Chapter 44 - Chapter 44 – Dungeon war – part 4.

[Current location: Beast dungeon.]

"…"

(Intruders….. Orders…. Eliminate….. Eliminate.)

(Destroy.)

(Destroy... Enemy.)

The golem dungeon has finally launched it very first attack against beast dungeon and from the get go, the golem dungeon did not held back as it send out a large army of golems of many different kind into their enemy territory.

But there was obvious problem that was mentioned by Ariava before.

The beast dungeon had time to reinforce their defenses since the golem dungeon did not attack even once, resulting in a large army of wolves straight up running towards the golems from the get go.

But even without direct control over them, the golems did what they were told.

The crossbow golems fired their volley of bolts at the wolves, wounding and killing some of the wolves…. But they were just meat shields for the wolves behind them to get close enough to attack the golems.

But as soon as they got close, the wolves were crushed by something.

It was not a hammer golem, but instead something more monster like.

A golem with gorilla like build made out of thick wood and reinforced with iron was standing in the wolves way.

(A standard model type golem, eh?) – thought Ariava while using her insect eye familiar to watch the fight.

(Wood based one, with metal reinforcements here and there so it would not collapse easily.)

(There is also some small spikes and its arms are straight up hammers.)

(….)

(Well, this maybe most commonly used golem type and everything…. But his judgment was correct.)

(This was the only thing he could make in order to stand up to the bears…. But the question is, will they do it?)

(Since by the looks of things, the beast dungeon ain't holding back.)

The gorilla like golems swung around their hammer lime arms, crushing and sending wolves flying, pretty much the same way the bears did to the golems before…. And those very same bears were making their through the wolves, knocking they away before then reaching the golems.

And as soon as they did, the new golems and the bears clashed with each other, which resulted in both creatures getting slashed and pummeled by their own weapons, damaging them.

But neither collapsed or backed away, instead they started attacking, tackling, smashing, scratching, tossing, pushing and what not.

It was a brawl.

"..'.

(Huh…. Would you look at that? Its working?)

(Honestly, I've expected the first version to fail or something…. Wait, is it first version through?)

(Maybe he was working on it for long time?)

"…"

"Eh, who cares."

"Let's just see how it goes."

Wolves and blade alongside hammer golems fought each other, while the bears and standard model golems continued their fight.

At the first glace, it looked like the fight entered a complete stand still where neither side was able to make any progress.

But that was because the monsters that were fighting could only fight at close range…. However, this wasn't really the case, since the golem side had crossbow golems that just finished their reload, which resulted in a volley of bolts to go flying, hitting the bears, injuring them to the point where the standard golems were able to finish them off and that instantly changed the course of battle.

(Huh. I guess he has advantage.)

(The beast dungeon does not possess anything that possess a long range attacks… This gives the golem dungeon a huge edge over them…..)

"…"

"But there is plain problem… He can't see it, but I can."

(Those standard golems maybe able to go head to head with the bears, but they are made out of wood.)

(Not some special wood or just bit tougher wood, but instead a regular common wood.)

She was right.

The standard golems were wooden golems, even if they were reinforced with iron, their main body was made out of wood.

Their bodies wouldn't obviously break that easily as if the dirt golems would, but still, those bears claws can tear wood apart.

Even if the joints and vurnable areas were reinforced, what would that matter if the main parts of the body is destroyed?

(This isn't all.)

(It is the same way it was with the bear.)

(They maybe big and strong, but they are also bigger targets.)

(When your golems could just stab and smash the bears like before, so can the wolves do the same.)

Again, she was right.

The standard golems bodies were getting attacked by all directions by the wolves and on top of it, the damage it had suffered from the bears was noticeable, resulting in the wood that makes the golem body to start being torn apart…. And before long, the first standard golem had fallen.

(Well, this guys is way inferior than grey bears.)

(Their attacks are slow, but not as slow as I've expected…. But their main problem is their durability.)

(Normal wood with basic iron reinforcing. They don't seem to possess anything special either like reinforcement magic.)

(They can hold off the bears, but obviously for the limited time amount of time.)

(Honestly, it is too bad that he cannot see this, since it would had been valuable lesson for him.)

The fight between the golems and the beast dungeon continued.

With the crossbow golems long range attacks and the standard golems power, the golems were able to push into the beast dungeon, slaying countless dungeon defenses while making their way deeper into the dungeon…. But there was problem.

The golems were getting beaten up and the damage was stacking.

One by one, different golems were being torn to shreds and whenever the bears did showed up, there were always casualties on the golem sides and as the time went by, more and more standard type golems were getting eliminated, which resulted in the pressure being put on the golem side that pilled on more and more as the number of the golems decreased…. Before then a completely and suddenly change happened that resulted in the beast dungeon turning the table and completely annihilating the golem attack force.

(Welp, that was to be expected.) – thought Ariava.

(It was obvious that the first attack would not be able to win this war.)

(…. Then again…. He did made quiet progress.)

(His army did managed to get quiet deep inside the dungeon on their very first attempt.)

(His standard golems maybe just a meat shields and his crossbow golems have limited amount of shots…. But they are effective.)

(The blade golems and the hammer golems, the only real finished ones are also making their presence.)

(This is quite good.)

[Meanwhile: Golem dungeon.]

"…"

(The first attack was sent out.) – thought Thauma as he worked on golem parts.

(It was sometime since they have left…. And I have yet to be attacked again by the beast dungeon.)

(Does that mean I have won?)

(…. But would the first attack really do it?)

(Maybe I should had created bigger army? But that would take time….)

(Improving the current design and apply the changes will take time….)

(Then maybe I should wait for the attack?)

"…"

(I don't know….. If only-)

"!?"

(ATTACK!?) – thought Thauma as it realized that something just entered the dungeon, causing it to instantly check who it was.

"?"

(Oh…. It's Ariava beast again?) – Thauma as it instantly calmed down upon noticing the monsters and letting it once again go through the dungeon unbothered, before then meeting up it.

"Sup." – said Ariava through her familiar.

"Okay. Since you don't know what exactly is going on outside and you don't have any means to "see", I will tell you whenever or not you had destroyed the beast dungeon."

"If you were wondering how you would know if that dungeon was still standing or not."

"Anyway, here is info."

"The attack you did, failed."

"The beast dungeon is still standing."

"…"

(I knew it…. The first attack would not do it.) – thought Thauma.

"BUT!"

"They were able to get quiet deep into the beast dungeon and they had slain countless beasts ."

"So, your attack was success while also being the failure."

"…"

(Wait, so it DID worked!?) – thought confused Thauma.

(Not only that, but she is saying that they were able to make quiet progress as well?!)

(Does that mean…. That my golems beat the bears?!)

"…"

"How far they managed to get?" – asked the puppet by writing down its question.

"Hm…. Between 40% to 30% of progress. Progress refers on how many monsters were killed and how deep your monsters went…. But this score? Is pretty impressive." – replied Ariava.

"Normally it would had been around 5% to 15% when similar powerful dungeons attacks each other."

"…"

(So I need at least between 2 or 4 attacks to destroy the beast dungeon!?)

(But there is also the dungeon master…. So maybe I would need 1 more or maybe 2 more attacks to bring down the dungeon?)

(But…. They struggled! I saw my golems struggling!)

(And the standard golem model wasn't perfect!)

(It should had not worked!?)

(Did I miscalculated?!)

"…"

(I can win….. I can really win!?)

(Honestly, I was starting to doubt if victory was even possible….. But by the looks of things, I was wrong!?)

(IT IS POSSIBLE FOR ME TO WIN?!)
