Chapter 130 - Light

-----

The wind howled across the upper atmosphere, shrieking.

High above the clouds, Rayquaza surged upward, carving through the sky in a brilliant emerald streak.

The air thinned, the pressure dropped, but the dragon god only climbed faster, its entire being focused on the massive meteor hurtling toward the world below.

Sam squinted through the roaring winds, his heart pounding against his ribs.

The closer they flew, the more terrifying the meteor's size became.

It wasn't just a rock; it was a mountain, burning and spinning, blotting out the sunlight as it tore through the heavens.

Darkness swallowed everything.

Sam steadied himself on Rayquaza's back, his voice low but firm.

"Compared to this darkness," he said, glancing up at the meteor's blazing outline, "I'll take the warm sun any day."

He patted Rayquaza's scales.

"What about you, partner?"

"Roooaaarrrr!!!"

Rayquaza's thunderous cry ripped through the storm.

It wasn't just an answer, it was a promise.

Sam smiled, eyes sharp with resolve.

"Then let's get started."

He raised a shimmering stone, its surface swirling with rainbow light.

"Mega Evolution!"

The gemstone flared to life.

Three divine forces intertwined, life (Veridian), mind (Psychic), and Aura, flowing through the stone like liquid fire.

The energy surged into Rayquaza, who roared again as light engulfed its form.

The night sky exploded into color.

Rayquaza's scales glimmered like living emeralds, gold ribbons trailing from its body and dancing in the turbulent air.

Its power surged, its form stretching from one hundred meters to an awe-inspiring one hundred and fifty.

The Delta Symbol glowed on its forehead, pulsing like a second sun.

Sam's visor flickered as data scrolled rapidly across the screen before his eyes.

Rayquaza's roar tore through the heavens, echoing for miles.

Down below, far beneath the clouds, Wallace and the gathered trainers from Hoenn stared upward in awe.

The sight of Mega Rayquaza illuminating the darkened sky with prismatic light sent chills down their spines.

Even from that distance, they could feel its pressure, the weight of a being beyond mortal comprehension.

"Look at that…!" Wallace whispered, voice trembling.

"That's… the true power of the Sky Lord."

Another trainer clenched his fists, shouting toward the heavens.

"Come on, Sam! You can do this!"

"Rayquaza, we're with you!"

"We won't lose, no matter what!"

The combined shouts of countless trainers rose up like a prayer, carried by the wind.

High above, Sam heard them; he felt them.

His chest tightened, but not from fear. It was something deeper, something electric.

He leaned forward and shouted, his voice cutting through the roaring winds.

"Rayquaza! Let's finish this! Dragon Ascent!"

The Mega Rayquaza coiled its massive body, golden ribbons blazing like molten lightning.

Then it launched itself forward, faster than thought, faster than light.

The clouds split apart as it soared, leaving a glowing trail across the sky.

Even thousands of meters below, everyone could see it, a streak of gold and green piercing the heavens, rising higher and higher toward the burning meteor.

The roar that followed was not just a sound. It was a declaration.

Sam gritted his teeth, eyes locked on the meteor above.

"Rayquaza! Let's shatter this damned darkness with the power of the sky itself!"

Rayquaza's golden eyes burned with determination.

"ROAAAAARRR!!!"

The dragon god ascended.

Rayquaza answered Sam's call with a thunderous roar that shook the heavens.

The sound was not just a cry; it was a declaration of dominance, echoing through the endless sky.

"Let's finish this!" Sam shouted, his voice carried by the storm winds.

Mega Rayquaza, charged with the power of thunder and light, coiled its massive body.

Lightning crackled across its scales as it dove straight toward the descending meteor, a streak of gold and emerald against the darkness.

BOOM!!!

The heavens split apart.

A blinding explosion erupted as Rayquaza's Dragon Ascent slammed into the meteor's core.

The impact roared across the sky like the wrath of a god.

Shockwaves rippled through the clouds, shaking the atmosphere itself.

Cracks spread across the meteor's surface like veins of light, then it shattered.

Fragments scattered in all directions, burning to ash as they entered the atmosphere.

Below, the people of Slateport City shielded their eyes.

For the first time in days, sunlight pierced through the gloom.

Warm rays washed over the city, driving away the darkness that had loomed like a death sentence.

"It's light!" someone cried.

"The sun, it's back!"

Cheers broke out across the streets.

Tears and laughter mingled as families embraced, pointing to the blazing figure in the sky.

Above the clouds, Mega Rayquaza hovered proudly beneath the golden sun.

Its scales gleamed like a living jewel, ribbons of gold and green flowing around it like banners of victory.

And on its back, Sam stood tall, his eyes fixed on the restored horizon.

"Professor Samuel and Rayquaza… they did it!"

"Hoenn is saved!"

Wallace clenched his fists, tears of relief shining in his eyes.

"Steven, we're saved! Hoenn is safe!"

Steven Stone, standing beside him, didn't hesitate.

He pulled Wallace into a rough hug, both of them laughing like children who had just seen the world reborn.

High above, Cynthia looked to the sky, her gaze soft, her heart swelling with pride.

The sight of Sam standing against the sun made her chest tighten.

That's the man I fell in love with, she thought.

'Brave enough to stand alone against the end of the world.'

One Week Later

Time flowed quietly after the chaos.

The Hoenn region, once on the brink of destruction, had begun to heal.

With the help of the Hoenn Alliance, reconstruction efforts spread across the region.

Cities scarred by falling debris were rising again, stronger than before.

In Slateport City, life returned to normal.

The marketplace buzzed with laughter and trade, children ran through the streets with their Pokémon partners, and the sea breeze once again carried the scent of salt and warmth.

To honor the heroes who saved them, the citizens of Slateport raised funds to build a monument.

After weeks of planning and sleepless nights, a massive sculpture stood proudly at the heart of the city.

It depicted Mega Rayquaza coiling through the air, wings unfurled, its eyes fierce and alive.

On its back, a human figure stood tall, one arm raised toward the sky.

The artist named it "Light."

When the monument was unveiled, thousands gathered.

Old and young, trainers and citizens alike, all stared in silence before erupting into cheers.

Cameras flashed.

Tears were shed.

The story of Samuel and Rayquaza spread across the entire Pokémon world like wildfire.

They became symbols of hope, reminders that courage and unity could overcome even the heavens' wrath.

But where there is light… There is always a shadow.

Team Rocket Headquarters – Kanto Region

Deep beneath the earth, in the cold, dim-lit halls of Team Rocket's secret base, a different kind of silence reigned.

Inside an opulent office lined with monitors, Giovanni watched a replay of the meteor's destruction.

On screen, Mega Rayquaza soared like a divine force, reducing the apocalypse to dust.

Beside him stood Maxie of Team Magma and Archie of Team Aqua, men who once sought to command the primal forces of the earth and sea.

Now, they watched quietly, their faces lit by the glow of the video.

Giovanni smirked faintly.

"Impressive. Even with your Groudon and Kyogre at full primal reversion, you could never stand against that."

Maxie's jaw tightened.

"Mega Rayquaza…" he muttered.

"Its power surpasses even the legends we worshipped."

Archie grunted, folding his arms.

"Maybe so. But I'm not one to kneel just because I lost once."

Their voices were heavy, not just with defeat, but with lingering obsession.

Giovanni leaned back in his chair, eyes sharp with amusement.

"You're right to be angry. But power like that… takes time to control. Be patient. When Cyrus completes his experiment with the Red Chain, we'll see what kind of leash can bind a god."

"Cyrus?" Maxie frowned.

"You actually trust that lunatic?"

Giovanni's grin widened.

"Trust? No. But if his madness brings results, we'll make use of them. If not… we'll move on."

Archie exchanged a glance with Maxie.

Both men were silent for a moment, their ambitions burning quietly behind their eyes.

"Fine," Archie said finally.

"We'll wait."

Giovanni turned his gaze back to the monitor, where Rayquaza's radiant form still glowed against the sky.

"Enjoy your glory while you can, Professor Samuel," he murmured. '

"The higher you soar, the harder the fall."
