Chapter 13 - The Runes of Destiny

The afternoon sun filtered gently through the tall windows of the study room, casting warm pools of light across the scattered parchments and glowing sigils drawn carefully on the wooden floor. Izuku Midoriya and Momo Yaoyorozu stood side by side, the weight of the ancient grimoire resting on a low table nearby, its faint red glow pulsating softly like a heartbeat.

Izuku's fingers hovered over a circle of runes inked in shimmering gold, his eyes narrowed in concentration. "These runes," he murmured, "they're not just symbols. They're… gateways, channels for power. They connect the natural elements and the very essence of quirks, like a language of magic that binds everything."

Momo nodded, her eyes bright with curiosity and determination. "It's incredible. It reminds me of tactical diagrams — but with energy and intent woven in."

Izuku smiled quietly, the thought turning over in his mind. Momo is like a strategist, like… Black Widow, from the vision I saw. He admired her tactical mind, her precision, and grace. She had that same calm focus, the ability to see multiple steps ahead.

But he kept the thought to himself, unsure if revealing it would seem strange.

They resumed their practice, tracing runes in the air and on parchment, calling forth small bursts of elemental magic that flickered and danced at their fingertips. Izuku whispered the incantations, feeling the raw energy pulse beneath his skin, weaving the chaotic threads into something structured, something powerful.

Hours passed in a blur of concentration and discovery. They tested runes that summoned protective barriers, enhanced agility, and even subtle illusions that bent light around Momo, allowing her to slip almost unseen through the shadows.

During a brief pause, Izuku wiped sweat from his brow and glanced at Momo thoughtfully.

"You know," he began hesitantly, "you remind me of someone from the vision — a hero who's not the strongest physically, but who uses her mind and skills to outthink her enemies. Black Widow."

Momo tilted her head, curious.

Izuku smiled, encouraged by her interest. "She's a hero who relies on strategy, agility, and tactics — kind of like how you approach things. Maybe we can use magic to amplify those skills, make you even better at stealth and reconnaissance."

Momo's eyes sparkled. "That sounds amazing. How do we start?"

Together, they began experimenting with stealth-enhancing runes, tracing symbols that warped shadows and silenced footsteps. Momo moved with newfound grace, the magic blending seamlessly with her natural agility.

Izuku felt a surge of hope. Their combined strengths—her tactical genius and his magic—could shape a new kind of hero.

Between practice and planning, they shared moments of quiet conversation about the challenges ahead—balancing their secret magic with the expectations of U.A. High and the dangers lurking beyond.

As twilight deepened outside, a sudden tremor rippled through the magical currents they had been tracing—a faint but ominous warning that their path would soon grow darker.

Izuku's eyes hardened with resolve. "Whatever comes, we face it together."

Momo nodded firmly. "Together."
