Chapter 7 - CHAPTER 7

Olivia turned back at the sound of that deep yet calm voice. As soon as she turned, she saw an extremely handsome man with deep brown eyes walking toward them. The man looked like a model walking his own runway, his long legs moving elegantly toward them.

"Robert, how come you're here?" Vivian asked the approaching man.

"I came for an inspection, and I saw an interesting vehicle outside my private mall," he replied jokingly as he reached Vivian's side.

"Humpp… Mother told me to take the vehicle and bring this country bum— woman here for shopping," Vivian replied, eyeing Olivia coldly.

"And if I may ask, who is this beautiful lady?" Robert asked, addressing no one in particular.

"She's the second Bradford's so-called wife," Vivian replied instantly, without giving Olivia a chance to speak.

"The second Bradford's wife?!" Robert exclaimed, looking surprised, already wondering how the second Bradford had gotten married without telling any of his friends.

"You're shocked too, right? I was also wondering why the second Bradford would marry this kind of woman," Vivian said.

After regaining his composure, Robert replied, "Don't get me wrong — I'm not shocked about the woman. I'm just wondering why Ale— I mean, the second Bradford, got married without telling his friends."

"Whatever. He hasn't even seen his wife before," Vivian replied grudgingly.

Turning his attention away from Vivian, Robert faced Olivia, smiling slightly.

"What's your name, beauty?"

"Olivia," she replied, wondering if this dangerously handsome young man knew her mysterious husband well.

"Nice. I'm Robert Coker," he said, briefly introducing himself.

Coker — is that the same Coker family, second only to the Bradfords? Olivia mused, feeling amused. Deep down, though, she already knew it was the same Coker family, because his face looked familiar. Yes — she remembered now. She'd seen him on the news before. He was the heir to the Coker multibillion-dollar company, a company dealing in real estate and investment — the family ranked second only to the Bradfords. He is the owner if this private shopping mall as well if she can remember vividly

"Nice to meet you," Olivia replied, feeling as though her dead dreams had been revived once again.

"Well, if you're done greeting each other, we can continue our shopping," Vivian interrupted. "Actually, you know what, we don't need to shop again…" Turning to the attendants, Vivian said, "Send all the clothes to the Bradford mansion, and make sure they're based on the requirements I gave. One last thing — let everything be the color green,"

"That can't wo—" Without waiting for Olivia to finish her words, Vivian turned to Robert and said, "Robert, I'll get going now. Help me greet your mother. Tell her I'll come visit next week. Have a nice day." After saying her piece, she walked out of the mall without glancing back at Olivia.

"I'll get going too, then. Goodbye," Olivia said to Robert, walking outside to catch up with her "shopping boss."

The second Bradford, married, and coming back to the country — this should be interesting, Robert thought, chuckling inwardly. He knew why the second Bradford had left the country in the first place, and his coming back now as a married man was definitely interesting.

After getting into the car, Olivia realized it was already evening. She logged into her friends' group chat and began telling them everything that had happened during the day.

Losing track of time while chatting with her friends, Olivia noticed the car had stopped in front of the mansion. She went inside and saw the same doctor who had taken her blood that afternoon, seated in the living room with her mother-in-law.

"Come here," her mother-in-law's voice echoed through the living room.

"Yes, madam," Olivia said, knowing she was being addressed.

"Your test results are out. There are some things in your body that will affect the second Bradford. The doctor will give you some drugs to use — make sure you take them diligently and consistently," Skyler said authoritatively.

Taking drugs had never been Olivia's specialty, even from a young age. She'd always preferred injections instead. But right now, she had no choice but to nod affirmatively.

Something in her body — like what. She had always been an healthy girl that rarely fell sick". Olivia wondered, trying to figure out what could affect the second Bradford and why. What kind of condition does the second Bradford even have? she puzzled.

"That will be all for now, Mr. Benson. If anything comes up, you'll be summoned."

Skyler's words brought Olivia out of her thoughts. After that, the doctor gave Olivia a series of drugs, which frightened the not-so-drug user Olivia.

"Prepare for dinner," Skyler said to the maids, without so much as looking at Olivia's expression, still deep in conversation with Vivian.

Dinner was silent and awkward for Olivia, as usual. At least she'd gotten used to having silent meals in the Bradford family. After dinner, Olivia went back to her room to prepare for the next day. After bathing, she heard a knock on her door.

"Come in," she said.

"Madam said I should bring your medicine and make sure you take it in my presence," the maid said, handing Olivia the drugs.

Oh, shit… I forgot the drugs in the dining hall, Olivia thought as the maid finished speaking.

She took the drugs from the maid and stared at them as if facing a formidable enemy — well, to her, they were an enemy. Olivia counted the pills and found there were six.

Six drugs?! Olivia thought, shedding tears in her heart. I've never taken more than a single pill, and even that was always forced.

Seeing the maid watching her, Olivia braced herself and threw all the pills into her mouth at once. To her, it felt like a century had passed before she managed to swallow them.

After she was done, the maid left her room, and she went to sleep, preparing for the next day — the day she'd be seeing an IQ expert.
