Silence hung heavy in the air as they stared at each other.
Jihoon's heart pounded in his chest, throat dry. He couldn't speak.
"Cat got your tongue?" Junghoon asked. He picked the album off the floor, waving it. "You weren't this quiet when you were crying and speaking to yourself."
The omega licked his lips, forcing a smile. "I didn't hear you come in. When did you get back?"
"Are you serious?" the alpha let out a disbelieving scoff. He ran a hand through his hair. "Answer my question."
Jihoon's lips trembled. "I didn't know how to tell you—"
"Is that so?" the other asked. "Have I become so scary that starting a conversation with me terrifies you?"
"Is that what it is?"
"No…" the omega shook his head. "It's not that."
He kept his gaze on the floor.
"I can't believe this," Junghoon growled. He approached his mate and grabbed his chin, forcing their eyes to meet.
"Look at me when you speak, Jihoon."
The omega flinched, closing his eyes. His body trembled.
