Chapter 4 - CHAPTER 4

Amari merely nodded, her expression indifferent. "Let him be. He doesn't seem to have any bad intentions. Maybe it's just a coincidence that he ended up following me. He could be after something else entirely."

After a long and exhausting day, she slept soundly that night.

She used to be so afraid of losing Sebastian. The thought of him being gone from her life terrified her. But now that he truly was out of her life, it felt like something important had been ripped from her — a piece of her heart she hadn't realized she'd still clung to. She reflected on it deeply and finally accepted it as fate.

"What I thought was a lonely pillow turned into a dreamless night," she whispered to herself.

At least, she was free from that man.

Amari rose early the next morning, feeling unusually clear-headed. She made her way to the kitchen and prepared her breakfast. As she looked at the plate laid out before her, she smiled to herself.

She loved a classic Filipino breakfast — scrambled eggs, a hearty bowl of sopas, and a steaming cup of barako coffee. But Sebastian never enjoyed these local dishes. He was accustomed to American-style breakfasts — pancakes, bacon, toast. For years, she had adjusted to his preferences, rarely eating what she truly liked.

"Now, I can finally love myself better. I can eat what I want, live how I want, and feel at peace," she said aloud as she admired the food before her.

While sipping her coffee, her phone rang. It was Lea. She had good news — the legal department at the Haskel Group was eager to meet with her, and an appointment had already been set.

Finishing her breakfast, Amari got ready and left her villa.

Unbeknownst to her, a black car was parked not too far from her property. Inside, a man observed her closely through tinted windows. He dialed a number on his phone as he stepped out of the vehicle.

"Boss, she just left."

"Keep tailing her," came the firm response.

Inside another vehicle, Sebastian clenched his jaw in frustration. He had only recently discovered that Amari owned her own villa — something she had kept hidden from him throughout their marriage. And now, she had forced the divorce as if it meant nothing.

"That woman... she's changed. She's hiding something," he muttered to himself.

Amari arrived at the Haskel building and walked into the office with confident strides. There, seated by the window, was Kayden Santos — a senior lawyer and one of her mentors during law school.

As she approached, she smiled warmly. "Senior, you're early."

Kayden looked up, surprised. His eyes widened when he recognized her. "Amari?"

She gave a soft laugh. "You should call me Luna."

His eyes widened further. "You're... Luna?" he asked, stunned.

He had long admired Amari as a top-performing student. But it had never occurred to him that she was the same "Luna" — the elusive, brilliant legal strategist known in high-profile circles.

Amari felt a flutter in her chest. It had been a long time since she allowed herself to feel pride in her work. But there was no time for nostalgia — they had a case to discuss.

As they delved into legal discussions, Amari remained oblivious to the man watching her from outside — Sebastian.

He saw her sitting across from a man he didn't recognize, laughing and speaking with ease. That smile — he hadn't seen it in so long. It burned him to see it now, directed at another man.

His expression darkened.

He once thought Amari was meek, a woman who depended entirely on him. But now, the woman he saw through the glass was independent, focused, and glowing with confidence. To Sebastian, it felt like a betrayal — as though her happiness meant his death.

Inside, Amari remained fully immersed in her conversation with Kayden. After their meeting, they decided to grab a quick meal before parting ways.

On her way back to the car, Amari thought about how long it had been since she last went shopping for herself. Spontaneously, she made a detour to the mall.

She browsed through boutiques, picking out a few outfits and small items that brought her joy — something she hadn't done freely in years.

By the time she returned home to her villa, the sun was setting.

One of her staff members greeted her at the door and handed her a detailed inventory of her belongings — items that had been moved from Sebastian's house to her villa in the past two days.

As she glanced through the list, something felt off. Her eyes widened.

She reached for her neck, a sudden panic washing over her.

"Where's the necklace?!" she exclaimed.

That piece of jewelry wasn't just any necklace — it held sentimental value. She couldn't afford to lose it.

She mentally retraced her steps and remembered the chaos of leaving Sebastian's house. In the rush, she must have forgotten it.

Without hesitation, she decided to return to Sebastian's mansion.

As soon as she arrived, she made her way directly to her former bedroom. She wasn't prepared for what she saw.

There, standing in front of her large dresser, was Sebastian.

He was staring intently at a wristwatch — the one she had once planned to give him as a gift, but ultimately discarded in the trash. It had meant something to her once, and apparently, it still did to him.

For a moment, Sebastian didn't even notice her entry. He remained fixated on the watch, lost in thought.

Amari stood at the doorway, stunned. In the three years they had been married, Sebastian had never once stepped into their shared room. And now, here he was — in the space she once called her sanctuary, holding onto a piece of a memory she thought he had long since abandoned.
