"They couldn't even withstand a single move…"
Steven stood there in silence, staring at his fallen Aggron. For a long while, he said nothing. A deep, helpless frustration welled up inside his chest.
Helpless—so utterly helpless. Never in his entire life had he been beaten this badly before.
How was one even supposed to fight against such an opponent? This was… absurd.
Across from him, Blue's expression had turned an ugly shade of green. Watching their allies' Pokémon being taken down one after another, slaughtered, even he felt nothing short of sheer exasperation.
"I knew I shouldn't have come! Damn that Red, that stupid bastard!"
Blue cursed bitterly under his breath. Back when he crushed by Lucas' Reshiram and Lunala to the point he couldn't even react, he had already realized just how insurmountable the gap between them was.
He'd wanted to withdraw right then and there. He was a proud, arrogant person—he knew his limits. Voluntarily walking into a fight where he'd be beaten bloody wasn't his idea of fun.
What he should be doing was training hard, getting stronger, and coming back later for payback.
That was the logical, rational thing to do. And truthfully, Blue wasn't even a League trainer anymore. If it weren't for Red's personal request, he wouldn't have joined this battle for Saffron City at all.
Calm, intelligent, diligent, and most importantly—talented. Blue possessed nearly every quality needed to become successful. That was why, at such a young age, he had already approached the level of Champions.
But thanks to Red's request, he now found himself in an unbelievably awkward situation.
Should he go all in?
Go all in against a Necrozma that had practically lost its mind?
Was he insane?
"Charizard! Fire Blast!"
Just as Blue was debating whether he should make a show of attacking and then quietly "clock out," his best friend's familiar, serious shout rang out beside him.
Blue glanced sideways at Red—yes, just as he expected. His expression was calm and focused, his crimson eyes locked unwaveringly on Necrozma.
As always, he was trying to think of a way to defeat his opponent—so earnest, so full of justice.
Red's Charizard X roared, spreading its wings wide as a massive Fire Blast exploded toward Necrozma.
"Moongeist Beam."
Lucas's gaze drifted toward Red. Come to think of it, in the original world, Red's Charizard's Mega Stone had been gifted by Fuji himself.
But in this world, Dr. Fuji had long been taken away by Lucas, forced to help research Mewtwo 2.0.
So where had Red gotten his Charizardite X from?
For a brief moment, Lucas pondered the question, but quickly shrugged it off. Red was a prodigy blessed by fate—having a few lucky encounters wasn't unusual.
Besides, the Oak family had always been close to Red's family. If Professor Oak saw Red's potential, it wouldn't be strange for him to have prepared a Mega Stone for him in advance.
And indeed, that was the case. Knowing Red and Blue would both be joining the battle for Saffron City, Professor Oak had decisively given them his prepared gifts—a Charizardite X and a Blastoiseite.
"Croooo~"
Necrozma let out a low, eerie hum as deep black energy gathered in front of it.
Moments later, a massive beam of shadowy light tore through the air, colliding head-on with Fire Blast.
BOOM!
The two attacks crashed violently, shockwaves rippling outward.
But the next second—Necrozma's beam completely shattered Fire Blast and continued surging straight for Charizard X!
"Charizard!" Red's red eyes widened.
Charizard X noticed the danger immediately and tried to dodge, but—it was too fast!
The Moongeist Beam was simply too fast!
Even at top speed, Charizard X couldn't fully evade it. The beam grazed its wing, searing pain exploding through its body.
With a sharp cry of agony, Charizard X spiraled downward uncontrollably.
Lucas chuckled softly. As expected, Red's Charizard did put up a better fight than the others.
But that was all. It merely lasted a few moves longer.
"Photon Geyser."
Necrozma raised its head, golden light gathering at the tips of its wings—an almost divine radiance flickered across its Dawn Wings form.
"Pikachu, Thunder!"
That same golden light filled Red's vision but instead of admiration, he felt a bone-deep chill.
This was the light of death.
Pikachu darted across the battlefield, lightning crackling across its small body as a massive thunderbolt speared toward Necrozma.
"Togekiss, Dazzling Gleam!"
Cynthia quickly stepped in to assist Red.
Pink energy shimmered around Togekiss, releasing a brilliant burst of fairy light toward Necrozma.
"Your teamwork is timely… but…"
Lucas glanced at Cynthia with faint amusement. Even facing absolute despair, this woman still refused to give up.
Necrozma ignored both incoming attacks. Two golden lights condensed before it.
Photon Geyser!
A golden beam erupted—piercing straight through the air and striking Charizard X before it could recover.
Another explosion thundered across the battlefield.
Red's heart clenched as Charizard X's pained cry echoed in his ears. His lips pressed tightly together.
But he still had hope—Pikachu's Thunder and Togekiss's Dazzling Gleam would land soon!
BOOM!
Both attacks struck home!
And yet…
When the smoke cleared, Charizard X had already fallen, reverting from its Mega form, unconscious.
Necrozma had claimed six kills. It ruled the battlefield.
"H-how is it…?" Iris's voice trembled as she looked toward the smoking crater where Necrozma floated, her small hands clenched tightly.
The pressure it exuded was simply too terrifying. They just wanted to see it take some damage—to prove it wasn't invincible.
But as the smoke cleared, the radiant, unscathed form of Dawn Wings Necrozma came into view.
"It's just that your strength is… lacking."
Lucas's calm voice reached their ears like the toll of a bell.
Necrozma's eerie, luminescent form hovered in the air—completely unscathed.
The entire field fell silent.
Cynthia bit her lip, closing her eyes helplessly. The blow to their morale was crushing.
"Psychic."
Lucas's voice broke the silence.
Necrozma's eyes gleamed blue—and in the same instant, Pikachu's body was lifted helplessly into the air, enveloped by the same blue light.
"Pikachu!" Red shouted in panic.
The electric mouse struggled desperately, sparks flickering at its cheeks—but its limbs couldn't move at all. Its agility was utterly useless.
"Photon Geyser."
"Togekiss, Brave Bird!"
Cynthia called out again, unwilling to just stand by and watch her ally's Pokémon fall.
Togekiss cried out, its body wrapped in blue fire as it transformed into an avian comet, charging at Necrozma!
Two golden points merged into one—Photon Geyser launched once more!
BOOM!
Pikachu hit the ground hard.
Necrozma had claimed seven kills. It was no longer just godlike—it was a god.
Red's eyes dimmed.
Togekiss's Brave Bird struck next—slamming into Necrozma's back with explosive force.
But Necrozma only wavered slightly—it didn't even move its feet.
"Togekiss, fall back!" Cynthia shouted immediately.
If her attack didn't even scratch it, Necrozma's counterattack was coming next.
"Can you run?" Lucas smiled faintly. "Necrozma."
Necrozma's wings glowed faintly—and with a single motion, it slashed backward.
Shadow Claw!
The strike sent Togekiss hurtling through the air, its cry filled with pain.
That same golden light shone again—Photon Geyser!
BOOM!
The beam caught up to the tumbling Togekiss, detonating in midair.
The shockwave blew across the battlefield, sending Steven and the others' hair flying. But their faces were all the same—heavy and grim.
Bang! Togekiss crashed to the ground, defeated.
Necrozma's eighth kill. It had transcended even gods.
"NECROO!!"
Necrozma's roar echoed through the air, filled with exhilaration.
It had been sealed for far too long!
Starved of light, it had suffered for eons.
But now, not only had it absorbed light once more, it could finally release its pent-up rage.
It felt so good!
"Necrozma seems to be enjoying itself," Lucas said lazily, resting his chin in his palm as he gazed up at the creature.
Red and the others said nothing.
Red frowned slightly, glancing toward his remaining companions.
Steven and the rest turned their eyes toward Blue.
Because…
The only Pokémon still standing on the field—was Blue's Mega Blastoise.
Every other Pokémon had been completely wiped out by Necrozma.
Blue: "???"
Blue's face darkened. "Why the hell are you all looking at me like that?"
"Blue, aren't you going to attack?" Lucas asked curiously. He had a tendency to give those he acknowledged a chance to prove themselves.
Blue's expression twisted.
Attack? Are you insane? I'll get vaporized in a second!
The pressure was immense. Every gaze on the battlefield was focused on him. He was now the last remaining hope.
"Blastoise! Hydro Cannon!"
Blue straightened up, his handsome face turning serious as he gave the command loudly.
A bunch of useless weaklings—getting flattened so easily! Once again, it fell on him to clean up their mess.
Mega Blastoise roared, pure blue energy spiraling around its body. A massive sphere of compressed water energy formed before its cannon.
Then, with a deafening blast, Hydro Cannon fired toward the floating Necrozma!
"Photon Geyser."
Lucas's calm voice sounded again.
Golden light gathered at Necrozma's wings—two points merging into one blinding beam.
The two attacks collided midair.
BOOM!
The impact sent fierce shockwaves tearing across the field, forcing everyone to shield their faces.
But it only lasted a moment.
Hydro Cannon's water sphere was completely shattered, and Photon Geyser continued straight ahead—striking Mega Blastoise squarely!
Another deafening explosion.
When the smoke cleared, Blastoise had already reverted from its Mega form, lying unconscious on the ground.
Necrozma's ninth kill.
Necrozma was unstoppable.
Blue silently withdrew Blastoise's Poké Ball, not showing the slightest hint of surprise. Unlike the others, he wasn't weighed down by despair or disbelief.
How laughable. Did they really think he, Blue, was like those useless fools?
Yeah. All done here. Clock out, everyone.
"This is terrifying… That Pokémon… It's completely beyond us," Iris said quietly, her face pale.
It wasn't that they lacked effort. The opponent was simply too monstrous.
They still had other main Pokémon, they could continue fighting but what would be the point?
To send them out just to get instantly obliterated?
If it were Giovanni, they might've kept fighting, desperate to take down the evil leader of Team Rocket.
But Lucas…?
No thanks. They weren't even on the same playing field.
"It fused with Lunala. His existence already transcends what we can understand. We can't stop him," Blue shrugged, giving up completely. "I'm out. If you guys want to keep going, go ahead."
Steven and Cynthia stayed silent.
"Blue!" Red frowned. His words were a blow to their morale.
"Enough, Red. We've already done all we could. I'm just being realistic," Blue replied impatiently, then added with a click of his tongue, "He hasn't even sent out his white dragon yet. He's not even going all out."
Red: "…"
Lucas tilted his head slightly. Had he gone too hard on them? He seemed to have beaten them into arguing among themselves.
He shook his head, then turned toward his cousin Lance whose face was twisted with frustration.
His massive Dragonite and Dragonair had already been defeated by Lucas's Mega Rayquaza.
As for Leon, he had just recalled his fainted Charizard into its Poké Ball.
Across the entire battlefield, only two figures remained standing in the sky. Mega Rayquaza and Dawn Wings Necrozma both staring down at the defeated Champions with divine, commanding eyes.
"It seems you no longer have the strength to dance," Lucas said calmly, lighting a cigarette with composed grace.
League Champions?
Champion Level Trainers?
Not a single one of them could stand against him.
