The black bear stood on its back legs and roared to the air. He could quickly see what they meant by Venom Bear as his body had missing patches of fur where the skin was visible. At those visible patches of muscle he could see green liquid running through the bear.
This bear was being drugged and kept alive using Venom. It was a problem a few years ago with Bane. But Venom became less of a problem after he left Gotham. But it appears there were a few using it for experiments and to boost themselves still.
The Venom Bear fell back to the all fours with a loud thump that tossed up the sand that made up the arena floor. He felt the ground shake as it landed then it came lumbering toward him at a fast speed. So he ran back at it.
Right as it swept at him with a paw he slid across the ground. Going under the giant bear. It immediately tried to drop its body on top of him. But Rico leveraged himself against the ground and kicked with both legs upward sending the Venom Bear flying into the air.
It was clear that it surprised the audience because they went silent immediately. While the bear made a surprised roar as its body flew through the air momentarily and then landed with a thud on its back.
Rico was already up and running to the bear as his legs screamed in pain. Pushing a giant bear in the air had done a number on his legs. But he needed to catch it off guard otherwise the fight would drag on with its massive size.
The bear was swinging its body to flip over just as he arrived. As it was off balance from flipping over he ran right into its head punching the bear in the head. Jarring it further as he quickly looked over the bear to spot a weak point. After a moment he saw a bald spot that was less muscly on its back.
Rico jumped up onto its back and grabbed a tuft of fur and punched down into the soft spot just as the bear began roaring at him. It then began shaking its back attempting to throw him off but Rico kept punching the sore spot. Eventually causing it to stand on its back to try and swing its claws at him.
Eventually he felt something crack under his fist and could see green spread through the bit of exposed skin he was punching. The bear gave a painful roar before it fell backwards. Not giving Rico a chance to jump off his back.
Rico felt the world spin for a moment as he landed on his back with this giant Venom Bear on top of him. He then pushed against it and pushed it to the side. Causing it to collapse to the side in a puddle of groaning bear as it did not even try to get up.
His entire body was hurting. More noticeably the fist he was punching the bear with was covered in purple spots and bruising spots. Along with one of his legs which he could feel had broken if only slightly. He pulled himself up with a grunt and moved to the bear. It groaned in pain and backed away from him.
So Rico stopped and looked around at the crowd which had stayed quiet. It immediately broke into roars and chants. "Name Him! Name Him! Name Him!" They called out as the large metal doors on either side of the arena opened up and a set of guards came in on four wheelers on both sides.
As they went up to the bear they poked him at a distance with taser sticks. It growled and jumped up clawing at them. They retreated and then poked him again prodding him in the direction of a giant pair of metal doors.
While another pair of guards walked up to him with guns drawn and waved their weapons in the direction of a cage they were dragging behind them. Rico sighed and stepped inside of the cage, limping as he moved. It was on a pair of wheels so they were quickly able to roll the cage after they closed the door. He was heading in the opposite direction of the Venom Bear.
After a minute he rolled into the underground of the arena. They then rolled him down some hallways past more starving prisoners until they arrived at a pair of wooden doors. They swung open with a loud groan and he arrived on a raised platform. Where there were already people gathering.
Nearby was a podium with a wooden mallet and a list. This seemed to be an auction and as he watched more items, animals, and slaves get rolled in he realized he was the main attraction. He tore his sleeve off and wrapped his hand in it as he waited. Hiding the damage from the bear.
The auction was all a bunch of private booths where he could not see the buyers. It seems they made it entirely anonymous. Probably for the buyers safety but as the buyers began pooling in he could make out mobsters from various factions. After a couple dozen more minutes a man walked onto the stage in a fancy suit and a bird mask on.
"Welcome ladies and gentlemen to the daily auction! It seems our main attraction has caught much of your attention! Now then let's get started on the bidding for Ricardo Bell! The only person to have best the Venom Bear with his fists!" The announcer yelled loudly with his arms spread open.
