Chapter 17 - Chapter 17: Supreme King Haki! Facing the Five Elder Stars!

"Roger!!"

Kaido's long legs practically sparked as he sprinted across the rocky wilderness.

To keep his balance, Roya had to grab a strand of his hair.

The scenery rushed by in a blur. Should he say, as expected of Teacher Kaido? Even as a youth, his running was faster than Roya's flying.

Bang!

A sudden gunshot rang out.

Roya slapped his forehead, extremely annoyed. "Who threw a firecracker?"

"Hahaha! What a big human!"

A silly-sounding voice came from the side.

"Eh?"

Roya and Uncle Kaido, who had both stopped, turned to look.

It was the stereotypical Celestial Dragon.

Obese, snot-nosed, with a high topknot and a standard space suit complete with a fishbowl helmet.

He was sitting on the back of a muscular slave, surrounded by a group of pale-faced guards.

"Hahaha! This guy must be worth a ton of points!"

The Celestial Dragon pointed the still-smoking gun at Kaido. "Don't dodge! If I miss again, I'll never forgive you!"

The guards looked like they were about to cry.

Wouldn't it be better to just surrender?

They might not recognize Roya, but they definitely recognized Kaido.

The trainee duo of the Rocks Pirates!

Kaido and Roya!

Both were notorious monsters!

"Ugh! This is a Celestial Dragon?"

Though Kaido smiled, the corners of his mouth twitched downward. "This is the guy who stands at the top of the world?"

"What a joke!!"

At that moment—

"Brother Kaido! Let me handle this one!"

Roya volunteered eagerly.

He hadn't tasted a Celestial Dragon's dark energy yet.

After a moment's thought, Roya decided, "Burning at the stake should be fine."

In the next instant, the Celestial Dragon, his guards, and the slave beneath him all burst into flames—their clothes and hair catching fire.

"Waaaaaaaaah!!"

The Celestial Dragon screamed, tumbling off the slave's back and rolling on the ground in agony.

"Here it comes!"

Roya eagerly took a deep breath as the black aura emitted by the Celestial Dragon poured into him. "Pure!"

Celestial Dragons did feel pain when they suffered.

And the dark aura they emitted? Incredibly rich and satisfying!

Despite their agony, the well-trained guards still tried to rescue their master.

But—

Boom!

The flames surged even higher. The inferno eagerly devoured them all, becoming a blazing sea of fire.

Roya's ability was to create disasters.

Instead of just setting their clothes on fire, he had used them as fuel.

It didn't matter how many people there were—as long as the fuel was enough, the flames would rise.

The screaming grew louder... and then faded away.

"Burning at the stake doesn't work," Roya crossed his arms thoughtfully. "They burned to death too fast."

"Geez, freak! Nicely done, kid. Trash like that deserves all the suffering we can give 'em!"

Kaido laughed heartily and started running again.

Roya understood what he meant.

Kaido dreamed of creating a world where the strong ruled over the weak—where power alone defined law.

But honestly, the world already worked that way.

The Celestial Dragons reigned high above because they held the strongest military power.

Even among Celestial Dragons, strength was respected.

As they advanced toward the island's center, they encountered several more Celestial Dragons along the way.

Roya didn't hesitate to experiment on them.

Wind blades, falling meteorites, thunder bombardments, landslides...

None of them were satisfying. The average Celestial Dragon was far too fragile—they died after just a few hits.

As Roya pondered this—

"Roger!"

"Wait, Rocks!"

Boom!!

A terrifying gale blasted toward them, accompanied by black lightning that pierced the heavens. The entire island trembled, and the clouds above were instantly blown away.

"The captain's already clashing with Roger?"

Roya's heart pounded.

A battle between the kings of the old and new eras... how glorious must it be?

"Ugh, ugh, ugh!!"

Kaido roared and leapt a hundred meters into the air, crashing toward the island's central region like a meteorite.

After several massive bounds, he and Roya landed on the battlefield's edge.

Roya's eyes widened.

Not just Roger and Captain Rocks—everyone was here!

"Roger!!"

Captain Rocks exuded terrifying power and bloodlust.

"Rocks!"

The future Pirate King was just as fierce.

"Roger!"

Vice Admiral Garp charged into the fray.

"Roger!!"

The Golden Lion descended from above.

"Roger!"

Whitebeard roared with all his might.

"Rocks!!"

Silvers Rayleigh stood firm with equal ambition.

"Don't get cocky, Roger! Rocks!"

Monkey D. Kong, ferocious as ever, stood with a lineup of monsters behind him.

BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM!

Conqueror's Haki clashed in every direction, flooding the island.

The island shook with massive earthquakes. Cracks split the ground, and even the central mountain began to collapse.

At the same time, an immense aura erupted from Kaido.

"Roger!!"

Roaring, Kaido rushed into the fray.

Roya stood stunned.

Multiple Conqueror's Hakis collided, draining all color from the world. Roya's mind went blank—he couldn't even think.

Was he about to faint?

Seriously? I'm a transmigrator! You comic characters think you're better than me?

Suddenly, something inside him snapped.

Buzz!!

Roya's eyes widened, and he shouted subconsciously, "Roger!!"

His voice carried a strange power, spreading his Haki outward.

It even resonated with the soundwaves of his scream, producing an unexpected shockwave.

But no one noticed.

On this battlefield, Roya was just a roadside cub no one cared about. Even Kaido, charging excitedly ahead, didn't spare him a glance.

It was humiliating.

He awakened Conqueror's Haki at age seven—earlier than Yamato.

And yet... why was he the one calling Roger's name?

Forget it. Seeing how hard everyone's fighting, I'll let it slide.

Roya flapped his wings and retreated to the edge of the battlefield.

He didn't want to be caught in that chaos.

"Ma-ma-ma! I knew it—little Roya, you're a Conqueror too!"

A voice rang out behind him.

Roya turned. Big Mom was also watching the battlefield from a distance.

"Aunt Linlin, aren't you joining the fight?"

Roya asked curiously.

Wasn't she obsessed with Roger too?

Even when bathing in lava, she'd mutter his name...

"I'm not interested in playing with those fools."

Charlotte Linlin winked. "Little Roya, don't forget why we came here. Whoever takes the treasure wins!"

Roya looked back.

The monsters were going all-out.

The captain was fighting Roger one moment, Garp the next, then clashing with Kong.

Only the Navy and the Knights of God seemed remotely coordinated. Everyone else was in complete chaos.

The ground was splitting apart, the mountains were screaming, and even the sky looked terrified.

If I get close to that mess, I'll probably die from the aftershocks alone.

"You're right."

Roya turned back and nodded. "Let's go treasure hunting!"

"Ma-ma-ma! Good boy!"

So Roya sat on Linlin's shoulder again, and the two raced toward the island's center.

That area was a mess.

The Celestial Dragons who had come to take shelter were still as arrogant as ever. They kept shouting at pirates to protect them so they could resume their hunts.

Organizers were doing their best to calm them down.

No one noticed what was happening near the treasure platform at the back of the venue.

"Are these the two Devil Fruits?"

A tall, honest-looking boy stared happily at the fruit in his hands.

"That's right! Kuma!"

Next to him, a boy with a big, flat head held another green-scaled fruit. "It's ours—"

Smash!

A huge shadow crashed down, knocking the boy over and snatching the green fruit.

"Kuma! Eat it!"

Without hesitation, the honest boy bit into his fruit.

"Tch!"

Charlotte Linlin clicked her tongue in annoyance.

Roya, still on her shoulder, looked at the boy on the ground and sighed.

If you'd been a little faster, you could've gotten away with it.

Boom!

Kuma was sent flying.

An old man appeared, dressed in black, with a cane and a small hat—his thick white beard swaying in the wind. He stood silently, radiating power.

"How dare insects born in filth touch the treasure of the gods."

"You all deserve to die."

Roya grabbed a handful of Linlin's hair and whispered, "Whoa. The monster's here. Aunt Linlin, can you take him?"

The treasure hoard was right there!

Besides the Azure Dragon Fruit and the Paw-Paw Fruit, Roya spotted another Devil Fruit—and it didn't look ordinary.

Not to mention all that treasure...

But if Aunt Linlin couldn't hold out—

Then we'd have to run.

"Ma-ma-ma..."

Charlotte Linlin stared at the man with great interest.

"So, the world's highest authority has come to the human realm?"

The next opponent—was one of the Five Elders.
