Chapter 111 - Chapter 111: Grand Line Prep

Nami stares at the Log Pose on her wrist, a glass sphere with a trembling needle. Essential for navigating the Grand Line's unique magnetic fields, where regular compasses fail. Kiri explained it—without it, finding islands is near impossible.

"Hmm," she murmurs, testing it. Useless in East Blue, but vital soon.

"That's the Log Pose? Important, right?" Silk asks.

"Yeah. The Grand Line's islands emit special magnetism. This records it. Normal compasses go haywire there. Lose it, and we're done," Nami explains.

"Sounds tricky," Silk says.

"It's simple once you try. I've got the system down," Nami smiles, confident despite Silk's puzzled look.

The Grand Line's islands require staying long enough to log their magnetic field, then following the Log Pose to the next. Nami's thrilled by the challenge, buying two for safety—one on her wrist, one in her bag.

"Navigation gear's set. Anything else, Silk?" Nami asks.

"Chart paper, pens, ink—all good," Silk confirms.

"Clothes next," Nami says, excited.

"Where to?" Silk asks.

"Let's hit ten shops!" Nami suggests.

"Ten? Maybe fewer…" Silk hesitates.

"Big town, rare chance. Grand Line's dangerous—let's enjoy now," Nami urges.

"Time's tight," Silk points out.

"We'll be quick. Let's go!" Nami leads.

They walk through Loguetown's bustling streets, unnoticed despite their bounties. Just two friendly girls shopping.

"Our guys don't care about fashion. Sanji's into it but focuses on food. We'll handle it," Nami says.

"They're pirates—practical clothes only," Silk replies.

"You're no different," Nami teases.

"I'm not girly… grew up with boys," Silk admits, blushing.

"Same here. I'll style you. You're cute—let's make it pop," Nami grins.

"I'm not cute…" Silk mumbles, fidgeting.

Nami laughs, "You're hopeless."

"Don't laugh!" Silk pouts.

"Sorry, sorry. First shop's there. Let's go," Nami says, nudging her.

They enter, shopping for the crew and themselves, prepping for the long journey. No rush, just fun.

Nami notices a shift in the air. "Pressure's changing… rain's coming."

"Rain? Kiri'll be in trouble—he's useless when wet," Silk says.

"He's always useless unless serious. No worries—I'm the navigator. I'll handle any storm," Nami boasts.

"Reliable Nami. I like that," Silk says.

Nami blushes. "You're too much."

They laugh, bonded like sisters yet distinct, true crewmates.

"Let's go, Silk. The real fun starts now," Nami says.

"Lead the way," Silk replies.

They dive into shopping, smiles bright.

Sanji strolls the market, distracted by exotic ingredients and beautiful women. He carries a bag of spices, seeking more, but his eyes wander to passing ladies.

"Big towns are great," he sighs, itching to flirt but restrained by time.

He spots a father and child buying ice cream, a spiky-haired shopkeeper, a fiery-haired woman with two lackeys, and a tall man with an axe for a prosthetic arm.

"Whoa, that's a real axe," Sanji mutters as the man vanishes.

He refocuses on food. A fishmonger's stall catches his eye—a massive fish, twice his size, with long fins, an elephant-like trunk, and tusks.

"What's this funky fish?" Sanji asks.

"Elephant Honmaguro. Swam from the South Sea. I caught it!" the shopkeeper boasts.

"Impressive. For sale?" Sanji asks.

"Wanna slice?" the shopkeeper offers.

"I'll take it whole," Sanji says, unable to resist cooking it himself.

The shopkeeper grins. "You a cook?"

"Top-tier," Sanji replies.

"Makes sense. Whole it is," the shopkeeper says.

"Can you deliver to my ship? I've got more shopping," Sanji asks.

"Sure. Come back later, I'll send my guys," the shopkeeper agrees.

Sanji moves on, planning for the crew's big appetites, especially Luffy's. The Honmaguro won't suffice alone. He needs vegetables, fruits, and meat to keep Luffy happy.

"Gotta balance nutrition," he muses, smiling at the challenge.

Spotting a stunning woman with a golden mace, he's captivated. "Gorgeous… divine!" he exclaims. Everyone turns, her beauty universal.

He debates flirting but is interrupted. "Sanji!" Usopp calls.

"Flirting again?" Zoro teases.

"Ugh, you guys," Sanji groans, turning to see Zoro and Usopp.

"Nami or Silk would've been better," Sanji grumbles.

"Sorry we're not ladies. Done shopping?" Usopp asks.

"Not yet. Got a huge fish, but Luffy'll eat it in one go. Arlong's crew isn't shopping, so I'm planning extra. You?" Sanji replies.

"Zoro's done. I've got a few shops left," Usopp says, arms full of bags. Zoro sports three swords.

"Good timing. Zoro, help carry," Sanji says.

"Why me?" Zoro protests.

"You're free. Don't wanna starve, do you?" Sanji retorts.

"Booze?" Zoro asks.

"Carry, and maybe," Sanji says.

Zoro sighs but agrees. Usopp's fine with Sanji leading—no risk of getting lost.

Usopp scans the crowd nervously. "That newspaper's got us noticed. People are whispering, staring."

"Ladies staring? Nice," Sanji jokes.

"Not funny! A strong Marine's here. We met one—barely escaped. We should leave," Usopp urges.

"Worrying won't help. Relax," Sanji says, lighting a cigarette.

"Don't underestimate my fear!" Usopp snaps.

Sanji laughs, turning away. "Let's finish and sail. Come on, Zoro."

"Usopp, don't get caught," Zoro says.

"Wait! Alone's bad! Let's stick together!" Usopp panics.

"Too late," Sanji says.

They walk off, leaving Usopp scrambling. Despite their bickering, they move in sync, shopping briskly.

"Usopp's always loud," Zoro says.

"He's scared. Saw a guy with an axe arm earlier," Sanji replies.

"An axe?" Zoro frowns.

"You saw him?" Sanji asks.

"No, but I knew a guy like that. Navy caught him. Probably not the same," Zoro says.

"Does it matter?" Sanji asks.

"Just a hassle. I'd win, full stomach or not," Zoro boasts.

Sanji smirks. "That beauty, though… should've talked to her."

"Wouldn't work," Zoro says.

"What's that mean?" Sanji snaps.

"No woman's falling for you," Zoro taunts.

Sanji's temper flares. "Says the guy who doesn't know chivalry! Wanna bet? I'd win—my charm's leagues above yours!"

"Not interested," Zoro says.

"Scared you'll lose?" Sanji goads.

They stop, glaring. "I'd never lose," Zoro growls.

"That's my line," Sanji retorts.

"Back off now," Zoro warns.

"You'll regret this," Sanji says.

They break eye contact, storming off to shop, postponing their clash. Their pace quickens, oblivious to curious stares.
