Chapter 975 - 2

Kiyotaka Pov

I stepped into the gymnasium and waved Rekaku off as she walked to the end of the gym. There were four sections which were separated by small barriers. At the end of each of them, closest to the entrance, were signs.

Class A

Class B

Class C

Class D

Seeing as I was in Class D, I entered that section and began to observe some of my classmates.

My class section was filled with students who seemed to be rowdy and unable to behave properly.

In front of me were two boys who were talking about how big a girl's "melons" are. Melons? Watermelons? Why would anybody bring a watermelon to a school?

The boy from before on the bus was also there, and when he saw I stepped into the group, he smirked.

Nanase, the pink haired girl, and many others were also in the group.

In another section, they suffered from a similar situation of having several misbehaving students but of a lesser scale.

The most noteworthy figure was a boy with blue hair who was tall and wore a cold look on his face.

The next section had somebody familiar.

Yagami Takuya.

Already he seemed to acclimate to the social setting and was talking to a group of boys and girls around him with a smile plastered onto his face.

His group was mostly behaved with a few standouts.

Finally, the group that had Rekaku in it, or commonly known as Class A.

In that group was another person I knew:

Amasawa Ichika.

She was standing on her own, but she occasionally sent me glances filled with...interest?

Ichika was a talkative girl in the White Room. Often times she would sit next to me or Takuya or another child and drone on about something random or downright disturbing.

Here, she was quiet, just observing.

Her group seemed like the most behaved, with only one standout student being a girl who was chewing exaggeratedly to the point where I could tell that she was chewing bubble gum.

A figure took to the stage, and the entrance ceremony began...

Well this is boring.

A lot of "Thank You" and "Good Job" were exchanged between all 160 of us and the Principal.

It was mainly just listening to a man talk about excellence and tradition while we randomly thanked him for wasting our time.

Eventually, he stopped speaking, and next to the stage was somebody I recognized.

"Good morning, First Year students. I am Acting Director Tsukishiro. Whilst I may not be with you all for even a full year's time, I am excited to bring in the new crowd of students for this excellent school. In years past, we have hidden a secret from the students until May 1st."

He waited a second, scanning through the crowd of faces t survey the reactions before speaking again, "This secret is the S-System. You are aware of the fact that you will be living and providing for yourself in the three years you spend here, so you may be asking yourself: How? Simply, the school will gives you an allowance of 80,000 yen on the first of this month. Normally, the allowance is 100,000 yen-"

Instantly, many students cried out.

"Unfair!"

"This is discrimination!"

"Down with the corruption!"

"I just shit myself!"

"What's this bullshit for?!"

Most of these cries came from my and the second section I reviewed an hour prior.

Tsukishiro laughed and continued, "Now, now. You have something that they don't, and that is preparation. See, some of you may have picked up on the specific wording I used, and that is the fact that you only gain 80,000 yen at the start of this month. That is because your behavior and performance changes that amount. Let me explain. There are two types of currency at this school: Private Points and Class Points. One private point is equivalent to one yen, and that is what you will receive every month. The private points are derived from Class Points. Each class, Class A through D, will start the year with 800 Class points."

Tsukishiro flicked a button a controller, and a projector started up, showing a screen.

Class A-800

Class B-800

Class C-800

Class D-800

"Each Class point is equivalent to 100 private points. Gaining more Class Points means more private points. Alongside that is a promotion to the next class up. You see, we measure you by worth at this school. Allow me to use a demonstration."

He fiddled with the remote and another screen was pulled up.

Class A-Politicians

Class B-Doctors/Lawyers

Class C-Salary Workers/Contractors

Class D-Defects

"As you can see here, Class A has the most glamorous job. That is because Class A is the best of the best in this school. Anybody who graduates from Class 3-A will earn the Class A certificate, a letter from the school that will give you an automatic acceptance into any college or place of work in Japan," said Tsukishiro.

Everybody gasped, and the kids in my section cried out.

Defects huh? How interesting.

"Throughout your time here you will fight against the other classes to earn class points and to avoid expulsion. At the end, the class with the most Class Points will be Class A. For example, here you can see how classes might change over time. This was recorded from last year's students."

Class A-Class A

Class B-Class B

Class C-Class D-Class C

Class D-Class C-Class D

"As you can see, Class D and C swapped places multiple times. The reason for this is that the class points of each class eventually exceeded that of the other class, resulting in them reading positions. Simple, correct?"

Everybody nodded.

"Good! Now, more will be explained later, but for now, a few words from our Student Council President, Nagumo Miyabi!"

A few students cheered. Most however were dealing with the gravity of the situation now.

"A competition?" murmured a boy beside me.

"This is insane," hissed a girl with a tan in front of me.

The boy on the stage had blonde hair and blue eyes. His eyes scanned the crowd as if he was waiting for the whispering to end.

Somebody from Class A shouted, "Forgot your cards?"

"No need to be afraid!" yelled another boy.

Silence.

Everybody stopped and stared at the boy, and that's what he seemed to be looking for.

"Good morning First Years! I am your Student Council President, Nagumo Miyabi! I know you all are shell shocked due to the news presented by our Chairman, so I will keep this brief. I look forward to seeing you all flourish under a new system imposed by me. That is all!"

Everybody have a half-hearted cheer to satisfy Nagumo-Senpai, and he strode off of the stage happily.

We were now in a classroom named Class 1-D. There were 40 of us, with different character designs to be explored when Author isn't about to pass out.

All the first years were directed to their classrooms for a homeroom, but our teacher didn't seem to be here yet.

Beside me was Nanase, in front of me was the boy from the bus, and around us were different people.

I was sat by the window, providing the perfect view.

A class competition, hm?

If were considered defects, what could that mean?

It's clear most of us can't behave, but what does that mean in a competitive scene?

Are we defective because of grades? Sports? Flaws?

That could explain it if I knew these people.

That's it!

"Everybody, could I have your attention?" I asked, clapping my hands together as I stood up.

Everybody turned around, and now I could see how nervous they looked right now.

"I understand you're all nervous, but since we'll all be working together we should get to know one another."

"Yeah no," said a voice from the far side of the classroom.

The voice belonged to a purple haired boy with fiery red eyes. Red eyes? Purple hair? Strange look thats for sure.

"Pussy, sit down," growled the boy from the bus, "This guy is annoying but he has a good idea. Introduce yourselves and a useful skill of yours."

"Shut up ape! Piss off!" yelled the purple haired boy.

He seemed to be well-built and athletic, but very jumpy.

"Hey, so do you practice a sport or something?" I asked suddenly.

"Me? Yeah, I play basketball."

"I can tell, you seem to be well built," I replied.

He seemed surprised at the compliment and his face lit up, "You can see it too! I'm ripped as fuck!"

"I can tell! What's your name?"

"Fine, fine I'll tell ya. Names Arataka Ryu, don't forget it! In three years you'll realize you were in class with the best Basketball player of Japan!" screamed Arataka with a blazing passion.

"Wow I'm sure," said a voice, clearly annoyed.

Skipping over that, I began, "My name is Ayanokouji Kiyotaka! I want to join the Student Council and help this class and everybody here in any way! I'm confident in my academics and physical ability!"

I finished my introduction with a big toothy smile.

This resulted in the majority of the girl's faces erupting into pink and red, with some even squeaking and squealing.

Seriously, what is wrong with the cold recently?

Wait, Rekaku said I shouldn't act this way is it possible that...oh.

Yeah it makes sense.

I suppose I look good?

"Me next," said the delinquent as he stood up, "Name is Hosen Kazuomi, and I'll be the leader from here to the end. I'm the best at everything here. Anybody who goes against me will get beaten up. Got it?"

"What the fuck?!"

"Eww, freak!"

"Hosen, don't say such things," I said quickly to calm everybody.

"You too Sparkles, you're my bitch now."

"You're out of line," hissed Nanase.

"All of you better shut the fuck up!" roared Hosen, causing everybody to be quiet.

Silence overtook the room, and Hosen sneered at the boy sitting in front of him, "You. Now."

"U-uhm, yeah! M-my name is-"

"Faster pussy!"

"Get off his back, Hosen," I said with a glare.

He laughed, "Keep talking and you'll be stuffed in a locker with a lit match."

"I-it's o-OK Ayanokouji-Kun," said the boy. His hair was dark black and had long bangs that covered his eyes.

How could he even see like that?

"I-I'm Miyamoto Ren. I'm g-good at arts and c-crafts," stammered Miyamoto.

"Arts and crafts? What is this, Pre-K?" asked a girl with long blonde hair with a blue streak in it.

"He likes what he likes," I said.

"Right right."

To speed things up:

The pink haired girl stood up, putting away her game console, "My name is Mimi Izumi. I'm good at Video Games, which means my reflexes are great."

She had brown eyes and pale skin. Perhaps she was a shut-in?

"What kinda bullshit is that?" questioned Hosen.

A boy at the far end of the room spoke up, "Actually, video games increase reflexes because of the stress of reacting to many in-game-"

"Shut up nerd."

"OK."

A blue haired boy stood up, and I could feel his black eyes staring at me, "I am Yasuhiro Shinso. I'm the best at basically anything I do. Any girls can come to my room, I'm taking applications for a girlfriend now."

"I saw you trip up the stairs," said Mimi absently as she quickly slammed her fingertips into the d-pad on her console.

At that, the class erupted into laughter, and Yasuhiro facepalmed.

"Ooh, so cute!" laughed a girl.

Next was the blonde haired girl with the. Lie streak in it. She has scrunchies, earrings, and eyeshadow on, a gyaru by the looks of it.

"Nakajima Taeko here. I'm good at taking selfies."

"That's it?" asked Hosen, the vein in his head throbbing.

"Kinda," shrugged Nakajima, "Most of my talents aren't for beefing, they're for vibing."

Next was a boy with short brown hair styled into a middle part. His eyes were like almonds.

"Heyo, names Tendo Riku! I'm good at camping and skiing and stuff! Nice to meet you all!"

"Camping and skiing huh? Pretty useless shit," spat Hosen.

"Not at all," replied Tendo, "That stuff taught me a lot of things about being a man."

Next was Nanase.

"Hello everyone! My name is Nanase Tsubasa! I pride myself on my physical abilities and academic prowess and I look forward to working with you all!"

"Finally a normal person."

Suddenly, the door slid open and in stepped a man I recognized.

"Hello Class D. I am Shiba-Sensei. Take your seats or you're expelled."
