Chapter 20 - Chapter 20 – The Midnight Kiss

The fragments of memories resurfacing tormented Élisa. The bloody hand, Clara's laugh then her scream… These images had grown more intense, painful flashes that left her gasping, her heart aching. Adrien was the cause of this unlocking, and their carnal bond, though troubling, seemed to be the key to assembling the puzzle. She sought him, not just for the truth, but for that connection she could no longer deny.

That evening, a strange impulse led her to the university long after nightfall. The building was deserted, bathed in a lunar glow. She climbed the stairs to the rooftop, the Casablanca wind rushing across the terrace. He was there. As always. Adrien stood near the edge, his gaze lost in the twinkling city lights. The air was cold, but warmth emanated from him.

He turned as he sensed her. Their eyes met, and this time, there was no game, no mystery, just a raw recognition. He approached her slowly, each step echoing in the night's silence. He said no word, but the tension between them was palpable, a burning desire that had surpassed fear and forbidden.

At midnight, under Casablanca's starry sky, they truly kissed. It wasn't a fleeting brush, not an almost-kiss. It was long, deep, and infinitely dangerous. His lips crushed against hers with a hunger she responded to without hesitation. Adrien held her tightly, with excessive force, as if she were fragile, ephemeral, as if she could disappear at any moment. Her hands clutched his back, pulling him even closer, their bodies merging into one. The kiss was a promise, a solace, a devouring.

And deep in her ear, his raw voice, vibrating with an emotion she had never heard from him, he whispered: "I lost you once. I won't make the same mistake again."

The kiss resumed with renewed intensity, imbued with those words. It tasted of urgency, of fate. For Élisa, it tasted of an absolute vow, the promise of an indissoluble connection. But in the same breath, a cold thought crossed her mind: these words could also taste of a farewell, a last embrace before a truth that would separate them forever.
