Leonard refused the divorce, so Lillian ran away from him. Thus, began the chase that spanned through several countries as Leonard searched for her everywhere.
While on the run, Lillian was shocked to discover that she was already pregnant with Leonard's child. When Leonard finally caught her, she said it was not his but someone else's. She said she did it so he would stop bothering her.
Leonard was distraught she would go this far just to chase him away. But he still could not give up on her. He still wanted to be by her side. He told Lillian that he would not mind raising the child as his, as long as she no longer associated herself with the biological father of the child.
