The door to the roof swung open and smashed against the wall. Gordon ran out with his gun drawn. Montoya and several officers followed him out, quickly breaking apart as they looked over the roof. The bat signal had gone out despite none of the officers being up here. So when they noticed they came up with their weapons drawn. Especially since nowadays Batman usually called them to let them know they were dropping by.
Gordon slowed to a stop as he arrived near the edge of the roof where Poison Ivy in a zip up hoodie, jeans, and a loose pair of boots was leaning against the edge of the roof. She was just casually sitting there relaxing. In one of her hands she had a folder. Running up and down her other hand was a green vine that was slithering.
She raised an eyebrow as she looked at them. "Hope you do not mind. I needed to get in contact with the big man." She nodded at the spotlight that was shining a batsignal into the clouds above Gotham. "But it is not like he has a number for me to just call."
Gordon looked around for a moment before he sighed and holstered his pistol. "Miss Isley-"
"Doctor." Poison Ivy corrected him.
Gordon just looked exasperated. "Doctor Isley, what in the world are you doing? From what I understand there are no open warrants out for your arrest after you were freed last time." He pointed out as he waved off his officers. Quietly giving them an order to head back down.
"Honest work." She answered by getting a deadpan stare instead. She shrugged, "I am working with a group of mercenaries now. They came across some rather interesting information that we could sell. So we came up with a plan to come and sell it to the only person who clearly needs it since something big has been going on underneath all of Gotham's nose." She explained nonchalantly. She then raised and waved her hand, the spot light switching off. "So what do you say? You want to buy the information, Batman?" She looked over to a dark spot on the roof.
Gordon, Montoya, and a few of the officers who were on the roof looked over to see Batman step out of the shadow with his trademark scowl. "What is this about?"
"A big mystery in Gotham that you missed. A massive human smuggling ring. So… Do you want it?" Poison Ivy asked as he waved the folder in the air.
It was suddenly snatched out of her hand as a figure flipped through the air and landed next to Batman. It was the new Robin in his far more goth designed costume. He smirked triumphantly. But Poison Ivy just shrugged like it was no big deal.
Robin opened it and the smirked disappeared as he clicked his tongue as the file was empty. "It was empty." He looked over at Batman but the man seemed unsurprised.
He seemed to still be in thought like he was calculating something just like he usually did. Then after a moment he grunted, "what do you want for this information?" Batman asked with a growl.
"What? Why can't we just take it?" Robin asked blatantly.
Gordon decided he should answer. "Because even if she has a criminal path she is not doing anything illegal. She is only offering information. So trying to interrogate to get the information out of her would only result in a costly lawsuit. While on the other hand…" He looked at Batman. "His other tactics would not work on someone who clearly came with an idea in mind already."
"Money. Plain and simple." Poison Ivy answered. Shrugging when even Batman crossed his arms in doubt. "We know you have the means to transfer the money. Just use the same method Red Hood did to make it untraceable. He no doubt learned the trick from you."
There was a moment of silence as even Gordon was processing that. "Hmmm… fine. How much?"
"You decide after you hear my information. I will trust you to pick the appropriate amount." Poison Ivy answered before looking over at the police officers. "Are you sure you want them here?"
Gordon narrowed his eyes for a moment but then sighed. "Let's head back down, give them some-"
"Gordon and Montoya stay. The information might be relevant for one of their cases anyways." Batman informed them. Gordon waited a moment before nodding at the other officers signalling them to leave.
Poison Ivy waited until they were gone before she turned her attention to the vigilantes again. "Our information is limited so we only know for certain about one of the entrances. But I am sure you will be able to work from there." She slightly unzipped her hoodie and pulled out a piece of paper from between her breasts. She then stepped forward and handed it to Batman. "In the literal caves underneath Gotham in a place they call the Gotham Underground, the not so flamboyant members of Gotham's criminal world have come together to profit. Against all odds they have essentially built their own society of crime and order. I am sure you noticed an increase in missing person's reports at some point. This was the cause. They were using this underground as a market for people and illegal goods."
"How about the entrance you mentioned?" Batman asked after Poison Ivy stopped talking for a few moments.
"It is in Blackgate. In the Solitary area, or wherever they were holding Ricardo Bell. He said he just went to the brick wall that looked like an older part of the building. It opened up and led down into the Gotham Underground's most famous attraction. The Pits." Poison Ivy explained. "From what I understand they force people to fight in this place."
"Is Ricardo Bell among those fighting?" Batman asked.
"Yes," Poison Ivy nodded. "Apparently he even made a friend in the form of Killer Croc."
"What….?" Gordon asked in confusion. He had gotten a report that Waylon Jones was dead. After a confrontation near a sewer entrance he had disappeared and a large amount of blood and scales were found. Too much for even Waylon to have survived. But could he have just gone into this Gotham Underground by accident and gotten captured? Because they would not have intentionally brought him down especially after she just finished mentioning the flamboyant members being kept out of the Gotham Underground.
"They force them to fight to the death?" Batman asked.
"Yes," Poison Ivy nodded. "But I would not worry about him. You should be more worried about his opponents. Apparently their first fight working together was an absolute bloodbath."
Gordon looked to the side at Montoya. "Montoya, go dig up the information on the location that Waylon disappeared from. I think I might know another entrance location for this Gotham Underground."
Montoya nodded her head and walked off while the rest of them listened to a bit more of the information Poison Ivy had before she waved goodbye and tossed herself over the side of the roof. He was surprised for a moment until she saw a plant carrying her along the sides of buildings.
"What are you thinking?" Gordon asked as he stepped closer to Batman.
"I am thinking I have gotten rusty. I failed to notice a gigantic smuggling ring and criminal hideout just under my nose. I have become too predictable even for the common thug." Batman growled out. I will work the Blackgate angle. "There is no doubt that the Warden and guards are being paid off."
"Then I will work on finding the entrance from where Waylon disappeared. I figure he found it by accident after running into my people. If they had looked closer they may have even stumbled upon it. So I will have my best people on it." Gordon answered. Gordon blinked as there was a crack of lighting then he felt a raindrop fall on his nose. He looked up to the sky as it began to rain. "Huh it is-" He looked back down to see both Batman and Robin had disappeared.
