Gunfire. Screams. Footsteps. The hospital trembles under the fury of the Rebels.
Nurse (panicked):— They're here! They've breached the main gate!
Hidden patient (whispering in the dark):— Lord... Protect us... Please...
Meanwhile, in a secluded room...
Isabelle (groaning in pain):— Archéolodon… I… I can't… He's coming… I feel him coming…
Archéolodon (holding her hand):— Breathe, Isabelle… I'm here, I'm here… You can do this, my love.
Tailer (terrified):— Why now? Why here?!
Gunshots ring out in the hallway. Screams. Then… silence. The Rebel leader, his face marked by a cruel smile, walks among the corpses.
Rebel Leader (softly laughing):— What a symphony of fear... I could dance to this melody.
He steps on a still-warm body, lights flames on blood-soaked sheets, then walks toward the elevator. But…
Rebel Leader (annoyed):— Hmpf… No power? What a shame… We'll climb the old-fashioned way.
He slowly climbs the stairs, floor after floor. Prayers rise from the hidden corners...
Hidden patient (weeping):— God... if You're out there... please do something… I beg You…
Another voice, desperate:— There is no God here... only death...
The leader bursts into a room. A flash of metal. Screams. Then silence.
Upstairs, Isabelle cries out in agony. A baby is born. The moment is sacred. Then…
Newborn baby:— WAAAAAAAAHHH!
The cry echoes through the hallway. The Rebel Leader stops. He smiles. Turns and walks slowly toward Room 214.
Rebel Leader (to himself):— Life… how ironic. Just as I take it, it decides to be born.
He opens the door, shoots the midwife without a word. Archéolodon throws himself at him.
Archéolodon (screaming):— DON'T TOUCH MY FAMILY!!
They fight. Tailer, terrified, grabs the newborn.
Isabelle (weakly):— Save him, Tailer… Save my son…
Without thinking, Tailer jumps through the fourth-floor window. The impact is brutal. He lands on branches, then crashes to the ground. Blood. He winces.
Tailer (gasping):— Hang in there… little one… We have to survive…
He walks, limping, through the forest. Two gunshots ring out behind him. He stops. His eyes fill with tears.
Tailer (whispers):— Mom… Dad…
He collapses. The Rebels are closing in.
On a deserted road…
Amara (in the car):— Isaac, don't even think about it! We're in the middle of a war! You want us killed?
Isaac (eyes fixed on the woods):
— There's a child, Amara. I have to go.
Amara (nervous):
— Isaac! If you're not back in five minutes, I'm driving off without you, you hear me?!
Isaac climbs the hill, finds Tailer unconscious with a baby in his arms.
Isaac (shocked):
— My God… What is this…
Tailer (barely opening his eyes):
— Help us… please…
Isaac lifts the baby and picks up Tailer. He runs back to the car.
Amara (horrified):
— You're bringing them with us?!
Isaac (firm):
— I'm not letting them die.
At that very moment, the Rebels reach the clearing. One of them readies a rocket launcher.
Rebel:
— Got them! One shot and it's done!
Rebel Leader's Lieutenant (putting a hand on his shoulder):
— No. Leave them. He's just a child.
The Rebel Leader arrives, silently. He watches the car disappear into the dust.
Rebel Leader (calmly):
— Every survivor is a memory.
And memories become threats. We'll find him.
Later, in a village hidden in the mountains…
Isaac (opening an old wooden door):— This is it. My childhood home… or what's left of it.
Amara (treating Tailer):— This boy's burning up… He's lost a lot of blood.
Jason (shyly handing a bowl):— Here… Drink some water…
Tailer (head down):— They killed my parents…
Isaac (gravely):— I know, boy. I know… You don't have to run
anymore. Here, you're safe. At least… for now.
That night, while the house is quiet…
Jason (whispers, sitting next to Tailer):— I lost people too. But my dad says… we can rebuild… even among the ruins.
Tailer (whispers back):— Thank you… Jason…
They look at each other. A fragile light in the darkness.
In the shadow of the mountains, near a campfire, the Rebel Leader speaks again:
Rebel Leader (to his men):— That boy… I want to know where he is. And this time… no mercy.
to be contuned....
