Chapter 5 - Chapter 5 - The Burning forest

The Next Day

' ' Tsk.. This is suboptimal... If only there we're better sources of transportation... ' '

Nathaniel would groan and mumble as he walked towards the coordinates given by the clerk

His legs would hurt, yet he continued to march. He was a huntee after all, a veteran infact. Why would this stop him?

...Yet even so, the human body needed nourishment thus he decided to rest for a bit

' ' Erk... ' '

His stomach would growl with hunger, he had yet to feast for he was preoccupied with the quest.

Luckily he did not need to worry about fire to cook meat for he knew fire magic.

'I should set up camo here for a bit, There should be wild life here, even a rabbit should suffice'

Nathaniel thought to himself as he ventured into the woods straying from the path the road had paved

...

The bushes rustles and the forest was quiet, yet Nathaniel knew not to let his guard be lowered by the sense of peace and serenity for there could be dangers that lurk

Crack, Rustle

The sounds of life echoed in the distance, Nathaniel peaked the corner of the tree trunk to check for wild life to see a deer grazing at the distance

'Calculate... Hm.. This tree should be about 27 feet since It's 5 times my height and I'm 5'5... That around 3 trees far... 81 feet. Doable.'

Nathaniel would swiftly calculate the distance in his mind before conjuring a burning spear with his magic

'This angle should be correct...'

' ' Hup! ' '

Nathaniel threw the spear as far as he could, Piercing the air with frightening speeds it would puncture the deer's stomach without much trouble

' ' Hah... Mathematics does come in helpful sometimes eh? ' '

Nathaniel would snicker to himself before walking to the deer

'Ashame some of the meat was burnt by it but this is plenty of meat for 3 nights'

He'd think to himself before dragging the deer with him

'Now... Just a safe place to rest'

Nathaniel continued to walk before stumbling into a small cave

' '...' '

Nathaniel stood there, still and silent contemplating wether or not he should go inside

' ' Either I die in there or sleep outside and risk dying outside... Fuck it... ' '

Nathaniel sighed as he dragged the deer into the cave, Picking up some wood along the way he began to make his encampment

Sizzle

The meat began to get cooked, Nathaniel had made sure to cover the entrance just enough to make sure he could react to any threats lining the remaning cracks with loud objects to wake him up

' ' Bon Appetit...' '

Nathaniel chewed on the meat... Surprisingly

' ' It's fucking ass... Yuck.. It's bettee than nothing ' '

Nathaniel endured the horrible taste, At least it nourished him.

'Is this is why she always told me that when I cook I should season it... Hm. I wonder if I'll ever meet her again'

Nathaniek reminisced about his past life before finishing his meal

The next day.

Nathaniel stood up, surprisingly he was unbothered by any beasts of the forest, why so? even yesterday... the forest was eerily silent.

Without much choice, Nathaniel continued his march onwards venturing back to the path, forward, Upwards up the path until...

'I see smoke... I smell fire... Ack-'

Nathaniel coughed up as he finally saw past the horizon... A forest in flames, smoke filling the air as it drifted towards him

'Are they sure I should be taking this quest? Hah..'

Nathaniel groaned as he continued on..

'Tsk.. it's getting dificult to breathe properly'

Nathaniel soon began to use his mask once more using some mana to move the flames away from him, As well as some smoke in order to make it easier to search for any survivors

'Are there even any here... In the first place why is a Village in the middle of a forest?.. Unless they're not human... Or... could it be..? Shit-'

Nathaniel soon had a realization, A burning village, in the middle of nowhere? Furthermore, A task much
