Chapter 21 - 21: She is not a child of the Rong family?

The morning light sprinkled on the bedside through the gaps in the heavy curtains. Rong Yin's eyelashes trembled slightly. Before she was fully awake, her phone lit up.

She picked it up subconsciously. It was an anonymous email.

The title had only four words: "Who are you."

Clicking on the attachment, a baby birth file suddenly came into view-

Name: Rong Yin (suspected to have been swapped)

Birth hospital, time, parents' signatures... clearly marked with the name of another family, and finally a note:

"If you are not a child of the Rong family, then where should you start the case you are investigating?"

Her fingers trembled and the phone almost fell.

The paper was like a knife, fiercely cutting open her long-standing cognition.

Who is she?

She tried her best to clear her mother's name and protect the Rong family, but it is very likely that... it was not her home from the beginning?

Then what is she fighting for?

And for whom?

**

Chi Yuchuan pushed the door open with a freshly brewed cup of black coffee in his hand. Seeing her pale face, he immediately became alert.

"What's wrong?"

Rong Yin slowly raised her head and said in a low voice: "I may not be a child of the Rong family."

Chi Yuchuan was slightly startled, then put down the coffee and walked closer to her: "Who sent the email?"

"Lin Zhiyuan." She closed her eyes and whispered, "He said that if I am not a child of the Rong family, then... my mother's imprisonment would have no meaning to investigate."

"He said it lightly." Chi Yuchuan looked cold, "But he will never understand that what you want is not the two words 'surname Rong', but your mother's innocence and justice."

"Blood relationship has never been the reason for your persistence."

Rong Yin slowly turned her head and looked at the man who was burning with anger in her words, and her heart was shocked.

She thought she could still hold on.

But when she heard what he said, tears suddenly came out.

**

That afternoon.

Rong Yin went to the "Birth Record Hospital" alone to check the case of that year.

However, all the electronic files in the system for that year were manually cleared.

The hospital was so secretive that even the paper files could not be found.

The more she investigated, the more she found that every step was like walking into a big net.

And this net was woven by Lin Zhiyuan and Chi Yaomin.

**

At night, she came out of the hospital and a black car stopped at the intersection.

The car window slowly fell, and Lin Zhiyuan leaned on the driver's seat, smiling calmly.

"You finally came to see what I wanted you to see."

Rong Yin looked at him coldly: "What do you want to do?"

Lin Zhiyuan said softly: "I just want you to understand that you and Chi Yuchuan should not stand together."

"The deeper you investigate, the higher you stand, and the more painful it will be when you fall."

Rong Yin took a step forward and stared at him sternly: "Then wait and see if I will fall."

She turned and left, her steps were firm, and even the wind could not shake her at all.

Lin Zhiyuan looked at her back with gloomy eyes.

**

On the other side, Chi Yuchuan stood in front of the office window and received an anonymous express from his assistant.

It was a diary.

The signature was - Rong's mother.

On the first page, there was a line of words:

"Yinyin, no matter where you come from, you will always be my most beloved child."

Chi Yuchuan gently closed the diary and looked out the window.

He finally understood that this battle was no longer just a battle of power.

It was a battle for the heart and a struggle for fate.

And Rongyin, she would eventually reveal all the truth.

Even if the price might be - tearing up her original world.

**

Late at night.

He walked into her room and placed the diary on her bedside.

"Your mother left it for you." He whispered.

Rongyin took it gently, her lips pursed until they turned pale.

Chi Yuchuan paused, his voice slow but firm:

"Who you are is not determined by bloodline."

"It is what kind of person you choose to be."

She looked at him, her eyes slightly red, her throat tight: "Chi Yuchuan, will you always be by my side?"

He looked back at her, his eyebrows warm, and answered firmly and low:

"If you don't leave, I won't leave."

"Wherever you go, I will follow."
