Chapter 2 - Landing In The World of One Piece

"Excellent choice! The world of One Piece it is!" The God clapped their hands together, their form shifting between what looked like a muscular pirate captain and a small child with a straw hat.

"And since I am your patron God, I'll give you another gift. You can choose the power of your choice before you go."

Fenrir's heart raced. This was it, his chance to become truly overpowered in the world he'd dreamed about for years. He knew he wouldn't survive without any, he was a normal otaku after all.

"Saiyan powers," he said without hesitation. "Make me a Saiyan."

The God looked at his serious expression before letting out an amused laugh.

"Oh, you sweet summer child. Do you have any idea what would happen if I dropped a Saiyan into the world of One Piece? You will be throwing around planet-busting attacks in a few weeks. You will be able to walk sideways in front of Imu with that."

"That's the whole point, though?" Fenrir said as he saw his dreams of grandeur crumbling down.

"Sorry, kiddo, but no can do. I've got to maintain the balance. How about this, " The God's form changed again into what looked like a wise old sage with a mischievous grin.

"I'll give you the discounted version of the Saiyan package. Handmade by yours truly. It's truly one of a kind, ya know."

"A Devil Fruit?" Hearing his words, Fenrir wasn't sure if he should be excited or disappointed. The way God talked didn't inspire much confidence in him, to be honest.

The God wiggled their fingers dramatically. "What a bad child, having such blasphemous thoughts about me. I was going to give you an explanation about your Devil Fruit and send you to Luffy's ship, but I changed my mind now. Off you go now, Wano awaits you~"

"Wait, I'm going to Wano? No!! I-" But before Fenrir could finish his words, the God snapped their fingers.

The white void exploded into a kaleidoscope of colours and sensations. Fenrir felt like he was being put through a blender, his consciousness stretching and compressing until~

THUD.

He hit something solid and wooden with enough force to knock the wind out of his lungs.

The smell of salt water and disgusting sweat assaulted his nostrils as rough voices shouted orders above the creaking of timber and rope.

"Oi! You alive down there, newbie?"

Fenrir groaned and opened his eyes to find himself sprawled on the deck of what was unmistakably a pirate ship with its Jolly Roger flying high with the wind.

Towering above him stood a mountain of a man covered in scars and tattoos, wearing the distinctive horned skull mask of the Beast Pirates.

'Oh shit. I'm actually here.'

"I said, are you alive?" The pirate's voice carried a kind of casual menace as he kicked him on his arse to wake him up.

"Y-yeah, I'm alive," Fenrir stammered, struggling to his feet. He was wearing rough brown pants and a sleeveless vest, a typical grunt's attire.

He looked down only to find his body felt different somehow. It was taller and far more solid. He reckoned that he was at least 2.5 m (8.2 ft) tall now, but somehow the man towering above him was even taller.

"Good. Name's Babanuki. You're the new recruit they fished out of the ocean, right?" The massive man looked him up and down with obvious disdain.

"Scrawny little thing, aren't you? Hope you're tougher than you look, because life in the Beast Pirates isn't all glitters and shine. If you don't pull your weight."

The man paused for a dramatic effect before continuing, "We will feed you to the Onis. We have a lot of them."

"I'm Fenrir," he managed to say, his mind still reeling from the transition.

'Play it cool, Fenrir, play it cool. You're just another grunt who joined up with the Beast Pirates. There are more than 30,000 of you in the army.'

"Fenrir? What kind of stupid name is that?" Babanuki snorted. "Well, whatever. You can call me Officer Babanuki, and you'll do whatever I tell you without question if you want to survive."

"Your first job: grab that mop over there and start cleaning the deck. This ship doesn't clean itself, ya know." After saying that, the man disappeared.

Fenrir slowly walked over before taking the dirty mop with shaking hands. He couldn't help but marvel at the absurdity of his situation.

Here he was, a guy who'd died from too much excitement, next he mopping the deck of a Beast Pirates ship.

'Well, ' he thought as he began the task of scrubbing wooden planks of the biggest ship he had ever seen, 'I need to know what year this is. Otherwise, I won't be able to plan ahead.'

Around him, the Beast Pirates went about their daily routines, sharpening weapons, arguing over card games, and occasionally throwing someone overboard for entertainment.

The ship was slowly heading toward a massive landmass that Fenrir figured out could only be the Wano Country, with its towering waterfalls and mountain peaks exactly as he remembered from the anime.

"Hey, newbie!" Another pirate, this one with a mohawk and gold teeth, called out. "When you're done with that, there's a pile of cannonballs that need organising. Then you get to scrub the latrines. Finish all this before sunset if you want to eat. Welcome to the Beast Pirates! Wahahahahaha!!"

The other pirates also laughed at his expense, and Fenrir could only smile and nod. Inside, however, he was already planning how to take revenge on all these people when he grew stronger. He was a petty person like that, always taking revenge for the smallest things.

''Just you wait, ' he thought, wringing out the mop with perhaps more force than necessary. 'I may be starting at the bottom, but you all will be kissing my butt soon enough. Give me time, and I'll show you what a real beast looks like.'

But first, he had a deck to mop and had a very steep climb ahead of him.

As Wano's shores grew larger on the horizon, Fenrir began what would become the most ridiculous and dangerous adventure of his life. Armed with the knowledge of Haki and all the major character personalities and secrets, he was determined to make the best of it.

The real question was: would he become the hero he'd always dreamed of being, or would he live long enough to become the villain himself?

Only time would tell.
