Sam stood his ground, his voice cutting through the chaos as he commanded his three Pokémon in unison.
High above, Mew floated lazily, tail swaying, eyes wide with a childlike spark of excitement as it watched the clash unfold.
The Three Titans pressed forward without mercy.
Regice unleashed a crackling Zap Cannon, its speed so blistering that Sam barely had time to react.
"Lucario, Extreme Speed, now!"
"Luka!"
In a silver blur, Lucario vanished from the attack's path.
The Zap Cannon slammed into the earth where he had stood a heartbeat before, detonating with a thunderous boom.
A smoking crater gaped in the battlefield's surface.
But there was no pause.
Registeel's eyes flashed, and it launched its own Zap Cannon, the glowing sphere locking on to Lucario mid-movement.
Darkrai, still recovering from its earlier Dark Void, couldn't act.
Sam's mind snapped to the only option.
"Silver! Protect, stop that attack!"
"Liiiii!"
Lugia dove, his body shimmering with power.
The ground split as a towering wall of stone burst upward in front of Lucario.
The electric blast struck home with a violent crash, shattering the wall into a storm of jagged rock and scattering sparks across the field like fireflies in a gale.
Before Lucario could recover, Regirock's own Zap Cannon began to charge.
The moment Lucario pushed forward, the attack streaked toward him like a blazing comet.
"Block it, Lucario!"
"Luka!"
Lucario crossed his arms, bracing.
The beam slammed into him, the impact forcing him back nearly ten meters, his feet carving deep trenches in the dirt.
Electricity crackled faintly across his fur.
His Steel-Fighting typing blunted some of the damage, but the sheer force still drained his stamina.
The Titans advanced, each glowing with the lingering energy of their Zap Cannons, Special Attack rising, their power mounting.
Sam's jaw tightened.
'If this keeps up, we'll be crushed. I need to break their formation, now.'
His gaze locked on Regice.
Incredible Special Defense, but far weaker physically.
Its moves were mainly Ice-type, making it perfect targets for Fire, Rock, Fighting, or Steel.
Take Regice down first, and the rest will fall apart.
"Lucario, Corkscrew Crash! Silver, Aeroblast! Darkrai, Dark Void! Pin Registeel!"
The orders came rapid-fire.
Darkrai's form rippled into shadow, spilling darkness across the battlefield.
A swirling black vortex opened beneath Registeel, ghostly hands rising to drag it down, locking its movements.
Lucario blazed with light, the energy of Aura erupting around him.
He drove his foot into the ground, cracks spiderwebbing beneath him, then spun forward in a deadly drill of motion.
Above, Lugia let out a piercing cry, tucking its wings tight as it plummeted, the air screaming in protest.
The dive carried crushing force, its body gleaming like a falling star.
Regirock roared, drawing back its massive stone fist, ready to meet Protect head-on.
Regice moved to protect its ally, faster than its hulking frame suggested.
With startling force, aiming straight for Lucario's charging strike.
BOOM!
BOOM!
Two impacts rocked the battlefield at once.
The ground trembled as shockwaves ripped through it, sending up choking clouds of dust and smoke.
The force of both collisions seemed to echo in the air long after the strikes had landed.
Through the swirling haze, two figures were hurled back.
THUD! THUD!
Lucario and Silver crashed into the ground, their bodies skidding across the dirt.
Regirock's stone arm bore deep cracks from Silver's Aeroblast, shards of rock breaking off with every movement.
Regice, whose icy body was said to withstand even molten lava, now had a clear dent in its chest where Lucario's Corkscrew Crash had landed.
"Luka…"
Lucario staggered upright, each breath ragged.
The Z-Move had drained him, leaving his stamina and aura reserves almost empty.
Still, his eyes blazed with sharp, unyielding resolve.
"Lili!"
Silver's breathing came heavy and labored.
Champion-tier strength and legendary potential gave him immense power, but Regirock's Rock typing hit hard.
The counterblow had been brutal.
Even so, he spread his wings again, refusing to yield. His fierce eyes shone with the same determination as Lucario's.
From the edge of the shadows came a low, dangerous hiss.
Darkrai hadn't joined in the previous clash; its focus had been on holding Registeel in place, but the effort had taken its toll.
Now, seeing its allies battered and struggling, its crimson gaze burned with cold fury.
"Luca. Silver. Darkrai."
Sam's eyes swept over his team.
They were battered, bruised, and barely standing, but not one of them took a step back.
Their will to fight blazed just as fiercely as his own.
A surge of pride welled in his chest, hot and unshakable.
Something inside him shifted.
The Viridian energy, his Psychic force, and Aura, powers that had always existed apart, now intertwined, weaving together like three cords forming a single, unbreakable strand.
Clarity washed over him.
'So this… this is my bond ability.'
Sam let the full force of that triple power flow into his Pokémon.
In an instant, their wounds began to heal, stamina and aura flooding back into their bodies.
The dull exhaustion in their eyes was replaced by fire, by unity.
He could feel it.
Their hearts beat with his own, their thoughts flowed with his.
They were moving as one.
Sam's gaze locked on the Titans.
"Now… It's our turn to strike back!"
"LUKA!!!"
"HISSS!!!"
"LILI!!!"
Their combined auras burst outward, towering pillars of light and energy lancing skyward.
"Miiiii…"
Even Mew, playful, mischievous Mew, went still.
Its wide eyes held no teasing glint now, only quiet respect.
Far above, in the stillness of the ozone layer, Rayquaza stirred from its slumber.
The emerald serpent's eyes slid open, peering far across the skies toward Kanto… toward Sam.
'The inheritor… You're growing quickly. I believe, when fate arrives… You will be ready.'
