everyone. Today, he was determined to take that pride back.
"You damn blind brat, we're not done yet. You know Yugao's my girlfriend, and you had the nerve to let her kiss you? You must have a death wish!"
Hayate's tone was sharp and malicious, belying his usual sickly appearance.
"Because you're blind, I let it slide last time. But today? Get on your knees and beg, or you'll pay dearly."
Ranmo slowly opened his eyes. His deep blue irises looked ahead blankly, unfocused, as if his gaze passed right through them.
"What if I don't?" he asked calmly.
"Then we'll beat the crap out of you!" one of the boys barked.
And with that, the other three surged forward, ready to throw punches and kicks.
Among them, only Hyuga Hikaru was the same age as Ranmo. The others were older—and two of them had already graduated from the Academy and completed missions as genin.
"Stop! Don't fight—please stop!"
Ayame's panicked cry rang out, and then—
"Waaah!"
She burst into tears and ran off down the street.
The four boys ofcourse dont give a damn. They launched their attack—
But in the next instant, the alley echoed with pained screams.
"Aaargh!"
"Ugh—!"
"What the hell—?!"
None of them had even seen what happened.
Before they could react, Ranmo had already knocked them flying.
They lay sprawled on the ground, bruised and battered. They had no idea what had just hit them.
Hayate came from a family of swordsmen—his clan's kenjutsu was well-known. Even with his weak constitution, he still had more combat experience and physical skill than most kids his age.
When Ranmo kicked him last night, Hayate had assumed it was a fluke.
But now, he understood:
It was no accident.
Ranmo's taijutsu was shockingly advanced—and his speed made it impossible to track his movements.
The four boys groaned on the ground, their faces swollen and bloody.
Ranmo stood there calmly in the alley, his eyes once again closed. He looked so serene, it was hard to believe he had just taken them all down.
Just then—
"Uncle! It was them! They were trying to hurt Ranmo-nii!"
Ayame returned—this time with members of the Konoha Military Police Force in tow.
Ranmo's brow furrowed slightly when he heard their voices.
He had just been about to fake a fall and pretend to be a victim, hoping to guilt the others as well. But now someone grabbed his arms.
"All individuals involved in this disturbance—detain them all," an Uchiha clan officer announced.
The boys immediately burst into terrified wails.
"No! Don't take me! I want my mom—please don't arrest me!"
And then—
Itachi appeared.
He had witnessed the whole fight, but deliberately hadn't intervened. He'd wanted to see how things played out—who would win and who would lose.
"Uncles," Itachi said softly, "it's just kids fighting. Let it go this time?"
"Yeah, yeah—we were just messing around!" Ranmo quickly chimed in with a smile.
If they were taken in, the others would have family to bail them out.
But him?
He'd probably have to spend the night in a cell.
And really, it wasn't even that big of a deal. Why were the Uchiha Police taking this so seriously?
"Right, Hyuga Hikaru, Hayate Gekkō—we were just playing around, weren't we?"
Ranmo turned to the four bruised boys and gave them a look.
