Chapter 8 - Eight

"Juliet!? Are you there?" Asher asked through the phone. His voice was urgent.

"Asher, I'm here." She said, her voice shaking with fear, and concern.

"Good, Juliet, don't come back… I need you to run. There are people here. People that Vincent sent. I can't let him get you. They already got Miranda and… Let's just say she's in a better place."

Juliet sat up, new tears streamed down her face. "M-Miranda…" Juliet's head raced as she tried to process this information. "Where are you?"

"I'm on my way to the plain hanger between the bank and that cafe that we met at. Juliet, I'm going to need you to meet me there. But do it quickly, we need to board my jet and-"

"Asher, my work… My manuscript is in the mansion."

"One, Juliet, I don't care about any manuscripts. I care about your safety… And I have them. I was reading when the men busted through the door."

Juliet wiped her eyes and climbed into the driver seat. She turned the key and started for the plane hanger. She just climbed out of the car when a hand covered her mouth. She could see Asher climbing into the plane… If he doesn't have me… Juliet looked up and her eyes widened in terror.

Vincent smiled down at her. His smile was cold and cruel.

"Juliet!" Asher screamed her name as he ran out of the plane.

Vincent leaned closer, his breath was hot against her ear. "You really thought little, old Ash could keep you safe? Oh, sweet heart…" Once Asher got close enough, Vincent pulled a gun out from his belt and held it to Juliet's head.

Asher stopped in his tracks and raised his hands to show he's not a threat. "Vincent, please… Let her go."

Vincent smiled darkly. He began to pull Juliet towards his car. He tightened his grip on her once before he moved his hand to her chin. His thumb grazes her lower lip. "No… I think I'll keep this beauty."

Juliet's eyes trail to Asher. He went to say something but she slowly shook her head.

Vincent tightened his grip on her chin and forced her to look at him. "So beautiful and obedient…" He leaned even closer, his lips were inches away from hers. Just as he closed the space between their lips, Vincent aimed the gun at Asher and pulled the trigger. She tried to pull back to scream, but she couldn't

Asher stumbled back, hand on his chest. He tripped and fell back. Vincent tightened his grip on her to keep her from looking at Asher.

Vincent finally broke the kiss. "Get in the car." He demanded. When she didn't move, Vincent quickly became angry. "I said 'get in the car'." He snapped as he gripped her hair. He opened the back seat door and threw her into the car.

She laid in the back of the car, her tears could no longer come. She had cried herself dry from tears all of that morning. She laid there as Vincent climbed into the driver's seat and started the car.

"Don't cry, Juliet. You should know that men hate women that cry." Vincent said, his voice was uncomfortably soft.

Juliet couldn't cry if she wanted to, nor could she talk. She just stared out the window, watching as the scenes passed by. She stayed silent until they reached his house. He climbed out and flung her door open. Vincent grabbed her wrist harshly and jerked her out of her sleep.

He brushed a strand of hair out of her face despite her flinches. He ran his fingers down the side of her face. He pulled his hand away. "Go inside."
