Chapter 314: Mr. Zombie in Space
"Kenji, you'll never guess who we ran into in space."
The Four Heavenly Kings had all returned to Earth together. Toriko said this mysteriously, and the others also had expressions full of emotion.
"Who?"
Kenji was intrigued. To make the Four Heavenly Kings show this kind of expression, the person must be very special.
"Mr. Zombie. Remember him?"
Toriko didn't keep him in suspense and just said it.
(Zongeh: It's Zongeh! Not Zombie!)
"It was him? That's not surprising. We might even run into him at the Final Land," Kenji said, not knowing whether to laugh or cry.
Zongeh's Food Luck was just too ridiculously OP. Although it was unknown how he got to space, it was... within the realm of possibility. He was a bizarre existence that couldn't be explained by common sense.
"That's not all! Do you know who was with Mr. Zombie?"
"Wasn't it his two followers?" Kenji said without thinking. Those two were also pretty unusual.
"More than that. The Ape King, Bambina, was following him too!" Toriko's expression suddenly became extremely colorful.
He didn't get it. One of the Eight Kings of the Gourmet World was following Zongeh into space. That combination was truly... subtle.
"Huh?"
Kenji's eyes went blank for a second. He said, speechless, "That's... completely ridiculous."
This is true love. The Ape King chased his "love" all the way to space. Zongeh, with his maxed-out Food Luck, is truly fortunate.
To enter space, besides needing immense strength, you can also do it if your Food Luck is off the charts.
"When we saw it, we couldn't believe our eyes either," Coco shrugged.
He was confident in his superhuman vision, but at that moment, he, too, had doubted his eyes. Even now, he couldn't see through Zongeh's strength. He looked like no threat, but he could do many incredible things.
"Can you really go anywhere if your Food Luck is just 'ungodly' (outrageous)?" Sunny complained.
He had personally seen Zongeh graze past a black hole. If he had been a second slower, he would have been swallowed and shredded. He also saw Zongeh coincidentally dodge a solar storm.
Good luck just coated Zongeh, allowing him to turn calamity into safety every time. Even Komatsu's Food Luck didn't seem this ridiculous.
"Indeed. Zongeh is probably the living embodiment of Food Luck," Kenji agreed.
Whether in the Human World or the Gourmet World, Zongeh and his group had an unobstructed path. Though, in a way, Teppei was also amazing for being able to "Knock" Zongeh.
The Ape King Bambina's strength, while not on the level of those hundreds-of-thousands-level beasts, was still a top-tier fighter on the planet's surface.
"When are you guys planning to leave Earth again?"
"We've been out for a while. We'll rest on Earth, and then it's the Final Land. Want to group up and go?" Toriko asked.
"Sure. Just give me a call when it's time."
Kenji glanced at Firefly. This "lying flat" mermaid should have returned to the Final Land long ago, but she was staying here being a "salted fish" (freeloader). A literal salted fish.
There were only a few ways to get to the Final Land. Either you rely on top-tier Food Luck, or you have someone to guide you. If you have a bad sense of direction, you'd never reach it.
Firefly knew the way. And Toriko's White Ogre knew, too.
His Full Course Menu... only the final Main Dish was left. It would be confirmed in the Final Land.
"Toriko, is your Full Course Menu complete?" Kenji asked.
Toriko shook his head. "I'm still missing one. I haven't found a suitable ingredient. I'll wait until we get to the Final Land."
"Is that so? I'm also missing my last one."
The two looked at each other, bumped fists, and smiled with tacit understanding.
"Haha! You guys are so slow! The rest of us completed our menus on Earth," Sunny laughed, retorting.
"Sunny, if we're talking about Capture Levels, of all the ingredients on your menu, only your dessert, EARTH, has a remotely high level."
Toriko said pointedly. The ingredients on Sunny's menu generally had Capture Levels below 50.
"Urusai! All that matters is that I like them!"
Black lines appeared on Sunny's head. His ingredients all had beauty effects or were perfectly "beautiful." Ugly-ass ingredients had no right to be on his menu.
"Never mind that. Toriko... my 'brother-in-law'... you just ditched my little sister Rin. Shouldn't you explain yourself?" Sunny put on his "big brother" attitude.
This wasn't just finding fault. He left Rin alone to raise a child while he ran around the universe with Komatsu.
Who is his true love?!
Although he'd long expected this, as her brother, he had to speak up for his sister.
"This..." Toriko scratched his head awkwardly, momentarily at a loss for words.
"Brother! I won't let you talk about Toriko like that!"
Rin arrived at that moment, standing next to Toriko, her hands on her hips, looking serious.
Toriko's house was in this area, so she arrived quickly.
She didn't mind. She knew that as a Gourmet Hunter, Toriko had to go everywhere to capture ingredients. She wanted to go too, but she wasn't strong enough and would just be a burden. So, she stayed on Earth. It wasn't like Toriko never came back; the family got to see each other every so often.
"Rin, you..."
Sunny took a deep breath. Looking at his sister standing by Toriko, he felt his blood pressure spike. He almost fainted.
I'm your brother! I'm sticking up for you!
Seeing this, even Zebra, the "sigma male," couldn't help but laugh. His "little cotton jacket" (sister) was full of holes.
No... wait... for Sunny, Rin had never been a warm jacket.
"Rin, don't say that..." Toriko felt awkward, especially with Sunny glaring at him, radiating pure, unadulterated killing intent.
If he had a sister, he'd probably be just as exasperated in this situation.
"Toriko, how long can you stay this time?"
Rin held Toriko's arm, asking like a loving wife.
CRUNCH!
Sunny gritted his teeth, his fists clenching and unclenching. He roared internally, as if ten thousand Horse Kings (Heracles) were stampeding through his mind.
Is that HIS sister or MY sister?!
Ever since they were kids, Rin had revolved around Toriko. Now that they were adults, she practically wanted to be glued to him.
Kenji patted Sunny's shoulder.
"Stay strong."
Sunny shrugged, as if he'd seen it all.
"I'm used to it. It's been like this for years."
At first, he'd been furious. Now, he just bickered.
"I can stay for a while," Toriko said with a smile.
He did feel guilty, leaving his family to go adventuring in space with Komatsu.
He would spend time with his family before heading to the Final Land.
...
The group split up to go to their respective homes. If they wanted to meet up, they'd just arrange it at Komatsu's 10-Star Gourmet Hotel.
(Chefs: Nooo! Don't come here, you gluttons!)
