Chapter 151 - Chapter 151: Assembly

As a member of S.H.I.E.L.D., Coulson had no choice but to obey his superiors' orders and do everything he could to protect the organization's interests.

"Lead the way," Wes said, not bothering to argue with him.

He knew that in a situation like this, more words would achieve nothing.

Coulson let out a breath of relief and hurried ahead to guide him.

The two boarded an advanced warship, which shot into the air like a massive steel bird.

In less than an hour, the warship slowly descended, landing with precision atop a colossal helicarrier.

Judging from the heavily fortified scene on deck, it was obvious that S.H.I.E.L.D. was fully prepared for battle.

Every staff member wore a grave, tense expression as they moved about, with all kinds of weapons and equipment on standby.

"We've been searching for the intruder with everything we've got, but so far we've found nothing," Coulson said helplessly.

"Someone will take over from here. I need to go pick up the others."

With that, without even stepping off the warship, Coulson turned and left in a rush.

Soon, a red-haired woman approached.

She wore a tight tactical suit that outlined her perfect figure with striking clarity.

"Hello. I'm Natasha Romanoff. I'll be taking care of you from here on."

This world-renowned Black Widow had undergone genetic enhancement, becoming a super-agent.

She possessed strength far beyond that of a normal human. Coupled with her irresistible charm and stunning beauty, she had become one of Nick Fury's most powerful aces.

Her reputation was already known across the world… though not exactly for good reasons.

Despite her beauty, Wes felt no desire toward her whatsoever.

Those who underestimated her—who thought only of her looks—had all become her prey.

That was how the Black Widow earned her name.

"Hello, Miss Romanoff," Wes greeted politely.

Natasha felt a slight flicker of surprise. She could sense that Wes held no lustful thoughts toward her.

She knew exactly why Fury sent her—the intention was nothing more than to use her beauty as leverage.

Even though she was currently worried sick about her missing partner, Hawkeye, she wasn't the type to let personal concerns get in the way of her mission.

Don't rush, she told herself. Maybe he just doesn't like this current style of mine.

Natasha was confident in her beauty, and extremely patient—just like a black widow quietly weaving a web, waiting for prey to fall in.

"Please follow me," she said, leading Wes through the helicarrier.

Rows of advanced fighter jets were lined up neatly, and classified high-tech weapons appeared one after another.

Shockingly, the helicarrier even carried nuclear warheads, displaying its terrifying deterrence capability.

At that moment, the entire helicarrier began to rise, lifting off from the ocean and ascending into the sky.

"Looks like everyone has arrived," Natasha said as she guided Wes toward the conference room.

There, an important meeting that could determine the fate of Earth was about to begin.

When Wes stepped into the conference room, Tony Stark's unmistakable voice immediately rang out.

"Wow—would you look at that. Didn't think Mr. Wizard here was interested in saving the world."

Tony's tone was laced with mockery and surprise.

Wes ignored him completely, casually picking a seat and sitting down as though nothing here had anything to do with him.

"Wizard??"

Steve Rogers and Bruce Banner both stared at Wes in shock, their eyes filled with confusion and curiosity.

"The world has changed this much? We have actual wizards now?" Steve said in disbelief.

"You sure he's not a magician?" Banner added, brows furrowed.

After receiving a firm confirmation, the two exchanged glances—both visibly stunned.

"Looks like no one here is normal. And this is the boyband you guys at S.H.I.E.L.D. want to assemble? Pathetic."

Tony's venomous tongue was as sharp as ever—he didn't even spare himself.

His arrogant demeanor and careless words instantly tightened the atmosphere in the room.

"Show some seriousness. This is a matter concerning the survival of the world," Steve said sternly, unable to tolerate Tony's flippant attitude.

His tone radiated duty and determination, standing in complete contrast to Tony's nonchalance.

"Or what? You gonna smack me with that antique shield of yours?"

Tony shot back without missing a beat, a provocative grin tugging at his lips.

One was strict and upright; the other, unpredictable and chaotic. These two extremes were destined to clash.

Is this team really supposed to save the world? Banner began to doubt everything, questioning whether he should have even come.

Just as Tony was about to fire off another barrage of sarcasm, Nick Fury pushed the door open and strode inside.

"I trust you've all met by now," Fury said, his voice calm and commanding.

Maria Hill followed close behind, handing out folders—one for each person.

Everyone flipped theirs open. Inside were basic profiles and areas of expertise for each member.

"This should help you get familiar with one another faster. Our situation is already extremely urgent."

Fury scanned the room, but no one responded.

Wes didn't even bother opening his file. He already knew there wouldn't be any real secrets recorded about him.

He sat quietly, eyes cold and indifferent.

"Why does Mr. Wizard here only have a name and age listed? Isn't S.H.I.E.L.D. supposed to know everything there is to know on Earth?"

Tony asked bluntly, not sparing the agency the slightest courtesy. His eyes shimmered with ridicule.

"All the other fields say 'unknown' or 'inconclusive.' Are you sure you guys are really the world's top intelligence agency?"

Tony's words were like arrows, piercing straight at S.H.I.E.L.D.'s authority.

Fury's brows tightened, his expression growing darker.

"The analysts could only deduce that he has numerous abilities based on the two times he's acted. But the specifics? Well… isn't the man himself sitting right here?"

There was frustration in Fury's voice. He wanted to understand Wes better—but the current situation made it impossible.

Everyone's gaze shifted to Wes—curious, probing, cautious.

A mixture of complex emotions filled the room, forming an invisible web.

Fury was deliberately trying to use the group's pressure to force Wes to reveal something—anything.

But Wes simply lifted his head and smiled faintly without saying a word.

There was something mysterious in that smile—difficult to read, even harder to decipher.

An awkward silence settled over the room.

Wes' aloofness made Nick Fury look like a complete joke.

A subtle heaviness spread through everyone's hearts.
