Chapter 229: Little Adam
Thud!
A small, white-haired dumpling crashed into Kenji's leg, then fell to the ground with a plop.
Is the Fire Moth organization running insurance scams now?
"Sorry, uncle."
Kenji was stunned. Am I at the age where I get called 'uncle' now?
"You are..."
He looked down. The face gave him a familiar feeling. White hair, blue eyes... the facial contours had a shadow of both Kevin and MEI.
So, this is Kevin and MEI's son?
He looked to be about one or two years old. As expected of someone with Kevin's bloodline; the force he had run into him with was not small. Because the MANTIS surgery had been perfected, Kevin's body temperature could be controlled normally, so he wouldn't cause frostbite to others just by touching them. This was probably not a test-tube baby.
"Sorry about that, Kenji."
Kevin and MEI walked over, an apologetic look on their faces. This son of theirs was just too energetic.
"It's nothing. He's a very cute kid. What's his name?" Kenji asked, ruffling Adam's head. A child's hair really was soft.
"Adam!"
Before Kevin and the others could speak, Adam, who was not shy at all, announced his own name in a crisp voice.
In the Previous Era, surnames were extremely rare. Kaslana was something from 50,000 years later, so Adam had no surname.
"My name is Kenji. I'm Elysia's boyfriend," Kenji said with a smile.
"Eh? Uncle Kenji is Auntie Elysia's..."
"Hmmhmm ♪?"
"...Big Sister Elysia's boyfriend?"
Little Adam had been about to say "Auntie Elysia," but Elysia had appeared silently behind Kenji, looking at him with a smile that was not a smile.
Killing intent!
Adam, out of a very strong sense of self-preservation, corrected his form of address. Even as a child of just over one year old, he had a powerful will to live. He knew well the terror of Elysia. He was a boy, but Elysia was always trying to put him in little dresses.
A satisfied expression appeared on Elysia's face. Now this was a well-behaved little boy.
"Little Adam, would you like a little sister ♪?" Elysia's eyes darted, and she asked with a smile.
"Eh?"
Little Adam was taken aback. He looked at his mom and dad, his eyes clear and bewildered.
"We're not planning on having another child right now," Kevin said, not understanding what Elysia meant.
MEI thought for a moment, her super-brain activating. She realized something and smiled slightly. "Elysia, congratulations to you both."
This was the Kaslana family's ancestral external brain. With MEI around, Kevin basically never bothered to think too much.
"As expected of you, MEI. You're so smart ♪."
Elysia hugged MEI's arm. Kevin watched, the corner of his mouth twitching, his heart screaming. Is that your wife that you're hugging so intimately?
"The child of a Herrscher... I wonder how monstrous your child will be," MEI said with a smile.
Kenji was also a little curious. The child of a Herrscher... it seemed one had never appeared before. In the game, all the Previous Era Herrschers had died, and in the Current Era, the living Herrschers were all girls, most of whom were into other girls, so they hadn't had the chance.
"Elysia, you..."
Kevin's brain, which hadn't been used in a long time, booted up. He finally reacted, looking at the two of them with a dumbfounded expression. They hadn't received any news about this.
"M-hm. Mobius confirmed it, and I checked myself," Elysia said, patting her fleshy little belly. It had just happened so unexpectedly. She had thought they would have to "try" thousands, even tens of thousands of times, before they could have their own child.
"Congratulations," Kevin said with sincere congratulations.
"MEI, if I remember correctly, your constitution isn't suitable for the MANTIS surgery, right?" Kenji suddenly asked.
MEI nodded. The mortality rate of the MANTIS surgery was not low, and for her, the success rate was in the single digits. She was in the category of people least suited for it.
If nothing was done, the day she died of old age, Kevin would still look the same.
"The lifespan of a MANTIS soldier is very long. MEI, you haven't thought of other ways?"
Kevin's mouth opened. That's right, the lifespan debate. He couldn't do anything about it.
"There will be a way," MEI said, her eyes flashing as she pushed up her glasses. The Honkai would definitely be defeated. And she also wanted to stay with her big boy.
"In another timeline, some people gained immortality and an unchanging appearance due to the influence of the Divine Key, Abyss Flower," Kenji said, referring to Tesla and Einstein.
Comparing the Solar System to the Star Rail universe, Kenji felt that the Solar System was much more eventful. To obtain a long life, one didn't need to seek Abundance. You could just undergo the MANTIS surgery. Being affected by the Abyss Flower could also grant a long life. Although these processes were dangerous, they didn't have side effects like being Mara-Struck.
The long life pursued by the Xianzhou... they were even tricked and had limitations. After reaching a certain age, they would become Mara-Struck. If they came to the Solar System, they would probably feel like country bumpkins.
When it came to which "waters" were deeper, it was, of course, the Solar System. The Aeons were powerful enough, but the Solar System simply didn't have the concept of Paths; they were blocked out by the Cocoon.
Here in the Solar System, you had to have game, you had to know how to make plays. Those who didn't couldn't survive in this "Gu" breeding ground, and they wouldn't even be qualified to leave a trace in history. They would be directly elbowed into dust by the Cocoon.
"Divine Keys..." MEI looked at Elysia and smiled helplessly. Because all the Herrscher Cores were inside Elysia's body, the Divine Key plan had remained on paper and had never been implemented.
"After my child is born, I will help you," Elysia said.
Even if she wanted to, she couldn't take the Herrscher Cores out now. They had already fused with her child. She might be able to get them out using the Authority of Origin, but who knew if it would harm her child?
MEI nodded. She wasn't in a hurry. And even without the Core of the Herrscher of Death, she was confident she could find a way to live a long life on her own.
"By the way, there's one more thing, MEI. My child has been chosen as the Herrscher of Finality," Elysia said.
"Huh?"
A look of astonishment appeared on MEI's face. "You mean... we've defeated the Honkai?" she asked in surprise.
If the Herrscher of Finality was on their side, it was the same as having defeated the Honkai.
"Mhm ♪. You could say that."
Elysia nodded. The one who could embrace the Cocoon was her unborn child. The Honkai, naturally, had been surpassed.
"Well, that's..."
MEI didn't know what to say. She knew they had overcome the Honkai, but it didn't feel real. After all, Elysia had done the most work. They were like dogs who had won by lying flat.
"Thank you!" MEI said sincerely. Most of the Herrschers had been defeated by Elysia. Kevin and the other MANTIS soldiers had just provided support and cleaned up the Honkai Beasts on the battlefield.
"Why be so polite? This is my home. Of course I have to protect it ♪," Elysia said, putting her hands on her hips and shaking her head, her long pink hair floating in the air.
Hearing this, the others smiled and nodded. The Honkai had been resolved. They could finally breathe a sigh of relief.
